I am honestly disappointed in how I was treated today at Twisted Sixs. This shop has been my go to for tattoos, piercings and jewelry but after today I will NOT return. When I walked inside there were 4 artist standing /talking at the front desk. No one greeted me or asked if I needed anything. I literally stood there for about 2-3 mins before walking out. There wasn't anyone in line or waiting to get serviced so i wasn't sure why I wasn't acknowledged but I will say I've never felt so invisible. I would love to say maybe they didn't see me BUT I was literally the only person in the front at that Time. In the future I do hope these artist will be more mindful of how they treat new and/or returning customers. read more

I rarely, if ever, provide negative reviews to small business owners because I don't want to hurt someone's livelihood, but this is a serious safety concern. While I do very much like the appearance of the tattoo is just got from Twisted Six, I am very concerned about their COVID safety practices and the complete lack of even the most basic aftercare instructions. While the shop is not allowing more than just the person getting tattooed inside (very wise), none of the shop employees wore masks inside the shop. This is required by the state's COVID-19 regulations regarding tattoo parlors in phase 2, which we are in. https://files.nc.gov/covid/documents/guidance/NCDHHS-Interim-Guidance-for-Tattoo-Businesses-Phase-2.pdf A friend went to DogStar tattoo on the same day to get ink and told me all the artists there wore masks while speaking with and working on customers. Shop employees who came outside to speak to us within 6 feet and wore no masks outside either. When I came inside for my appointment one of the guys told me my artist would be ready shortly and said, "You guys know we don't provide aftercare?" I was a bit confused by that, as I have quite a few tattoos, so I know how to do it, but wasn't sure what he meant by not providing it. Every shop I've been to provides at least verbal instructions and often printed aftercare directions. Once inside my tattoo was completed in a timely manner and I like the look of it very much, but my artist did not wear a mask (while I did), and when done said, "You know aftercare?" I nodded, but know that every artist has their own preferences for aftercare and often recommend a soap or how long they like their client to wear the bandage, anywhere from 2-24 hours. He offered zero suggestions for bandage time, recommended soap or lotion. This was the first time I'd not had an artist offer any verbal instructions or tell me what lotion they recommend. Everyone there was super friendly, and I am not trying to screw up someone's livelihood but I very much suggest they invest in masks for their employees and provide aftercare instructions to clients. Not wearing masks is endangering their clients, and I will not be going back there for additional work. read more

Customer service is not so great :/ They spend most of their time talking and on their phones. So not to long ago I went in to get a small rose with the stem being a 5 letter name and there price was 200-250 they over charge ! My bf has gotten 2 large pieces here before from shoulder to shoulder a 5 letter name in big letters and it was only $150 And a bigger piece on the rib cage for $250 but now for a small rose with a name 200 to $250 is just CRAZZY! read more

Ive been in Durham for about two months now, and have been cautiously waiting to find an 'every day' place for me to go and get tattoos or piercings. I did what most yelpers would do and put it to research. I came to Twisted Sixs because of their hours and because of the piercing pictures they have on their social media. I was very happy with my experience there; I came in probably an hour or so before they closed, told their piercer what I wanted and was back in the chair in probably 15 minutes. Granted, I started super simple with just a nose piercing, but I will definitely be going back in the upcoming weeks for a second nose piercing as well as some tattoos. Their staff is all super friendly and super professional. They made me feel amazingly welcome and comfortable the entire time, without being babied or watched after, which I hate. They seriously have the best balance. I'm hella happy with their work so far, and I'll update this as get more done so that I can keep informing everyone as to how great they are! For real, go here. Back when I was a frequent visitor, it was quite smokey inside, as just about every employee there smokes inside the shop. My wife and myself have gotten several tattoos and just recently my wife got several piercings there and we are both very experienced in tattoos until this last experience have been very very happy with twisted and let me clear and specific I am not sure how much of Rome this individual played on what took place but had it not been New Year's Eve and had my wife not had her mind set on getting it right that minute it wouldn't have happened period. The tattoo was mediocre but we were absolutely gouged in price. I personally have six tattoos of which two I have gotten there which price was fair and the tattoo was done well my wife had three done excluding this last one price again very fair done I would give three stars clean (aside from allowing smoking in the front room which is terrible just my preference ) they are up to standard , artists could use a little bathing but whatever but this last time we were absolutely gauged and because we won't be back so not sure if owner got a little positive support or more business but we supported them when nobody was going there and they got shit reviews because they did a good job at a fair price and now they do a mediocre or less than ok job at a rip off price. 4 tiny hearts on her finger black and white ( he decide to color two of them red on his own volition after the fact because it wasn't any more issue for him than using black - this was what he told us) and a shading and retouching of two hearts on her wrist already tattooed charged her $80 dollars for this tattoo. We were completely gauged because - I guess because it was a holiday or we were female or this guy who was acting like a manager or the owner - decided it was important to do so. We were repeat customers who spent over $1000 dollars patronizing his business and it irritates me and angers me when tattoo shops rip people off. He would not have gotten our hard earned money that night had it been up to me and that is the last of it he will get and y'all should really consider what I am saying and research it for yourself. We tipped the artist $20 because he was friendly and it wasn't his fault and the owner wanted to go with $100 even. So he could have played along with that malarkey if he wanted to . In the past I would give Twisted 5 stars hands down. I have many of my tattoos from there. Unfortunately there must have been a change of management or something that has caused them to REACHHHH with their prices. I have at least 3 large pieces from there that were reasonably priced. One with 15 words (important for the next sentence) .. I went to get 4 words and the price was $80. .. for 4 words. The piece with 15 words was $80. I got the image of the earth held in hands .. that was $80. .. so for 4 words to be $80.. idk about that. Not to mention none of the artists seemed to want to do the tattoo in the first place. It was very evident. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I guess what I wanted was not intricate enough for them. I went to Twisted Six's with a friend based off of a recommendation. Under conventional circumstances, I think they would've done an adequate job. I was satisfied with my second lobe piercings. However, the experience was very uncomfortable for a multitude of reasons. For one, when I arrived, none of the workers were wearing masks. When greeted outside by one of the employees, he proceeded to stand very close to us with no mask. After inquiring about the health measures that they were taking, whether or not the workers would be wearing masks, etc, he assured me that I came to the right place, and that they followed all CDC guidelines. Throughout my entire experience in the parlor, not a single employee was wearing a mask. In addition, I was not put at ease by the piercer and not given clear directions for piercing aftercare. I got double nose rings last week both sunk into my nose rushed to the urgent care to try get them out of my nose or try to save the piercings ...... they couldn't do anything ended up going to another piercer who put tapers in to show me the angle they were pierced out and they were so crooked and pushing so much on my nose both had to be pulled and now I don't have any nose rings THIS WAS DONE BY SCOTTY ! I was so scared to get my nose pierced after a horrible experience I had somewhere else... (they tried to get my nose pierced and used the needle 3 times and still couldn't get the nose piercing in, so painful!!) but I call Twisted Six and talked to Scotty. He was so nice on the phone so I decided to give it a try. When I got there I explain what had happen somewhere else and he just listen to me and told me that he would be gentle and quick. He went entirely too deep and made a laceration in the tattoo which caused ink to pool underneath my skin causing serious pain and an ugly shadow. Part of my heart isn't even fucking shaded in! Two words: Tony Roberson. He's at the top of the game. I've been in more than a few tattoo studios n shops, and Tony steals the show. His work done his way is unique and unmatched. I presented a few ideas, and he spun to create a memorial masterpiece in homage to a dear loved one. I didn't need to see a "few versions" as he presented THE version the 1st time, and made me cry, an apocalyptic event all by itself. The guys have a comfy lounge area, pool table, digital juke box, and sales store area. The magic happens separately, behind the lounge, in privacy, as I don't necessarily want to be on display. I love humor, family, tuneage, friends, and relaxation, and Twisted Sixs embodies what I value while I'm getting an ink session. My girl pointed me to Twisted Sixs and I'll have a hard time going elsewhere. I want at least 2 more I can think of right off the cuff. Hopefully, Tony will never retire ; ] I'll lose the addiction and go back to swimming, ultimate frisbee, and donating blood if that happens! read more

I went there and got a piece done on my foot. Tony did it and everything was fine i thought.... went home and realized he missed a spot that makes my tattoo seem incomplete. I went back and showed him and he told me another time to come in and he will fix it. Well, this never happened. I went in to his shop multiple times to have him fix it. He would just tell me to come another time, i would call him, drive down there and he would ignore me. He started getting an attitude about it and tell me he is busy with paying customers while i have a messed up tat on my body. He is unprofessional and rude. Don't go there and support this kind of shop. I have already turn some of my friends away from there. I have never wrote a response to anything on yelp before this. When you first walk in, its like a typical tattoo shop out of a movie which can be very unsettling if your not use to that kind of environment. Heavy metal music, big guys covered in tats and the whole place smells like cigarettes. As a black person, I found the confederate flag inside offensive and off putting. Most of the men were very friendly, but my actual tattoo artist wasn't at all. He gave me a hard time on the tattoo and kept trying to change what I originally said I wanted, and left out details on the final tattoo itself that I wanted. He also never gave me instructions on aftercare for the tattoo. Overall, I like my tattoo, but I probably would never go back there for a tattoo again, but it's a great place if you want to get a quick piercing, that way your in and out fast. read more

Horrible!! I was very unhappy with my experience here and i will never recommend this place to anyone i know!!!! If i could give this place a negative rating, i would. My reasons are these... 1) I felt i was badgered into using an artist (Joe Haire) when I specifically requested another artist (Al). 2) The artist they stuck me with (Joe) appeared to be high on something, was unprofessional and his work was sloppy and rushed.I certainly do not feel like i got what i paid for. His work is sub-standard. 3) Other staff made me feel uncomfortable with their obnoxious behavior- cursing and hollering. I politely requested Al Breezy as my girlfriend recommended i do, and I was informed that he was with another client. So i said i could wait to speak with him because i really like his work. When the counter guy said Joe is available and Al was gonna be busy for a while. I said i would still like to wait for Al, but they kept pressuring me that Joe was available. I wasnt getting a huge piece so they told me anyone could do it and i thought what the hell, they're all supposed to be professionals anyway. So i gave in and went with their recommendation. Huge mistake! In the back, I immediately noticed how disorganized and nasty his area was and heard someone yelling "god damn it Joe! you been stealing my gloves again!!! and some pissy old man came around the corner raising pure hell about his missing gloves, reeking of pot smoke. I wish i'd have left then but i thought i have already paid so we will see how it goes. i should have listened to my instincts. This tattoo was the most painful tattoo i have ever had ( and i have had extensive work done in durham and raleigh. Near the end of the tattoo he started to fall asleep!!!!!!! His head dropped, he was nodding off. When i voiced my concern to him ( to see if he was okay), he slurred "im just tired and were almost done". He was sweaty, pale and incoherent. Against my better judgement, i let him finish. I couldnt get out of this place fast enough. I will never return and i will tell all my friends not to use this place EVER!
