Still, I recently ventured into Formby Flooring (for flooring, surprisingly) and I found their collection was fairly extensive and good value for money. Whilst it wasn't the most exciting place to go (what flooring shop is?), I found the staff to be helpful and knowledgeable as they were able to help me with my queries, of which there were many. I was there looking for laminate flooring but they also have a range of carpets, rugs and cushions and whilst they aren't the most interesting things to read about, it is still useful to know a good place to go fairly locally if you don't fancy a trip to Homebase or somewhere further away. They also have a free quotes service which can be especially handy when you are scouting around for the best deals.

My mates mum lives on Rose Lane and he says she can't get enough of this place and all it's little miniature watering cans and flowery, chintzy ornaments. Their service stretches from the house looking like Blackpool Illuminations in October to catering for winter weddings. Alongside installing the decorations, they also create their own designs. The company have provided for many famous faces as the owner's career started in Hollywood, and has now expanded to some of the North West's most prestigious venues. There is a huge warehouse in Wavertree open for you to take a look at between October and February and I strongly recommend a visit. It's beautiful.

This place is a family run firm who can compete on price with the biggest carpet retailers. But the real plus point with these chaps is that they use their own fitters and they'll obviously be able to help with technical stuff given their expertise. They have a fabulous local reputation and its well deserved in my opinion. They also have a good sized carpark which isn't obvious from the street but worth knowing about. Also they are very negotiable on price I've found and its worth haggling a bit. They have a bathroom division which I've heard good stuff about - I think its run from the same building but its actually a separate business.
