I prefer the Me Club to the U club, but that's just Me. Whereas this isn't me. It's U. U Club, that is. These are apartments right behind the mall and close to the university so perfect for college kids but expensive and not very well maintained so it's a mixed bag. I wouldn't want to live in these apartments, mainly because they constantly smell like weed, sometimes cigarettes but allllways weed... if you're a college kid and you don't mind the smell of weed, maybe these can be great places for you to live and much better than on campus. read more

U Club Binghamton - U club? Me club! - Apartments Near Me - Vestal, New York

I lived in a phase 2 townhouse for two years now (will be moving out for my senior year). There's a lot of criticism towards Uclub that I feel isn't fair, however, there is also a lot that isn't discussed. I will be alternating positive and negative aspects (11 total): 1) SO MUCH NOISE... the walls are so thin. Way thinner than campus like literally hear your roommates talk in their room. Even worse, THERES A VENT RIGHT ON TOP OF EVERY DOOR. WHY... Such a bad decision. Everything from downstairs gets amplified through the big open staircase. When I'm in my room I can hear whole conversations from downstairs. If the TV is on, you can hear it as if there is no door. 2) Very quick and friendly maintenance. Every time I call they come by the following day or two. They have replaced my lights, installed a shower filter I ordered from amazon. Even installed a bidet attachment I ordered... And they do this quick. I know some people are complaining about them coming in when you aren't home, but there is now an option when filing a work order that asks if you grant them permission. 3) The price is kind of outrageous compared to what they're offering. They're now requiring utility fees as if you are not paying enough. I am currently paying 1k a month. My next house will be 450 + utilities, It's much bigger, also has a pool, better kitchen. 4) The location is really good. I walk to campus most of the time. takes 25ish minutes at a calm pace (15-20 if i'm late). And every 15 min there is a bus that can take you to campus (as long as the shuttle is running). IF YOU HAVE A CAR: If travel is not a problem then just find a place westside, you'll get a better house for less money. 5) The lighting is atrocious. I feel like i'm in a cave here. It actually gets me a little depressed. Downstairs is insanely dark. We had to buy our own lights because the ones provided are so bad. I literally set up a strip of lightbulbs across my room just so I could have better lighting. There's only one window downstairs. It feels like a basement... 6) Lots of closet space, I made a mini gym in my closet 7) There is NO PARKING for guests!! There is a small lot fit for maybe 25 cars. After about 5pm it is filled. There is no parking allowed in the other lots after dark, and there are no other lots anywhere in the area (I looked). You would literally have to pray there was parking if you wanted to have friends overnight. 8) Gym is right there. Literally walk over it's very convenient 9) Gym has no bench press. The only other gym in the plaza is planet fitness which also has no bench press...rip. 10) The study area is very convenient. The study rooms are usually taken but if you're lucky or stay long enough you can take a room. My review was written entirely based on my own experiences and how I felt at that time. I worked my way into my managerial position as a reflection of my positive experiences I had living here (which I did, for two years, from fall 2018-spring 2020). If it was possible to give negative stars I would. In the middle of the pandemic outbreak, I reached out to their customer service office today. My daughter rents an apartment there and I asked them if they would prorate the lease so that she can leave like the University did with on campus housing. I tried to ask the very unprofessional, nasty girl on the other end of the phone if she reads or watches the news. She said these are corporate policies and that's it. They just don't care about the students at all, just the MONEY!!. By the way, this U Club thing has nothing to do with Binghamton University, even though they promote themselves as "STUDENT HOUSING." So I ended up calling Uclub front desk around the time I made my first post. They told me they would contact corporate and then get back to me. Almost a month and a half later I never received any email or call back. Turns out my dispute was never even sent, which I only found out after calling the corporate phone number that Rachel shared with me as a reply on my first review. I told them that they were charging me for object removal that I never saw before and they told me I was a liar. They sent me a photo of my toilet lid covered with dust/dirt with EVERYTHING around it completely spotless. BEFORE I MOVED OUT, I SPENT DAYS WITH MY FAMILY CLEANING MY WHOLE ROOM AND BATHROOM and they have the audacity to say I am a liar and say that I would leave an obvious mess on my toilet lid when EVERYTHING IN THE PHOTO AROUND THE TOILET IS LITERALLY SPOTLESS??? WHY WOULD I CLEAN EVERYTHING TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE BRAND NEW AND THEN LEAVE A HUGE MESS ON THE TOILET SEAT. UCLUB go to hell. It's not the money at this point, it's the principle. The lady I spoke with in corporate literally told me word for word that logic is irrelevant when making the final decision. There's a reason why all your residents hate living with you guys. You'd rather call someone a liar and scam them out of 100 dollars then end on a good note. read more

I beg you to not choose U Club Binghamton for off-campus living. U Club takes being cheap, cutting costs, and overcharging residents to a whole new level. Every year I have lived here, they have managed to beat themselves at becoming more horrible, cheap, and unhelpful. They removed cable TV, are completely closed on Sunday's starting this year, have doubled the price of parking each year for the last 3 years, and have a pool that is closed for the majority of warm days during the school year due to "maintenance", and that's just to name a few. They will charge you hundreds of dollars when you move out for "Cleaning Fees" that are non-existent. The manager at the U Club Binghamton was fired recently for being awful, which is saying something given how rotten the whole organization is. Dealing with management was an awful experience: One-word replies, Rude answers, and complete disrespect. U Club will try to draw you in with decent apartments and houses, as well as a nice clubhouse. But it is in no way worth the disaster of dealing with a corporation that will do anything to milk every dollar it can out of you. You can be pretty confident in knowing that if you move into U Club now, by the time you leave there will be a few of the perks gone, parking costs will triple, rent up a couple of hundred dollars a month, a bogus fee or two, and you will be wishing you had just saved yourself the hassle and lived somewhere else. read more

They did ZERO relief for current students and their families who are struggling during the pandemic. Despite moving out, they will continue to nickel and dime you and refuse to provide adequate explanation or proof. They will mail your damages report by mail without tracking and accuse you of throwing it away when mail service is backed up during a pandemic. The office then contacted us over email only after the period to contest the charges has long passed. I inquired about the cleaning charges and originally the office claimed that they had contracted professional cleaners, which amounted to $300/unit. This is an absolute lie as they refused to provide any documentation or proof and then claimed that it wasn't contracted work at all. At this point the manager has passed me along to collections and is refusing to respond to my emails. Majority of the positive reviews here are from staff. Please never live here unless you need to. The student staff is very nice but I have never encountered worse management and people who could not care less about the well-being of students. Do not fall for their claim to be student housing, they falsely advertise this to make parents and students feel more comfortable living here but they do not act like student housing in any way, shape, or form. My roommates and I moved into hazardous living conditions (mold in vents, vomit, hair, urine, etc.) and were left with no choice but to clean the entire house as uclub management believed we were lying and making up the situation and photoshopping images to create this story. They were very rude and defensive tried to blame the situation on us and said because we moved in one day early without permission they were going to clean the house that day we moved in. We explained that we had all gotten permission to move in early and they said someone had failed to enter that into their system. They also do not have a cleaning service to clean the houses prior to moving in, the student employees have to clean the houses and as they are not professional cleaners it is understandable that the house was not cleaned appropriately, nor should students have to clean mold, vomit, hair, etc. from houses. The only way we had any resolution to this issue was by contacting one of the leaders of the company who was very understanding and helped amend the situation. Later in the year my roommate and I had extreme roommate issues with our other roommates, leading to safety concerns, and uclub was extremely unhelpful in trying to help us. Also, you cannot end your lease when you graduate, prior to signing my lease I asked to end my lease in May instead of July as I am graduating and do not want to pay for the extra two months I will not be here. They said I cannot end my lease early as they sold out of leases ending in May so I am forced to pay for the extra two months I will not be here for, although I do not understand how you sell out of an intangible item that is a legal document. The fact that they force people to live here for the amount of time they want them to and give no choice as to when you can end the legal document you sign with them is unfair to college students who cannot afford to pay thousands of dollars in rent towards somewhere they are no longer living. While uclub has many perks, if you have any issues while living here management will know how to make them even worse. read more

TLDR; U Club Binghamton (I call them SUS Club Binghamton) is the equivalent of your toxic ex coming back to haunt you. I would honestly suggest Hayes instead. Do your research on Google and look around on Reddit. Take the 5 star ratings on Yelp with a grain of salt because they are student employees from the leasing office... so of course everything is great because nothing is going to happen to them :) If you look at the unrecommended reviews, you can see many 5 star reviews made by fake accounts. Pros: close to campus, lots of food options in the plaza (Chipotle, Ebi, Tullys, Starbucks,etc), cool maintenance staff Cons: I have always steered myself away from interacting with management because of the horror stories I've heard. I have heard of items going missing after winter break and staff coming in without warning to do "inspections". Why did I even decide to live here even though I knew about these stories? I wanted to live off campus but still close in proximity because I didn't have a car and I thought it wouldn't happen to me. I turned a blind eye to student staff rolling their eyes when I came to pick up packages, my room full of dead bugs/ dried up millipedes when I moved in, and the unfair contract I signed to live here. You pay the full month worth of rent for August but you only get to move in a few days before the semester starts. If you want to move in early, you have to pay EXTRA for each day. It is completely ridiculous when previous residents have to move out by end of July. I had a friend who lived here before and they tried to charge her $75 for not moving out by 9am. She managed to argue her way out of the fee but this shows a lack of empathy U Club has for their residents. But alas, 3 months AFTER I moved out I got a letter about a late balance on my account of $50, which totals to $200, because our common room was dirty. The bill detail was prepared on 7/30, printed on 8/19 but mailed out on 10/1. Out of my house only 2 of us received this letter so... how was the rest of the house supposed to know we had an overdue cleaning charge? Our housing accounts were closed after we moved out and we didn't receive emails to notify us of the charge which displays how unorganized U Club Binghamton is. After a lengthy email to the bookkeeper, she did reduce the charges to $25 each person and included pictures of our living unit. For most of the pictures, you would have to zoom in to see that there were a few pieces of hair on the floor. My housemates and I did clean and vacuum so the hairs on the floor were probably from the hectic move out process. The most reasonable photo was the dirty oven... but that still does not scream $100 cleaning fee to me. I asked for a copy of the bill that management got from their "contracted professional cleaners" but I got hit back with the "it was your responsibility to clean before moving out"... smells SUS. I really think that the actual cleaning fee was a lot cheaper but management tried to scam us for more money. It is outrageous to receive a bill like this in the middle of a pandemic and so many months after I left Binghamton. Even when the pandemic first started, U Club refused to allow people to end their lease even if they wanted to move out... meaning they had to pay $800+ monthly from April-August. They probably saved so much money with utilities from the rent they collected from residents that moved home because of pandemic. U Club is absolutely shameless and will do anything to make extra money out of you. If you made it to the end, thank you for reading my story. I've been a resident of UClub since last year and I've really enjoyed living here. The move in process was smooth and stress free. The management and other staff members have always been kind and helpful whenever I needed something. I am also glad that they have been taking covid precautions seriously. They have been attentive to keeping common areas like the gym and study areas clean, which is great to see. As a student at Binghamton, I think the location is perfect. I get the feel and freedom of living off campus, but I can get to campus easily with busses that frequently run back and forth. I can even walk to campus on nice days which is awesome! read more

I am a parent of a Binghamton college student who lived at U Club last year. I was concerned when my daughter wanted to sign the lease because there were so many bad reviews. She wanted to rush and sign a lease so she could save some money by getting in on their early specials, so we did. Now that she has experienced some of the complaints I read about first hand, I can say the bad reviews are true. We had an issue with cleaning charges at the end of our lease. First of all they left the apartment spotless without any damages (I picked my daughter up and was very impressed with her cleaning ability). The four of them were charged over $250. When we inquired with the management team we were spoken down to as if we didn't understand how to clean, when we were telling them the apartment was spotless. They also said on more than one occasion that these kids need to learn to be "accountable." I inquired about having walk throughs upon their check out, since most college students don't stay until July 31st. I was told you have to return to the apartment the last week of July for walk throughs, really? So once you hand in your key, you are responsible for your apartment even though you no longer have access to it, really? As far as the good reviews, I read that they are from employees. I did see a review from the manager herself saying "it's a good place to live and management is friendly, ok. You have to ask yourself why they need to do that. This is at best, disingenuous, and at worst, deceptive marketing. Finally , after all the yelp reviews they leave a customer service number to call. This is to make you believe they care. If only they had zero stars! This is the most unprofessional and unreasonable corporation we have ever come across in our lives. Not only do they not repair issues in a timely fashion (or at all) the units may be having, they take advantage of the young, college students all the time. No one enforces residents being extremely loud or other issues like vomit not being cleaned up in a hallway or stairwell in a timely fashion. Even though their lease is very stringent, they sold our daughter on "where students love living" which is so far from the truth. (Future students, in our opinion, figure out another plan!). Unfortunately, we renewed her lease for the fall 2020 semester as you have to do it far in advance. Fast forward, to the COVID-19 pandemic, families be quarantined, people fighting for their lives and lives lost daily, U Club IS BUSINESS AS USUAL! No ands if or buts ...you are responsible for each month's rent (even if vacated and quarantining at home (as kids should be allowed to be in the comforts of their own homes with family members instead of being in isolation). Once you signed the lease, you can't break it either EVEN if there is a pandemic! All they seem to care about is money and not the student resident at all. And by the way, they will sell you on "Student Housing" but when you are in a pandemic, they tell you they have nothing to do with Binghamton University and there will be no prorated rent or discounts. Double corrupt standards, in our opinion. Colleges should not allow companies like American Campus as housing options as they truly don't seem to have their student's in mind when they lease to them and only care about one thing, money. Update to U Club Response: While the college students have vacated your apartments to be home quarantined during a pandemic, deferring rental payments or keeping collection agencies from coming after them for their delinquent accounts is not an acceptable restitution no matter how you word your response. read more

UClub binghamton is a great place to live! They are handling COVID situations very safely and have great customer service!!

I have lived here for a little less than a year and love it. The staff is always thorough in answering your questions on the phone and willing to help you with anything you need from package questions to work orders in your room. The maintenance team is very friendly and will complete your work order on either the day you submit it or the following day. Even during COVID, the staff has found ways for the community to together through virtual events and following CDC guidelines to maintain social distancing in public areas like the gym. Overall, I feel safe in my apartment and still enjoy the amenities while receiving great customer service! read more

The office staff walked us through the application process and gave us a virtual tour on FaceTime of the beautiful model room and property. "Convenience" is the only positive thing about UClub. The apartments are made in such a cheap manner; the walls are thin (you can hear EVERYTHING! Your roommates, outside the hall, etc. No privacy at all), there are constantly issues where cabinet doors will randomly fall off, there's barely any food storage (especially if you have 3 other roommates). There are times you need to wait 30+ minutes for the shuttle to campus, so it's not much more convenient than living downtown. Some days the shuttle will randomly not be running, and they don't give you an explanation for this at all. It's much more expensive than having a whole house downtown. If you are randomly paired with a roommate, and you are having extreme issues, they are reluctant to do anything. My friend was physically threatened by the random roommate they were paired with, and UClub didn't want to switch the living situation because they didn't want to be bothered. Another one of my friends was paired with a whole 32 year old, and they don't even go to the University here. Another group of friends I know here had their carbon monoxide alarm going off for over 24 hours, and they had to sleep at my apartment because maintenance wouldn't come until the next day, even though the situation could've seriously injured or killed them. Overall, I haven't met anyone that lives here that doesn't have some form of horror story. Just don't live here. read more

Living at U Club has been wonderful since I have moved in a few months ago. The staff is friendly, very approachable, and quick to respond to any concerns a resident may have. The amenities are great, and really make a difference in my educational experience having an academic success center and an additional study lounge right by where I live. Came to U Club and the move in process was straight forward and easy. As a resident the Community Assistants are very knowledgeable and will help with most of my problems. This is my second year living at UClub and I couldn't be happier! The facilities are always clean and easily accessible, the staff is always friendly, and its overall just an amazing place to live! I really appreciate the way they are handling the COVID-19 pandemic. There are signs throughout the property with rules and regulations in place, and further measures taken to ensure everyone can use the amenities in a safe and healthy manner. I'm planning on transferring to Binghamton for the nursing program, and was looking for off campus housing that would still be connected to students, and Zoe was so helpful and friendly on the phone! The only good part about this place is the maintence crew. They are friendly and know how to fix the place. That beings said everything is offbrand ikea and falls apart 2-4 times a semester. The people at the front desk are college kids and don't know how to run an apartment complex and the managers thinks being dismissive or straight up extortionary is what building managers are suppose to do. The buildings are sub par and over priced but that's any college apartment complex. They also pull some sneaky moves like calling you saying you need to resign you current lease but providing a lease for the next year "losing" info that's already in the system to stack on insane fines (120 dollars to park where you live) or they tell you to park on campus. No shuttle schedule. Refusing to clean units after old tenants move out and new ones move in claiming that you had time to report it meanwhile the semester starts three weeks into the first leasing date not to mention they tell you you can't move in until two weeks after you pay (you can it's a lie to reduce costs.) very shade and honestly overall poor management, sub par housing, good grounds fellas. read more

The amenities and the apartments. Everything looks quite nice but is not actually as nice as it looks. The walls of the apartments are incredibly thin, you WILL hear everything that is happening within your apartment and the apartment above you. When we moved in our dishwasher was not working, yes it ran, but it did not clean anything and left it nastier than before it ran. It took us 3 months to get our dishwasher fixed, we asked them initially to fix it and they told us we were using the wrong type of soap. We used every single available type of soap and not a single one worked. We had to complain several times after that for them to send someone to actually fix it. They initially denied our request for maintenance, we had to go bother them to get them to actually send someone to fix it. The mail system is better than it looks, the employees at the front desk do not really care about you and will treat you like a hassle. The only people I like are the maintenance staff who are very friendly people who generally get the job done well, although they will sometimes walk into units unannounced. We had a worker ask us if he could come and watch TV in our unit while we were gone. Which is quite weird. The saving grace of this place is the bus system, with the private shuttle, the county buses, and the school buses you will not have a problem getting to class. Phase 1 housing is okay but lacks a lot of basics you would think you would receive if you are paying $800 a month per person. The kitchen is small and the cabinets are much shallower than the standard, the cabinets above the stove and counter top do not fit our standard sized plates. I have no issues with the club house as it is actually quite nice although you will run into issues with the printers, which is a fairly standard issue anywhere. The main issue is management and the quality of units. Management does not care about its residents. If your budget isn't your main concern this place is fine. I personally do not believe this place is worth what I am paying for it each month when I could easily move somewhere a little less convenient and pay hundreds less a month. read more

Do not live here. The management sucks. The apartments are pretty nice but when you move out they will charge you an arm and a leg if your apartment is not spotless. I lived here and payed $830 a month for 2 years. When I moved out I spent days cleaning the entire apartment so I would not get charged and then I still got charged for $200 worth of "damages" that weren't real. I tried to dispute the charges and they basically just told me "too bad" and made me pay for damages that were not there when I handed in my keys. I took pictures of my apartment after I cleaned it and they sent me a picture they took of my bathtub that was disgusting. The picture I had taken of my bathtub showed that it was sparkling it was so clean when I left. And yet, they still made me pay even though I provided proof that it was clean. The management treats its residents very poorly and nobody working there knows what they are doing (except the maintenance workers they are AWESOME). I had such an awful experience moving out and while they were constructing new buildings that It negated any good experiences I did have my first year there (when it was under different management). read more
