I've been in the DC area for about 8 years and struggled the first 3 years to find a stylist with whom I felt comfortable, was a top-notch professional and was respectful of others time. I eventually gave up, opting instead to go back and forth to NYC. It should be obvious that this option was not only expensive but time-consuming. Something had to give. Then, about 2 and half years ago, a friend gave me Luxe Looks card. While she had never visited the salon personally, she swore that anyone walking out always looked fabulous. She found out about Luxe by accident when she complemented and asked several strangers who their hair stylist was; no surprise they all said Luxe and gave her a business card. After a few weeks of debating with myself, I called and made an appointment and have been coming back every since, and that was more than two years ago. I have never been disappointed with the professionalism, service, experience and ultimate class displayed by all of the employees. My hair is healthier, longer and more vibrant. This is a must-try experience.

I was unaware that it was a braid shop specializing in children's hair. The receptionist came out and ushered us in. She told me a bit about the shop and the services they offer. I thought the price was a little steep for what my daughter wanted but the style came with a wash and beads, and the stylist agreed to braid my daughter's hair wet as I did not want it blow dried, so we moved forward. Ms. Lee Lee did her hair beautifully and she was glittered at the front desk, and out in an hour & 15 mins grinning from ear to ear! The salon was cute. Any little girl would want to be serviced there. There was a comfortable waiting room with couch seating and a large tv that was playing kid appropriate content (I appreciated this because I had my toddler with me as well). They also host birthday parties there. My only complaint would be that the bathroom was not clean or stocked. My daughter's hair lasted a little over a month with a satin cap and consistent moisturizing. Well worth the price! I was pleased with the service provided and plan to return.

When the stylist finally began, her attitude and overall demeanor were noticeably negative, which made the experience uncomfortable. Additionally, the stylist started blow-drying my hair without applying a heat protectant. I had to request that it be used, which should be standard practice. Clients should not have to ask for basic hair care measures. I also found the pricing to be excessive for the level of service provided. Certain treatments, such as deep conditioning, are not included in some services and come at an additional cost. During my appointment, the stylist was whispering and gossiping with another stylist, which felt unprofessional. Overall, the salon appears to charge for many add-ons while not delivering a level of service that justifies the cost. Due to the poor customer service and lack of value, I would not recommend this salon.
