The style of the rooms is luxurious including the bridal suite with the jacuzzi and the huge 4 poster bed which was absolute pure luxury and I would recommend it to anyone thinking of staying there on their wedding night. The food was very good and the service was excellent. The staff are really friendly, helpful and professional and couldnt be more obliging. The leisure facilities are good, including the pool, jacuzzi, steam room and the well equipped gymasium. It also has a beauty salon offering lots of treatments and tanning room. The hotel is located in the countryside yet close enough to Chester and other places to visit. The grounds are lovely too with statues and the old oak tree and I imagine that in the summer it would be ideal to use the outdoor areas for weddings, and parties. The hotel is a good place to stay if you are newly weds, couples, or anyone celebrating an event or just for pure relaxation. We came away feeling totally relaxed and rejuvenated. I cannot recommend this hotel and the staff highly enough and would give an absolute 10/10 and cannot fault it in any way. A big Thank You to all the staff at the hotel for a lovely 3 night break!

This is a lovely hotel, with a welcoming, trendy lobby and luxury rooms. We stayed in a 5th floor…read moreroom with a 'river view', and we weren't disappointed. The bed was firm and comfortable (though we should have asked for extra pillows), and the bathroom is cool and clean, with a large bath and a shower 'wet room'. The toiletries are really good. You have a smart TV with lots of channels, and wifi is free (though we didn't test it, having a good 4G signal on our phones). Room service was poor during our stay, and we would only comment that cold pizza that looks less than 'luxury' is not worth £23. We sent it back, and the room service manager was very professional and apologetic. Breakfast is good, with a selection of cooked or Continental goodies, often made fresh rather than served in hot containers. I had waffles with banana, with melted Nutella served in a small copper pan. My partner had bacon and egg English muffins, which he enjoyed despite the eggs being overcooked. We washed it down with cappuccinos and fruit juice. Other than the poor experience with room service, and almost being charged for two breakfasts instead of one at checkout, it's an exceptional hotel with friendly staff and nice places to hang out, such as the brasseries and the 2nd floor hallway, which includes a yellow submarine suspended from the ceiling! We would stay here again.

The decor is dark and mysterious and puts you in a bit of a cheeky and mischievous mood, which I cannot explain, you'll just have to check it out to understand what I mean. Being in this mood is by the way ideal for when you are heading out. Head out we certainly did not, bit of Champs was on the cards courtesy of the boss in the dimly lit moulin rouge decor bar, i was getting rather comfy with the soft cushions while admiring my surroundings. In fact in our merry chatter we discussed all the other Mal's in the UK and despite being in awe of the place I made it my mission to stay at all of the Mal's by the end of 2010. Two down only 8 to go :-s but not to worry, an adventure awaits......I am particularly looking forward to visiting the one in Oxford which used to be a .....wait for it....prison... yes folks your rooms used to be someone's cage. I'll have to pass judgement once I have had the pleasure. The other thing I can remember is how much I enjoyed showering here. It truly feels like you are bathing in the rain and the inhouse shower gels are just so refreshing. It is the attention to detail which makes the experience so fulfilling. I couldn't sum it up much better than that really. Fulfilling.... The funny thing about hotels is that you actually don't spend that much time there. It is testament to a good hotel therefore if you do remember little things, it shows that the short experience was worthy enough to leave some good memories..... My stay at the Mal pool was as good as it gets.... Apart from perhaps Hilton I would say this is arguably the best hotel in Liverpool, so break the penny piggy bank and stay here instead of a budget B&B and you will not regret...

TL;DR - Sheer luxury in the Welsh countryside…read more We came here to celebrate my partner's recent birthday and couldn't have been happier with our choice. Palé Hall is a gorgeous old house which has been lovingly converted into a boutique hotel - as soon as you come down the drive you realise how unique this place is. Although it's a hotel you feel like you're a guest at a stately home... Mark kept saying he felt like he was starring in Gosford Park. We arrived on a cold day and were greeted on the door and welcome into the gorgeous wood panelled hall where a roaring fire was burning. Staff gave us two glasses of champagne whilst they took our bags up to our room. We were in one of the smaller "classic" rooms, but it was beautifully appointed and spacious - a huge bed, sofa, big wardrobe and a TV hidden inside a mirror! Water, tea, coffee and home made cookies were in the room - plus a bottle of mead! For dinner we ate in the Huntsman's bistro and everything was delicious - I had salmon followed by monkfish and dahl, Mark had chicken liver terrine followed by rare beef. We also had some amazing desserts, followed by coffee and petit fours. We rounded out the evening with a whiskey sat by the fire and it was wonderful. Next morning we had breakfast which was superb - there's lots to choose from but we went for muesli, orange juice and some pastries followed by the full Welsh breakfast of bacon, scrambled eggs, sausage, mushroom, tomato, laverbread and black pudding. There were a couple of hiccups - our order of toast didn't appear for breakfast, and neither did our morning newspaper - but these were minor and didn't detract from the overall wonderful experience. Great food, amazing surroundings and excellent service.
