The pie came with a side of homemade chutney and the serving size was pretty big (for a pie). Even though it was filled with cheese, it didn't feel heavy in the stomach. My partner ordered the sausage apple roll (made from free-range Victorian Pork) and it was the biggest sausage roll I've seen. A popular hang out for push bike riders heading up or down the hill, you'll be able to spot it by the amount of lycra clad men and women lazing on the outdoor furniture of a weekend morning. Inside it's a rustic charmer with good coffee and a good little menu serving breakfast and lunch. Still retaining an inner city feel has made Svaks the choice of most locals nowadays, as instead of a view of a passing tram and a line if cars, the trees and open spaces of The Basin Triangle across the road give your eyes a well earned dose of fresh colour. A favourite of mine is the vegetable pancake. Layers of cheese and grilled vegetable make this an omelette from hell, or heaven, that is sure to please.
