I just had to stop myself from grabbing pens. There is a lot to choose from and if I don't control myself I shall be pen-niless (LOL). Typo is a stationary shop that is quirky and fun. I love the concept and the name and the vibe and the merch and just....everything!!!! It's a gift shop for anyone in your life including yourself - and mind you, it doesn't break the bank. They got paper, trinkets, and pens in different designs for the artist, doodler, dreamer and the writer. Get your pen on and start marching over there! Sadly I've has 2 really disappointing experiences with This location. First time I came here there was nothing on the shelves. I couldn't tell if they were closing or just restocking. I assumed it was there restocking day and left. Today I was going to order online but the pictures nor descriptions give you a solid idea of what the planners look like inside. Thus the reason for the trip. I didn't want to order it online when I could look at it in person and purchase of the spot. But the store isn't open. The mall opens at 11am and supposedly this store is supposed to be open too. However it is now 12 mins past 11am (it will probably be 20+mins past once I actually post this review) and it doesn't looks like they are opening anytime soon. I rushed in from the peninsula just to get here around opening time. I keep observing people walking up to the sign and making comments that they are closed. Looks like there a quiet a few people disappointed that it's not open. It's almost 11:30 and still no one in sight. Unfortunately, this was a total waste of time and gas to come here since this was the only reason for me coming to the mall today. read more

I was doing some early Christmas and Thanksgiving shopping during Halloween, which is today. Happy Halloween! I have to explain why I love Typo,; I was shopping for some gifts and I found some AMAZING stationary. I went to check-out and this AMAZING, Sales Associate,; a very upbeat and pop style guy who was helping me did an AMAZING job of pointing out these PENS at the cash wrap. I got my stationary and pens for a good deal 3 for $10 and 7.99 sale notebook and a 2 for 15.00 notebooks, NOT BAD. If it wasn't for the guy working pointing out the PENS I would not know about those. Thank you guy! read more

This place only has three reviews? Three! Well, it's now going to have four. It's a relatively new store in Valley Fair Mall which seems to be losing business's faster than you can say lobsta mac and cheese. Still, this place has a survived for a few months, and I say, good for them! In a mall which has tried really hard to stick its nose up in the air, this place offers interesting goods and very reasonable prices. Sure, most of the things in here are items you really don't need to live your life, but any place that has coffee cups with bulldogs on them, you're going to get my seal of approval. You better believe it. I like this place, It's a fun little shop and I hope they are able to last in the Mall which seems to be losing shops quicker than the Titanic sank. IMHO Wow this is a cool store! This is a great place to find unusual, cute, and whimsical pop culture gifts for all occasions! It's kind of like a stationery store and kind of not. Believe me, you'll be able to find a unique gift for someone and even better, yourself! The store is bright and colorful, and just draws you inside. My husband saw Typo from across the mall and wanted to check it out! We had a lot of fun meandering around. They even had a sale section! I had to ask the sales clerk for the sales price of an item and she said "the price is on the tag..." Not exactly the tone and answer I was looking for. Well I had to explain that I couldn't read the tiny print so could she please look and tell me. Other than that, a fun visit. Yes, I'll be back. read more

Cool stuff but you have to watch their prices. There was a Rolling Stones tote my wife wanted. They had one hanging in the front with stuff in the pockets to show the stuff you can put in it. We saw the price tag-$40. Cool. We went to grab one from behind the display one and noticed it was $50. Wait a minute. We asked the guy and he said it was $50 and trailed off about licensing or something. My wife then said, well we will buy the one marked $40. Uh...no it will be $50. After trying to get our point across that it should be $40 we just gave up, even though it's ILLEGAL to have the $40 price tag on it and not sell it for that. Will not shop there again. read more

Beware and make sure you check your receipt before leaving this store. They charged me $10 more than the price tagged on the product, I found out when I got home. Well...now I know, it's typo duh. We live 45 minutes away so won't bother coming back, gas would've cost more. read more

Yay for another cute store located inside the mall! I love stationery stuff and this store is filled with cute note cards, note books, stickers, and other cute random stuff like tumblers, mugs, magnets, etc. There's some reasonable priced items, but most of the stuff is kind of pricey. It's like a Hallmark store, but more cute. I didn't have much time to explore the inside of the store, but I will be back cause I love cute stuff and I love stationery stuff :) read more

Cashier: No. It's too expensive to make. Me: I will buy another product to try then. Cashier: If you open it, we won't take it back. Very curt manner. Not friendly toward customer searching for a product. Gave erroneous information about store inventory. Did not apologize for giving wrong information. What a great addition to the mall! This place is located upstairs by the food court. They sell a lot of great gift items. Things they sell include luggage tags (including leather ones), laptop covers, water bottles (with lots of relevant/trendy phrases), flasks, lunch bags (one shaped like a milk carton), pencils, pens, makeup pouches, pencil pouches, keychains, cards, mugs, magnets, pillows, pins, wallets, stationary, stuffed animals, lights and picture frames. Everything is very trendy and cute. The quality isn't the highest but the price is reasonable so you get what you pay for. I think this place belongs to Cotton On so you can compare the quality/price to their clothing items. read more

I absolutely love this store! Every time I think it's really the only reason I go to valley fair now. I love the notebooks and the water bottles. Literally the BEST store I've ever been into! The woman working there was so nice and helpful. She made me feel the most welcomed I have ever felt in a store. Just wish I could of got her name because she deffinatley deserves a raise! Everything in the store was amazing quality and super cute! I went in there convinced I wasn't going to spend anything and just look. I came out with hundreds of dollars worth of stuff and still didn't get everything I wanted. An inviting store from the outside to make you eager enough to walk inside and want you to wander around and look at a bunch of interesting and cute things..... 1 star! I'm not going there ever again. I advise not to go in there and attempt to shop with children. This Sunday before Labor Day, a cashier walked up to my sister and said, "Are these your kids? I told them not to open the door and it's for employees only." She did not have a nice tone approaching my sister. As I recall, the kids did not open any door. They were with me when my sister switched off to her other child. No 10 second gap! I and my sister walked over to where the kids were playing with a toy hand display at the display stand and looked at the wall to look and see a door she was talking about and it was a push door. I didn't even notice it. As a matter of fact, the push door looks just like part of the wall (camouflage) with the bookshelf wall paper display. We approached her to see what she was talking about then ohh and then she ragged about she told the kids twice not to open the door and they did not listen in front other customers at the cash wrap with her eyes rolling and head turning as we walked away. Now, when she approached my sister she didn't say she told the kids twice about anything. I observed what was going on and she did not tell the kids the 2nd time anything! I was with them and she approached my sister when I walked away from the kids 5ft. and I was still watching the kids. The first time she only walked pass the kids and the kids did not play with the door. The kids only played near the push door closer to a display stand because they were interested in a display hand and it made them eager to play with it. Bottom line: This store needs to put a post that says employees only. The employee needs to learn to approach things with less excitement and no drama and learn to approach the parents instead of the kids. What is this? I was annoyed she was approaching the kids discreetly without mine and my sisters knowledge if we couldn't tell she was saying anything to them. If she was able to see who the mother was then tell the parent instead of warning the kids. The kids was never out of our site and never tried to enter the employee entrance nor played with the push door. Not cool trying to get the kids in trouble for nothing! 1 star if that! read more

Super cute stationary shop! Evidently very popular too, as every time I visit it's packed. Pretty things, cute Star Wars merch, and gorgeous art supplies. However, I have to lower the rating to 3 stars. I recently visited again, and I was browsing the store waiting for my friend to get a drink (the store is near the food court). I was just minding my own buisness, checking out the new stock, and I wanted to get a new art notebook (cause I'm an art Ho). This one employee comes up to me, takes the notebook from my hand, and asks, "can I hold this for you at the register?" And he walks away, nothing else. I'm not dumb, and I know asking to "hold" something at the register means they think you're going to steal. I could've bought one of everything they had in that shop, but they lost any possible buisness they had with me that day. I'd rather go to the stationary shop on Santana Row instead, where they're super helpful, kind, and don't imply their customers are stealing, thank you very much. Overall the store is great, but the employees need some training, especially on proper customer service! read more
