We were followed by one of the rangers for the first 6 holes. He did not say anything to us about our speed or play. Finally he came up and told my dad he could not play out of my bag and that he had to go and rent a set of clubs. The ranger was quite rude, but we went ahead and did it. There were several other groups that were doing the same thing, but nothing was said to them. This course is public, not private, I did not expect to be harassed by the staff. On top of that, the course is a mess. WW1 style trenches throughout and tee boxes that are a mess. The cart paths look like they have not been touched in 25 years. The price is not worth it at all.

It was very dry conditions with the fairways being pretty burnt up and not the best of condition, but most likely due to the real dry summer more so than anything else The greens were in fantastic shape. It was obvious really doing the best they can to keep the green and the surrounding areas by putting surfaces and in good shape. There is a ton of green space and plenty of room to spread out from other families. There are picnic shelters and grills. Huge parking lot! Even on the busiest summer holidays, I have never struggled to find parking. There is a really nice fenced in dog area, as well as as a dog section of the beach. If it was closer, we would probably be there a lot this summer as it's a great way to cool down.

The MVHPC has so much more to offer than just a pool membership....there are fun things like winter and summer platform tennis leagues, hiking trails, card nights, kids movie nights, pig roasts, derby day party, Christmas dance, karaoke....etc. In 2020, we added pop up parties with live local music on the terrace (BYOB) and it was a huge hit with members. There's a nice fishing lake (Bass Lake) adjacent and a group center with a small library and games. They have some family bunkhouses (think Cozy Cabins - bring your own linen, utensils, dishes) near the lake. Nice dog park and fire ring.
