    An absolute nightmare. The young men doing the work made an effort and were pleasant enough but management is as bad as it gets.

While making the deal with John, it seemed to go good, however, we found out afterwards there was important information he left out and was not offered! We moved on May 3rd 2025. First,they were late to the location. I got worried, but they showed up 30 minutes or so later. I was told they ran late from an earlier move. So I figured no worries, I was just glad they showed up. The moved seemed to go great, they were nice guys, it was pretty hot out and they worked hard! Once the move was complete, I thanked them and tipped them very well and they left. When we turned on one of the TV's (2 - year old, 75 inch smart TV), exactly where they delivered it and left it, it had a huge crack across the top along with other cracks and white lines going down it. (My boyfriend did tell one of the movers he was worried how he handled the TV and where and how he set it down. And the mover basically told him to hush that it's his job and he knows what he's doing!! ) I was very upset, as I paid good money for that TV. We called the gentleman that we made the deal with, John, and he stated we need to file a claim, but he wasn't sure of the outcome since we didn't have the insurance. We advised him we were not offered insurance and were unaware of that, he admitted he didn't offer it because he knew we were already on a budget. That should have still been offered to us regardless!! Then he asked how they moved the TV, we told him with a moving blanket, he explained it should have been moved in a special box that is around $100. So again, another issue on their behalf. He gave us the info to file a claim, we filed and had tried contacting them by phone and emailed numerous times. They never answer the phone and I never did get any calls back. They took 6 weeks to say they'd give us $50 for our TV that was over $800, two years ago (now worth $618). They said it was because we didn't have the coverage!! But, how are we supposed to be aware of it when we weren't told about it? Also, they moved our TV incorrectly, another issue that was out of our hands and not our fault. I am so disheartened by this. That TV was supposed to go to my daughter when we moved, she was so excited to have it and now all we will get is $50 and a broken TV to take to the dump. Just so wrong and unfair. I would not recommend them after this!!!

    I'm extremely disappointed in how Smooth Moves Cville is handling our broken TV situation in which…read moretheir workers insisted on moving our TV (probably because my partner is pregnant and the smaller mover has "8 kids and expecting more"), broke the TV and acknowledged they broke it but get back to the office and blame us. The office people had the nerve to tell me "the movers don't always know the policy" then why let someone represent your company make false promises IF THEY DON'T KNOW NOTHING. This is on top of being an hour late to the house we moved from, taking at least 3 breaks, and taking several pictures while inside our home for who knows what. Update: Rachel also likes to post as the company on facebook with the same lies as they continue to make. As I expressed there others should be concerned with going with a company that is not trustworthy or honest especially when it involves entering your personal space. Best to avoid. They may be the cheapest but you're definitely get the same customer service as the saying goes "you get what you pay for." Hire friends before them and don't even consider as a last resort.

    I usually refrain from writing negative comments unless it's really bad, but I think certain…read moreelements are worth highlighting . Draw your own conclusion. 1. First, with a positive, the follow up and customer service is great. It has to be, due to the following comments listed. 2. Moved a 1 bedroom apt( bedframe , mattress, dresser , 2 TVs , and a sofa), and it took 5 hours , with a locked elevator , in the same building, separated by 2 floors.Everything additional was boxed or bagged. No loose items. 3. They attempted to change the charges the day of the move , even though we had confirmed less than 24 hours prior. Claimed the 3rd person Was due to their double booking, snow , etc . And the additional man would speed up the process . Did i mention this simple 1 bedroom move took 5 hours for an in building, one bedroom transfer? Does that seem expedited ? Everything was a group effort, and teaching moment. this slowed the move down. For example, it Took 20 minutes of discussion to figure out how to disassemble a bed frame efficiently . Constantly going back and forth to the moving truck on the clock ( for what idk ) . If not watched , disappearing for 15-20 minutes at a time . 4. I was advised that I could leave my dresser items in the drawers, and they could move them efficiently. I now have to find someone to take my dresser apart, due to items some how making their way to inside unreachable areas insiders dresser. 5. I have to find someone to reassemble my sofa. They didn't put it back together. 6. You're charged 30 minutes to and from . So, you owe an hour before they start . They didn't have to leave the property, but charged me fuel . How do you charge someone fuel, and time for arrival, and departure ? Seems like the rate is only labor . You're also charged for any items used to rap to transport furniture . The intimation that they try to give you when you book is that is inclusionary. 7. With a discount, A DISCOUNT, this move cost me $1,000. Between the random 3rd man up charge , wrapping items for the large furniture , fuel charge , insurance that they make you cover that they don't disclose until the last minute that is almost $200 additional ... 8. Moved my items into the hallway, and left them there unattended while moving. 9. Even if you pay by phone, they want you to write your credit card information on a random piece of paper. It's a hard NO, for me. Yes, I signed, and let them go about their business. It's exhausting to keep debating obvious discrepancies, and hidden fees during a move which is a top 3 stressor in general. Just .... Don't . Use someone else .

I booked my move a week in advance and paid a $100 deposit after being told it would guarantee my moving date and secure my spot. Then, only 3 days before my scheduled move, the manager -- I believe his name was David -- called to tell me they were fully booked for the entire week and that my move would either need to be rescheduled or canceled altogether. I made it very clear from the beginning that my apartment lease ends on the 31st and that I needed to move before then. Had this company been honest about the fact that paying a deposit did not actually guarantee service, I would have hired another moving company much earlier. Now I'm left scrambling at the last minute, despite having everything planned out. I also have to report to work in another state on the 1st, so this has created a major inconvenience and unnecessary stress. To make matters worse, speaking with them on the phone was a complete disaster. The communication was unprofessional, disorganized, and unacceptable. They agreed to refund the $100 deposit, but that does not make up for the inconvenience, stress, and potential consequences this situation may cause me. If I receive penalties from my landlord for a late move-out or face any employment-related consequences because of this company's failure to honor their commitment, I will absolutely be exploring all possible legal and consumer protection options.
