It costs $24.95 to Uber to Tybee. But we couldn't get coverage back for the last two hours.. Googled 'Tybee Taxis' and Tybee Turtle popped up offering cheap and friendly rides, Nice! Called Tybee Turtle Transit because we were stranded thinking they'd be a good alternative, but they didn't answer the phone after three calls. After sitting on the bench in front of a gas station for awhile they eventually called me back, and the bloke who answered couldn't even say, "Tybee Turtle Transit" without getting tongue tied. I asked him the fair for two people from Tybee to Savannah and he said, "$55." I replied "Oh..." a little dejected because it was nearly double what I would have to pay on Uber or Lyft if I could get ride coverage. I went to discuss it with my partner to see if she still wanted to do it. And before she could answer TYBEE TURTLE TRANSIT HUNG UP ON ME. Not Cheap. Not Friendly. We were looking forward to using Turtle Taxi based on the reviews and their social media pages. Upon calling they said they'd be at our location in a few minutes! Much to our surprise, a Breezy Taxi showed up, and we told him we were waiting for Turtle Transit. The driver radioed back to dispatch and was informed TT passed our ride off to them, much to our dismay. Unfortunately, the Breezy cab was one of the dirtiest and smelled of stale smoke and cats, so we were vastly disappointed with the quality of our ride. While we didn't actual ride the Turtle Transit, passing a fare off to a sub par company, does not reflect positively on them. Next time we may look at Lyft/Uber. read more

Mike from Tybee Turtle Transit is a hero! It was my first time visiting Tybee Island, and learned that while Ubers will occasionally drive you from the airport to the island, it does not work the other way. Meaning they hardly pick you up from the island to take you back to the airport. In a panic I googled other rideshare options and found Tybee Turtle Transit. Mike picked up right away, booked my ride the next day and arrived promptly as planned. Very grateful for this service. Highly recommend!! read more

Tybee Turtle came to the rescue early in the morning when I needed a ride to the Savannah Airport and realized at the last minute that it is impossible to get an Uber from Tybee Island back to Savannah. They responded quickly to an early morning call for help, advised me as to what time I should leave to make my flight, and had a driver available at exactly the right time. Highly recommend Tybee Turtle. I called earlier in the day to ask about transportation from Tybee into downtown. Al quoted a price and told me to call when I was ready to go, that I didn't need to schedule ahead. I was skeptical but said okay. When we were ready to go, I called and was told someone would be there in 5 minutes. Al picked us up in 5 minutes and took us to our destination. He was very friendly and we had wonderful conversation all the way to our restaurant. He also supplies transportation between any tybee spots for $3 a person. Charged $3 dollars a piece for 5 people. $15 dollars for a mile , a rip off. Don't use them take Lyft instead!

We were on Tybee for our daughter's wedding this past weekend. I called and spoke with Al ahead of the trip and he assured me that he would take good care of our guests during the trip. He surpassed our expectations with his polite and quick service. Not only did they transport our guests on the island but they took our guests home from our reception in Savannah and transported our guests to the Savannah airport. We've used this cab company for their $3.00 shuttles around Tybee, but called yesterday morning requesting a ride to the airport. They were able to accommodate our requested pick up time( less than 1/2 hour away). Heather promptly arrived and we had one of the best experiences for a longer cab ride. She was professional and friendly. We enjoyed the conversation. We will definitely use this service again, whether just across the island or into Savannah. We chose this local company because their fares were actually a little better than estimated by Uber and Lyft. read more

Just take an Uber or Lyft. We took a cab after reading it was 3.00 per person but when we got to our destination it was 10.00? No meter or any way to quantify your ride charge. Seems like after the driver realized we were not from around here he called his own price. Not to mention I didn't have a working seatbelt. After all of this we came to find out that an Uber would have been cheaper. Don't waste your time. read more
