There were so many beautiful things there. The people running the estate sale were very professional and polite. I only spent around $250 and love the items I bough except for.......the pair of of CHANEL sunglasses that were sold as authentic glasses. I don't get hung up on name brand items however, I am a stickler for honesty. I questioned the authenticity of the glasses several times during the course of our conversation. I was told the reason why they were priced at such a steal was because the lenses were scratched. I looked and in fact they were scratched. I asked one last time before paying for them if they were authentic and was assured that they were. I was also shown a pair another pair of sunglasses; a pair of black CHANEL glasses in the case priced for $300 along with several pieces of Tiffany jewelry. I shied away from the Tiffany after overhearing a lady well versed in Tiffany question it's authenticity. Had I bought that pair instead of the pair my situation could be much worse than embarrassed. I asked one last about the glasses, knowing that my plan was to have the lenses replaced and was reassured they were the real deal. Taking their word, I was very pleased to get the glasses at such an amazing price. I took my glasses to have the lenses replaced only to be told that they were in fact FAKE. I WAS SOOO EMBARRASSED AND DISAPPOINTED. What made it worse was that there are some really super easy ways to determine whether the glasses are authentic. So easy that even I can now spot a FAKE with no problem. My problem is not that they are fake, my problem is that I think when the glasses were priced....whoever priced them...knew they were fake. Secondly, whoever sold them should not sell them as authentic unless they are qualified to do so. Lesson learned on my part. A relatively inexpensive one (luckily). I see huge possibility for expensive errors ~ just my thoughts and opinion.

She told me yes and mentioned a tip for the person who helped. A gentleman then helped my husband carry the mirror down the stairs. At the top of the stairs, a woman who I believe is named Brittany Y. began following closely behind them on the staircase, which felt unnecessary and made an already difficult situation more stressful. Once downstairs, I handed a cash tip directly to the gentleman. At that point, Brittany took the money from his hand and immediately asked me if I had more to give. When I said "excuse me," she responded, "Not trying to be tacky, but can you give him more money?" I declined. Instead of leaving it there, she remained outside harassing me while my husband and I secured the mirror and continued to ask us for more money. During this time, she told me that "this is her business, and the employee only makes $15 an hour and she doesn't have insurance for them to move things". This was uncomfortable and inappropriate. Discussing an employee's wages and internal policies with a customer-- and especially asking for more money--is highly unprofessional. I did apologize just to end the interaction, but the situation should never have escalated this way. I was willing to tip for help, but being pressured repeatedly and having the money taken from the employee was unacceptable. While I appreciate the help from the gentleman, this experience left a very negative impression. If employees are not supposed to assist with moving items, Brittany could have said something before they started down the stairs.

I trusted them because Shane's mother, Marlys Parker, is my neighbor, and I believed that connection meant they would be fair and honest during a very difficult time. Unfortunately, that trust was misplaced. The contract was vague, but I was told to expect a full, properly advertised estate sale. Instead, the day before the sale the type of sale was changed without my consent, and in my opinion it became more of a "picker-style" event. Preparation was minimal. They failed to show up on the agreed-upon date, worked only short hours, and rushed the setup. They also listed the sale online with the wrong address on EstateSales.net. On Friday, the first (and least trafficked) day of the sale, nearly all high-value items disappeared quickly, including my father's entire lifetime Snap-on tool collection (worth $7,000-$10,000), specialty tools, and a garage full of equipment. Their vague receipts only listed $945 total for "tools." In addition, my father's Harley-Davidson motorcycle parts, memorabilia, and paraphernalia were also gone by the end of the sale, yet the receipts do not reflect anywhere near their true value. Receipts overall were non-itemized, with questionable entries like "clothes" for $400 or a "denim jacket" for $200, while valuable items were undersold. At the end of the sale, every valuable item was gone, yet the estate received almost nothing in return. Based on what I saw, I believe this may have been an in-house resale situation, where items were intentionally sold cheap only to be resold later at higher prices. The family also owns The Perfect Piece Emporium, an antique business in Kemah, which in my opinion raises serious concerns about where my father's belongings actually ended up. Property was mishandled: they cut through a locked fence instead of using the combination lock, left keys in an exterior door, and unplugged appliances, which caused my brother to lose power in his room and disabled the washer/dryer. We did not pay for a clean out, but in the end we were cleaned out of all valuables. What remained was thrown into piles in the garage and left in total disarray. At payout, they even tried to give me 50% instead of the contracted 60%, only correcting it when I questioned them. They also spelled my name wrong on both the contract and the check. Many of their positive Google reviews appear to be written by family and friends, which in my opinion made the business look more reputable than it actually is. In my opinion, this was a serious abuse of trust. Families going through grief deserve compassion and honesty, not misleading practices and financial harm. Based on my experience, I strongly caution anyone against hiring Family Tree Estate Sales. Protect your valuables, demand itemized receipts, and choose a company with true transparency and integrity.
