There are three Chowrasta locations in the greater Toronto area. The closest one to me is this one on the northeast corner of Markham Road and McNicoll Avenue. It was rush hour, so I got there five minutes after my estimated pickup time. This eatery is in the same plaza as the Markham Convention Centre. It is two doors down from a walk-in clinic that I had visited a year ago. This eatery used to be Dosa Rama. The menu still offers a number of dosas, but I suppose that it has branched out to offer more dishes. There was lots of parking when I was here tonight at 6 pm. A year ago, I was here on a Saturday and parking was crazy. I parked fairly close to Chowrasta and walked over. This eatery is clean and deep. There were a lot of tables and seat for dining. I was at the counter. A woman came out from the kitchen with the nicest smile. I indicated that I had an Uber Eats order. I showed her the details on my phone. She nodded and grabbed my order on the counter. She wished me a good evening. I reciprocated and happily left carrying my takeout with me. I got home and dug in. My friends were not kidding. The food here is flavourful and excellent. I had the onion samosas. They were the perfect size. The wrapper on each samosa was thin. The caramelized onions filling with a green pea here and there was so good. The spices and flavouring were amazing. I'd get these onion samosas again. The mutton biriyani was delicious. The mutton was flavourful and not gamey. The chunks of mutton were large and generous. They melted in my mouth. I got a bonus cube of potato that probably shouldn't have been there. Even that potato cube was so good. The rice was fluffy and equally flavourful. This place seasons their food so well. There is heat to the biriyani. It came with two sauces. The red sauce was spicy. I used more of the white one with little cubes of cucumber and carrot. It took down the heat a notch. The mutton biriyani was huge. I ate half of it. I have leftovers for another meal. I asked the owner to customize a lunch for me since it was my first time there. He was very friendly and was happy to oblige. I came away with a container packed with delicious food for $11. All the curries (spinach, potato and lentil, veggie and soy meat) were flavouful and oh so yummy but my favorite was the soy meat curry which had a little extra kick. My first visit to Rani Fast Food will definitely not be my last. I can't wait to try out their other offerings as many Google reviews suggest.

We went with a lighter (we thought it was a lighter order between the two of us) order, considering that there's a game still to be played: butter chicken, chicken samosa and a mango lassi to wash things down. Butter chicken was rich, savoury, super buttery and had the right mix of spicy. They were rather generous with the basmati rice... we couldn't finish it. The chicken samsosa were the heavier batt-ery type and not the thin crunch type. Which is fine by me. The filling was in the form of minced chicken. I personally would have preferred chunkier chicken. But still a good, satisfying appetizer. If you aren't super hungry, this could of been a mini meal. In addition, the hot sauce that was paired with the samosas was a perfect match. Finally, the mango lassi tasted exactly how a mango lassi should taste like...fruity and yoghurty.
