First time at Saffron. It is an Indian restaurant in Aurora. Very clean. Lots of tables. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Manager came over to introduce himself. Likely one of the bigger menus I have seen in an Indian restaurant. Many selections. Focus on fusion, but also northern Indian cuisine. I am a fan of many of the foods on the menu but am a Celiac, so must watch out for gluten. They were happy to accommodate when I told them. Today I am trying the lamb roganjosh and the kachumber salad. This was by my choice because of food allergies, or naan and rice were available. The menu offers some indochinese as well as indomexican offerings. I have often found that Indian and Mexican are an easy mix to provide to people with the ability to provide traditional or by substituting key ingredients from either culture. Full bar. Marble tables. The place has been really nicely dressed up to make the place very current and appealing. The food set my tastebuds on fire. Not super hot but an exquisite mix of spices with a nice mix of black pepper and cinnamon and chilies. And the salad was beyond traditional fare for a kachumber salad. 5 stars. Excellent service, ambience, friendliness and presentation.

I did a search on Uber Eats and discovered that Plates & Bowls has a third location. It was on the other side of this plaza. Cool! I am a regular at the Whitchurch-Stouffville location. I might as well give this location a try. The other eatery is in Newmarket. Uber Eats had a BOGO offer on black bowls. I love the butter chicken bowl, so I got that one. The estimated time for my pickup was twenty minutes. It was enough time for me to hit Dollarama, as I love browsing and shopping at this store. Once I was done shopping, I drove over to Plates & Bowls. Parking does get busy on this side of the plaza, as you have the Keg and other eateries that share the same parking spots. I lucked out and found a spot fairly close to the eatery. I backed into it and walked in. The interior looks similar to the Whitchurch-Stouffville location. The pickup counter is fairly close to the door. A nice woman said hi and asked if I was picking up an Uber Eats order. I was and said my name. She had the order right on the counter. She handed over the plastic bag with my food. I thanked her, wished her a happy 2023, and left happily with my food. I got home and had one of the butter chicken bowls. Normally, the butter chicken comes with basmati rice, which is always awesome. This place kicked it up a notch and used the more fragrant rice that typically comes with achari chicken. It worked nicely. The butter chicken recipe is consistent. The sauce is awesome and the chicken morsels are white meat. This place isn't as generous with the butter chicken as its original location. It was nevertheless yummy. I will devour the other one tomorrow, to ring in 2023. I'd return here for more good eats when I'm in Aurora in the new year. (502)

The food arrived super hot and fresh and everything looked delicious. The naan was large and fluffy and the rice was nice and fragrant. Portion sizes were also not bad, although the meat pieces in the chicken dishes were quite sparse for the price. The food was a disappointment, unfortunately. It was SO salty. Like almost inedibly so. All three dishes, the butter chicken, chicken labadar and the palak paneer were so so salty, and I am typically a fan of salty food. Even food others find salty I can enjoy but this was too much. I'm not sure if it was the chef on duty that night or if it was a mistake but we were disappointed. The flavours seemed good other than the salt but we were reaching for water constantly. With the influx of Indian restaurants in Newmarket, I hope this was an off day but I will likely be trying other restaurants in the future. Our bill was around $80 for three dishes, rice and naan so we fill that it was not worth it both for value and quality.

She welcomed us and we asked if we could sit in a booth, she said , you have yo pay extra charge, which blew my mind . We had never heard that before . That put us off but we sat down ordered the food . We ordered chilli chicken, it was good but there was no sauce absolutely dry and very small serving . Hardly sufficient for one person . The shahi paneer was good and we ordered plain rice and plain fresh nan . It's a clean place but these restrictions of sitting should not be applied. It puts customers off . The menu is super long too much to choose from , it's kind of confusing .

My group sampled the chicken biriyani (Friday special), veggie bowl, and Philly steak. The Philly steak is not showing on the menu but is on the rotating videos played on the TV display. The food were all good. My friend's comment on the veggie bowl was that it was a little dry. The Philly steak I had was not hot anymore by the time I came to eat it after ordering. The washroom is spacious but could have been better maintained. It was not flushed when I came in and there is also no tissue paper. What sat well with me was the very good service from the gentleman and lady who took our orders. The guy was very helpful during order placement and also even gave us samples to try first. He took small portions of the butter chicken, achari chicken, and other dishes for us to sample. One of my companions also placed an order for salad or coleslaw. The lady at the counter also presented an option to mix different kinds of salads in an order. It was an overall pleasant meal time. I like the range of food offerings. The high quality service is also very much appreciated.

(Didn't know this till after I tasted the drink) I asked her why it isn't with the yellow mung beans she insisted this is the drink! There's a clear picture it's yellow mung beans not long rectangular coconut jelly! I had so look forward to coming for crepes and pho, but makes me doubt how authentic their food is if they can't even make the basic che dessert! The Che ba mau was disgustiing! Imagine coconut drink mixed with sour lime jello that's how it tasted! $9 for 2 drink seemed like a good deal but they have no idea how to make drinks!

They ended up buying the business between the two eateries, knocked down a couple of walls, and renamed the place CrepeStar Dessert Cafe and Bistro. This eatery is located at Aurora Shopping Centre. It's a plaza, so the name can be a bit misleading. There is plenty of parking. My orders have mostly been takeout. I came here a lot during the pandemic when you couldn't dine at restaurants. I have ordered a number of items for takeout, including the following: - Pork belly baos (two) that comes with fries - A side order of gravy - Chicken fresh rolls - Spicy grilled shrimp The pork belly baos were yummy! The veggies were crunchy and fresh. The pork belly was tender and flavourful. I would have put more protein in them, but they satisfied my craving for pork belly baos. If you have been reading my reviews for a bit, you'll know that fries aren't high on my list of sides. I'd rather get onion rings, a side salad, or sweet potato fries. However, I was game getting gravy. The fries taste homemade and weren't oily. You can see bits of potato skin on each fry. The gravy was perfect. It wasn't overly thick. It wasn't thin or salty. Just right. I enjoyed this combo. The fresh rolls are huge here! It was smart that they were separated by a banana leaf. The veggies here are amazingly crunchy and tasty. The vermicelli was done right. The chicken was tender and flavourful. Again, I feel that there could be more protein in it. Maybe I'm just a protein hog. The spicy grilled shrimp are yummy. They were plump and flavourful. My food was impeccably packed and tasted so fresh with every bite. I have dined in once. I had ordered grilled pork belly pho (P8). The owners advised that they were short on pork belly. I got steak, too! The pho here was fantastic. The broth was amazing. The pork belly and steak were tender and flavourful. I loved it! It comes in one size -- generous! I recently came here to pick up Krispy Kreme donuts. They were a part of the Best Buddies Prom drive. This charity that promotes inclusion by creating lasting one-to-one friendships between individuals living with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD and Autism Spectrum Disorder). The owners have an autistic son, so this charity drive was near and dear to them. I ordered a dozen donuts. They were ready for pickup at the end of February. I came here after work. It was easy to speak to a friendly male staffer and tell him my name. He immediately found my order and handed me my donuts. They were Krispy Kreme glaze donuts. You can't just have one. They were so fresh and yummy. Naturally, I looked at the Kawartha Lakes ice cream and sherbet flavours. I decided to get a cup of raspberry sherbet. The cup size was huge! I paid with a debit card. I tapped and was good. I thanked the nice man and headed to my car. I enjoyed my raspberry sherbet. It was delicious and refreshing. Kawartha Lakes does frozen treats right. It's a decent Vietnamese place in Aurora for good eats, which has rekindled my fondness for the town. The sherbet was excellent. I need to return and try the crepes next. (128)
