River of Life Church in Cedar Rapids Iowa was severely damaged by the recent Derecho. The…read moresanctuary was completely destroyed, but yet the church remains functional with its day-to-day activities such as the weekly food pantry. The food pantry is open every Wednesday morning from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and practices social distancing due to the covid-19 virus. The food pantry is one of the best food pantries in Cedar Rapids which provides families in need regardless of religious beliefs, church membership, and of course whether or not one is a believer. We help all who are in need. River of Life despite being damaged by the storm has been conducting services in their parking lot under a tent during this trying time, but is in the process of getting occupancy per the city on the portion of the building that has not been completely demolished and should start holding Sunday services inside the old portion of the church within a couple of weeks. If you are in need of food and perhaps even some additional assistance such as tree removal, some financial help, or even just an ear or shoulder to listen to or cry on we are always available to do whatever it is in our power to help. You do not have to be a member of the church. you don't even have to believe in Jesus Christ as your lord and savior. We want to be there for you and your family and your time of need no matter what that need May be. We love you no matter what and we hope to see you whether it be at our food pantry or our Sunday service. We also offer life groups throughout the week where you have the opportunity to meet other men and women who may be going through the same thing you are, or have already been through what you have been through and can give you the advice and guidance you need to help yourself and to find peace in this life. River of Life is truly a church family and we are always wanting to expand our family no matter your economical social background, no matter your ethnic background, no matter your criminal background, no matter your substance abuse background, we love everyone and want to spread the word of God everyone who is hungry for the word. Please come visit and enjoy what we have to offer and if you don't feel comfortable or enjoy what our community is about that's okay too. There's no harm and trying something new that might just be the key to better your life on Earth and ultimately your salvation if you choose to accept Jesus Christ as your lord and savior.

Okay, is it fair to leave ANOTHER review for ANOTHER church based only on my knowledge of the…read morepastor? Well, sure I say. Gotta start somewhere. I mean come on, how cool is it that Jim Bonewald, the pastor is at least willing to put his church Yelp in the first place. And yes, Yelp may be more of an urban hipster thing, but I do believe Cedar Rapids can represent with the best of them! Jim is a thoughtful person, balanced and creative. Knox PC must be a great place to be in community. So, I have never been to the church, probably won't be headed to Iowa any time soon, but IF I were going there, Knox would definately be on the list.
