Wow, I had no sooner given these guys a nice 4 star review when I notice an additional charge on my CC. When I dropped off the trailer it was quite busy. One of the employees just instructed me to leave it on the side of the building and they would email my receipt. Well it turns out the trailer wasn't officially checked in untill past the due back time. This apparently causes Uhaul to automatically bill you for another days rental. So I returned to the store and an employee was able to refund that additional days charge. One thing I did was take a picture of the trailer unhooked and returned. If Uhaul had refused to make things right I would of had evidence of the time of return. I suggest you do the same. read more

This review is strictly for Bountiful Moving & Storage. U-Haul is great, but this location is awful. Choose a different rental location in the area, there are several. First, I have a 9 am reservation. Terry, the first employee to arrive, opens the doors at 9:10 am. There is already a line. He did the best he could, bless his heart, but it was nearly 10 am before I was helped. Second, if I had wanted pads or a dolly, I would have requested them. But there was still a dolly and pads secured in the rear of the truck. I did not want to have to work around a dolly I had no intentions of using, and Terry kindly allowed it to be removed before I took the truck. I would have appreciated it if it had not been put in the truck if I didn't request it. Third, they charged me for pads that I didn't request, had no need for and didn't use. I didn't even touch the bag they were located in. I called multiple times today seeking that charge be reversed and was continually told the manager was busy and would call me back. I didn't receive a call by closing so I ended up calling U-Haul directly and was promptly refunded. Poor service and customer beware of tacked on charges. read more

Needed a storage unit to place my belongings moving between apartments and rented a storage unit from this location for a month, and then rented a cargo van to move my stuff out once the new apartment was available. Reserving the unit online was pretty painless and staff was pretty helpful and friendly, although like many locations, it can get pretty busy at times. Biggest gripe during my last visit was on the same day I returned the van, I had requested to close out my lease for the storage unit to prevent being charged another month and was told it would be taken care of, only to find out days later they failed to close out the account. While I'm grateful that the staff was present when I visited again to reverse the charges, and I understand this location has had shakeups with some workforce quitting, I would have rather they had been vigilant in making sure this hadn't occurred in the first place. read more

This location made me drive a truck back and forth, then charged me to drive the rental truck all the way from Herriman to Woods Cross when I had scheduled it to be dropped off at a location closer to where I had moved. The staff needs more support and needs to learn how to actually handle customers. I wish I had done my business somewhere else. read more

I scheduled an appointment online to have a hitch installed. Uhaul cancelled and rescheduled my appointment twice. The second time, I asked for a refund. They were able to find the parts all of the sudden. They didn't install it right. There is a cord hanging from below my car. Good luck getting them in the phone or getting help. Anytime I'm there, I'm standing in lines for 45 minutes plus at least. read more

Was never told that there was a $20 late drop off fee. I explained when I rented that I was going to drop it off that night late, and wasn't explained I needed to download the app to check it in. I even turned it in 2 days earlier than was allotted. Then they tried to say they charge the $20 to protect me since someone could have stolen the trailer, ha. read more

My daughter recently bought some inventory in Bountiful from a place that was going out of business. In order to transport the inventory she had to rent a UHaul, which transported the inventory to Lehi, UT. The truck was driven by someone who had the time to do so. While unloading the truck an ulcer on my toe exploded and I wasn't able to drive the truck any more. My daughter asked me to call the UHaul place and ask them about returning the truck locally since there was no one to drive it. When I called UHaul after telling me the call was being recorded a flat-toned receptionist answered the phone. When I explained the situation to her the tone of her voice became very rude. She gruffly explained that the truck was overdue and that if it wasn't returned by 4:45 that day they would call the police. After calling another UHaul company to find out where to complain I was told this wasn't UHaul's policy. The place in Bountiful was unmoving and refused to change the contract. Now I have to drive their UHaul with an ulcerated toe 40 miles when I'm not supposed to be driving and no one else is available. Based on my experience with these people I would recommend renting a UHaul from anywhere but here. Their customer service was inexcusable. read more

My experience here was a good one. I picked up my truck in the morning and dropped it off after hours. The lady that helped get me going was very straightforward and outlined the contract really well. Trust me, if you bring back the truck a mess, or the tank empty, or drive a ton of miles... you will be charged for it. So don't be surprised. Look at the contract. This location offers 24/7 drop off which is really nice and convenient. The mileage I was charged was accurate and they didn't try to tackle on any gas charges or other fees. The store and lot was large and clean. They had a lot of boxes and other moving essentials for sale. I love their boxes here, but they are really pricey. I sure hope I don't have to participate in a move anytime soon, but if I did, I would come back to this location. *side note* The Chevron southeast of here has a really spacious gas area to fill up your giant trailer/truck. read more

They canceled my scheduled appointment several times but neglected to call or txt me, so that I'd show up only to be turned away. I had a Pilot that I wanted a wiring harness installed on, and a Jeep that I wanted a hitch as well as harness put on. After this work was finally done, I took the vehicles home and hooked them up to an old pop-up I'd just bought. No lights on trailer from either vehicle. I figure it's the pop-up so call a mobile RV repair. When they come out I discover multiple ills w/U-Hauls work. For one thing, I'm told it's sloppy. Also lazy, a harness wire that came w/the kits and is intended to be run all the way to the car battery, was merely spliced in at the hitches. The sloppy cut out on the Pilot's bumper nicked a wire. A bolt was missing from one side of the pig-tail joinery on the Pilot, so that plugging in the harness was difficult, resulting in poor contact, resulting in no lights. Also the wiring hook-up to charge the trailer battery from the car battery when running, wasn't made. On the Jeep, there was the same lazy wire splicing, plus the hitch wasn't tightened all the way to the body, such that bolt threads are showing. The trailer lights weren't working because they never explained that the separate joinery part I had to go back and buy--after I took the Jeep home, saw that what was installed wasn't going to mate and returned--needed to be both plugged in, and *then* have a separate wire, wired in to a ground. That was nice to find out after the fact. Awful experience and woall the way around! Edit: just tried to use the cigarette lighter in the rear compartment and it had no power... found that they wired the pigtail in by severing the wires to the cigarette lighter and then leaving the cigarette lighter w/cut wires and not connected in again. read more

I rented a cargo van a few days ago, and the van itself was great. I would have been leaving a better review, but unfortunately had a very poor experience when checking back in. As I left in the morning, I noticed that the mileage rolled over immediately as I was leaving the parking lot. I took a photo of it as I was pulling out, and upon returning, told the attendant what had happened. I know it's not a lot of money, but the principle is important to me. The attendant looked at my photo and agreed what it showed. She asked the manager on duty, who told her he would credit me for the mileage discrepancy. I asked if I needed to stick around for the check in process, and was told that it was not necessary. When my final bill was emailed to me, I was not credited the mileage as promised. As stated before, I know it's not a lot of money, and it won't bankrupt me by any means, but it will cause me to look elsewhere when I need to rent a truck or trailer in the future. read more

The owner Jeff is a douche bag. No customer service training obviously. I returned a tv box unused without a receipt. I've spent over $350 in the last month moving (and got a box of flat bubble pack that they just told me- sorry ;) and come in over 15 times. Moving is stressful enough and why be rude about the customer service. I don't get it. Next time I'll obviously go somewhere else. What a poor representation of uhaul. read more

This U-haul was easy to book online when attempting to get my trailer hitch installed. Riley from this location called less than 20 hours before the scheduled time to move the appointment because there was an issue at the facility. He would not book me to another location and couldn't determine if any other Uhauls had the part. He did not know if FedEx would be delivering the part to this location today and was generally completely useless in helping me get the problem resolved. read more

This is a great U-Haul facility. The grounds and units are clean and they've always had trailers I needed available when I needed to rent one. Their cheapest units run about $45 a month if you don't mind one upstairs in a non-climate controlled building. Prices go up from there. Small, climate controlled units on the ground floor are about $65 a month. The staff has been very friendly and they help make access and the process of renting easy. My only complaint is the access hours. They close at 7pm most days and 8pm on Friday. You have to pay extra for after hours access to your stuff. read more

They told me the call center was different than the actual company when I had called for specifics and then scheduled. They didnt tell me I had it all day on a daily rental. I hired help to get it in on time when it never mattered. Many extra fees not listed on internet. Insurance for me vs insurance for them etc. To use the dolly in the truck was yet another fee! In November I reserved online and paid in advance for a 26' truck rental for a move in December; 3-4 weeks in advance. I got an email confirmation when I ordered the truck that it would be delivered to the Bountiful UT location as I had requested. This is well within walking distance of my apartment (yes, I planned on walking there). Two days before the rental I got an email from U-Haul saying that I have to go into Salt Lake City to pick up the truck, which is completely the wrong direction since my storage unit is in Farmington and a HUGE inconvenience. I immediately called U-Haul scheduling to tell them about the problem and they refused to help me in any way, shape, or form. I will never rent U-Haul again. *Update* U-Haul called me about 45 minutes after I posted this review to apologize to me. Not to fix the problem, just apologize. I canceled the rental and I am doing business with one of their competitors instead. read more

Poor customer service experience. I called ahead, before driving 10 miles to the location, to make sure I can return unused boxes without a receipt. I was told it would be fine. I drove to this location, carried boxes in, waited in line to be told that I cannot return without a receipt. Only store credit. Very frustrating! The employees didn't seem to even care. Very frustrating when you're told one thing and then show up and told another. The whole reason I did the phone call was to avoid this situation. read more

We called ahead to see if they refill propane and how much it was. The woman said it was $3.19 a gallon. We headed over there (not close to our house btw) and when I got there they told my husband they didn't have any. That would have been nice to know so we didn't waste our time and gas. Rented a 15' truck and car carrier from "Riley" two weeks in advance. Called 3 days before to confirm and was told all was well. Less than 24 hrs. before pick up received a text that I would have to drive an hour to another location to get my truck. Called U-haul and was told everything was corrected. Then received a voice mail from a lady named "Michelle" asking me to call, I called no pick up and no return call. Drove to Bountiful U-haul day before to find out why the wrong location and was told by Riley and "Manager-Andrew Limon" "These things happen all the time and there was no way they could correct it. I asked the manager to call the General Manager "Jeff Ward" and was told nope nothing they would do. Even though there was staff who could have, and even volunteered, to go pick up the truck and bring it to the Bountiful location, again nope. Manager gave me GM's cell and I called, no pick up (surprise) and no return call. I had to take my own time and gas, go pick up the truck at a different location and drive it to Bountiful so I could load it the next morning. WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE EVER! Will tell everyone I know to stay away from this location. read more

I'd give them zero stars if possible. Cancelled my appointment last minute without my consent. Terrible customer service. The representative yelled at me over the phone when I asked her to look at different appointment availability at other locations. We spoke over the phone multiple times. She then asked for my card information to refund me. I had made an appointment online and she didn't have all of the information straight to process the refund. At this point, she was still pretty escalated and yelling at me over the phone. It made me uncomfortable and I asked to work with someone else. After speaking with multiple other, much more respectful locations, it sounds like I'll be going elsewhere. read more

I've used their U-Hauls a few times and they installed my hitch. The price quoted is the price paid. Their folks are super friendly and they'll go out of their way to make sure the customer is happy. They'll put your trailer on for you and make sure everything's operational before you leave. They gave me an additional two days free of charge for a long distance haul so I wouldn't be pressured to rush. Absolutely recommended! read more

One star is too generous. I dropped off my truck for a tow hitch. They call and say it is finished. I pick it up and discover the tow lights don't work. The office manager claims it's a Nissan problem and they did the best they could and I owe them the full price of the installation, and I'll have to pay Nissan to finish the job. I'm shocked and say why didn't you call and give me options? The office manager gets ultra defensive and says if I don't pay she will call the cops! Wow, I'm in total shock, one question escalated to calling cops?!! This went on for 30 min, no logic or reason would prevent her from calling the cops. Nuts, this place is totally crazy. I've never been called to pick up my car from a mechanic and told I owe the full price for a job they "tried to do".... read more

Actually I don't have a problem with this exact place its the regional manger that is there that i have a problem with. Good old Jeff Ward. What a piece of work he must be. I was promised a hitch would be installed on my van on a specific date however after calling the day prior to the install I was informed they changed my appt time to earlier in the day and THEY ALSO DIDN'T EVEN HAVE MY HITCH, they had no way of knowing when it would be in. The reason that this is a big deal is that I needed the hitch to be installed by a certain date so that I could pick up a trailer that had to be retrieved on that date. After customer service said they would get me a truck with a hitch for a few hours, Jeff Ward said he would not do that. Way to go Jeff, step over a dollar to save a dime. Uhaul should send you packing. I will NEVER use uhaul again for anything. Outstanding customer service Jeffery!!! read more
