U-Haul, I am not impressed. I went with my father on May 31st to pick up a trailer from this location. Around 1pm. My dad checked in and we went to get our trailer. We hitched up with a man in a brown shirt and went our merry way to pick up some furniture. Around 4pm the SAME DAY, we returned the trailer. The same man in the brown shirt asked my father for his reservation number, my dad gave it to him, unhooked the trailer and we left. Now tell me why TODAY (June 2nd) my mom and dad (both in their 60s) get not one but two calls from U-Haul Langley, asking where this trailer is. My father who has a hard time remembering things when flustered insisted that they dropped it off. The man on the phone talking to him then PROCEEDS TO THREATEN TO CALL THE POLICE ON HIM. My mom, then calls me because I was there with my father when we picked up and dropped off and I call U-Haul headquarters for Vancouver and talk to a representative. Within 8-10 minutes of being on hold, I get a stuttered "Oh they walked around the lot and found it hiding in a corner somewhere, we will make sure to sign your U-Haul back in." Okay, so they didn't think to search for it BEFORE threatening someone who says they returned the trailer with calling the police? Bad form, U-Haul Langley. So... WORST experience I've ever had moving. I'll start at the beginning: We sold our house and the day we finalized the sale, we booked the truck and a crew of 2 to help load. We moved out of province, so we paid through the nose for their return fees (NOT $40/day, but totaling $1600 for 4 day rental including mileage to Alberta, plus the workers in Langley). We had a month to pack and get ready. Truck booked for to load, including helpers, 24 hours before contracted hand-over. (Booked to pick up at the Langley office (56 Ave) 11am the day before hand-over, to give time to load and clean.) Count down is on! A couple of days before loading date, we started asking where we would pick up the truck. Uhaul has a LONG history of booking vehicles in a different city / location (IMO to up their mileage and use time for daily rentals - complete scam, as seen on a few different TV shows (W5 for one)). We called and called, got bounced from Langley to Calgary, to Vancouver, to Louisiana to all these over and over trying to find out about our truck. "No truck available" and no idea as to when or where it would be available. We're now down to the 24 hour mark before the contracted loaders were to arrive. Still no truck, no wait. We were told, via email, we could pick up a truck at Marine Drive in Vancouver at 4pm (a 2+ hour drive at rush hour). But even with the email in hand, no one could confirm availability or a proper reason why 5 hours "late" and 50 long KM away on Marine Drive in Vancouver. Remember their contract workers to help load arrive at 11am. So, we've paid for them to stand around for 4 hours and get nothing done (you pay for these contractors in advance). I went to the Langley office (56th Ave) and lost my sh*t on the staff. A few more calls (same grouping: Langley, Calgary, Louisiana and back again) ...Still nothing. 5pm, 18 hours before the contracted help were to arrive we FINALLY get an answer. We have a truck at a different Langley office. I'm assuming the 56th Ave office didn't want to see my (furious) face again. We made it to Alberta. NO Thanks to UHaul for the Nightmare They Provided. A move is stressful to begin with. Selling / Buying / Moving. It is almost 2 months of stress. But when a company goes out of its way to make a bad situation worse. I have a lot of words for UHaul and its processes and procedures, 99.99% of which are pretty harsh and NOT for the faint of heart! One of the worst experiences of my life, not just moving related... Absolutely horrid service!! Vehicle was booked for 9:00 but didn't arrive till 10:00. Tried to return but no staff in the building. Have to return using the U-Haul app which didn't work. No one to talk to!! Horrible horrible company!! read more

I've read the other reviews for this location and I have to say, that wasn't my experience for sure. I called U-Haul a week prior and booked an auto transport trailer. I can't say anything about moving vans, perhaps the accessibility and let-downs happen more with those, but the lady booked me a trailer for 2 days and sent me the emails and was really friendly on the phone. My boyfriend and I went in for our 10 am pickup on the Saturday and although they were having computer issues, the gentleman who helped us did it in a decent amount of time and with no issues. The front staff were gruff but I dont mind that, I dont like small talk and when I do business as long as the transactions get done, the price is appropriate, and my needs are met then that's good customer service to me. We accidentally had wired our trailer lights wrong and ended up having to go home to re-wire, come back, go home, and finally return again. The front counter guy came out each time to do light checks and never complained, never rushed us. He even explained other options to us like what to do if we pick up or drop off after hours. We did end up dropping off after hours and it was sooo easy (plus U-Haul provides wifi for the drop off website which is A+.) We've already decided when we need to move his racecar for the next event we'll be booking with this U-Haul again. read more

The smoothest (and quickest) part to ordering a trailer hitch installation for my vehicle was when the website took my payment. After that, the "customer service" experience over SEVEN WEEKS was the worst that I can ever remember having at any business. I thought at first that they must just be very busy, as I was constantly sent to voicemail, and my emails were sporadically returned (always to assure me that they were on top of things). Then I realized that they had call display (the one time that they answered the phone) - because they called me by my name! Do I have a trailer hitch on my vehicle - nope! Were they pleasant about providing a refund - yes, after I asked them for it, not because they offered it. read more

I stupidly used Uhaul to install a hitch and wiring. Booked a Saturday to avoid missing work. 2 to 3 hrs turns to 8.5 hrs. Find out now I had no rear blinkers. Now there not available on the weekend so I miss 3 hours of work. After I find out at home the blinkers work but trailers brake lights don't work also the side mirror blind spot warning lights don't work now. I make another appointment as soon as they open and show up to no tech on duty until 1pm so I demand my money back, the manager isn't there and ignores my calls. I was later asked by the tech to bring it in so I miss another 2 hours of work at the end of that day. Tech says side impact warning light sensors must be dirty not his issue and he shows me lights working. (note: hatch is up) says he will be 1/2hr getting it put back together. Comes to me 20 minutes later and says lights don't work with hatch down. They offer to fix it or give my money back. I take money back but its only the labor they put in. I take it to a pro and miss another 3 hrs work. Costs 1.5 times the money I got back from Uhaul but it works perfect they said the wrong wiring harness was used, wiring was messy, and they had to pick up the lights up on the hatch not the lights/blinkers on the body. Thanks E&H Hitch Shop; true pros. Also I check the fuse on on the blind spot warning lights myself and the it's blown so I replace it and they work again. Never, never again Uhaul but to be honest I should have made a better choice to begin with...I take blame for the whole mess. read more

The staff at this location were friendly, helpful, and went above and beyond to help me purchase and install a class1 hitch for my car, even though my particular model wasn't listed. They also helped me choose a good quality, reasonably priced bicycle rack for my car. The service was quick and efficient, I highly recommend this particular location! Larry B. read more

Wish I could give zero stars ! This company is terrible. Twice I've had issues and hence why I will no longer be using them when I move. The first time my truck I had reserved two weeks prior to moving from northern bc to the lower mainland was not at the U-Haul pick up when i went to get it to move! They ended up giving us the last truck they could find with the abs brake light on! Second time I also reserved much in advance and when I went to pick it up the man says "they not return" so once again a truck is not where it should have been and no phone call to let me know. Ended up having to go to another U-Haul lot to get a truck. Moving time is stressful enough as is and this place just makes it worse !!!! Will deal with the local companies from here on out. read more

When I called to book this truck I requested 3 measurements: floor height, interior height, and the height of the wheel wells sticking up out of the floor. When I picked the truck up, not only were all three measurements substantially incorrect, but the truck jerked badly and made a loud "clunk" every time the automatic transmission changed gears. I picked the truck up at closing time and returned the next morning without using it as I felt it was a safety issue. They admitted it was overdue for repairs and that they had replacement trucks on order, but refused to give any discount. I will NEVER USE UHAUL AGAIN!! read more

Wish I could give a zero or negative star rating. Stop installing hitches here folks! I had an appointment on Sept 10, 2021, showed up, they could not do it (Sept 10) because the part was damaged. Fine. They could have called, claimed they had the wrong number...nope. Then they were good enough to get a replacement that day and booked me in for Saturday at 08:30am. The person on Friday was going to give me a $50 refund. Saturday I show up at the scheduled time of 8:30am.. Then, at 9:50am, the tech tells me he could not install this hitch on a Kona, did not know how. I told him the same as all others, with 4 bolts. He offered to send me to Vancouver (only about 40kms away). j I told him I wanted immediate install since you already ruined my weekend plans and I could drive it there, give me $50 for delivering it. Told him phone the store, he said he could not, I would have to? Umh customer service?? I then said give me the refund on labour (I had prepaid), which he did. I took it home, given I am recovering from a shoulder break 2 months ago I installed myself in about 1 hour laying on our condo basement floor. NO hoist, no hitch lift, just me, my tools and brains. Amazing what happens when you look at Youtube or the manufacture site how to install these things. Vehicle was 2020 non electric Kona. I am waiting for another $50 promised refund for my trouble. It should be about $100. WELL, time to salvage my weekend. STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOCATION FOR HITCH INSTALL!!!!! read more

Our experience with the U-Haul outlet in Langley BC on 56th Ave was a nightmare! We had a U-Box reserved at this location to move our belongings into on our moving day. As moves often go, we were running a bit late, so we called out of politeness to say we'd be arriving about a half hour later than our original ETA. We were told "That's fine. No problem at all". However, when we arrived we were informed that they had given our unit away to another customer and they had no other units of any kind available for us. In a panic, we scrambled to locate another storage facility (with no help at all from the staff at the 56th location in Langley, I might add). Finally, we found one that had an available unit, which was about an hour's drive away from where we were. When we finally arrived, however, we were informed that they were just closing! I'm sure you can surmise the snowballing number of moving problems this caused for us, with deadlines not met and the expenses which resulted. The unreliable, lackadaisical, uncaring and dismissive service at this location compels me to caution others to be "buyer beware". read more

I have dealt with this U-Haul location several times over six years. The former Manager was absolutely wonderful to deal with. She was polite, helpful and answered all questions. This year, I needed a storage unit and it had to be secure, as the main contents contained my daughter's belongings. She had passed away and as I spoke with the man in charge, I was not impressed with his lack of compasion or any type of professionalism. When I went to lock up the unit, I noticed a gaping space between the door and it actually closing properly. Again, my concerns were voiced to the Manager. He said it would be taken care of. The next day I arrived to find he had banged at the lock itself in order to shut it more. This was his soultion to a serious problem. After a bad rainstorm, I arrived to find water leakage all over the middle part of my unit. I was upset and voiced my concerns, yet again to the Manager. This is where I lost all respect for the man. He came to the unit and casually told me how another storage renter had actually drilled a small hole in the roof, in order to claim for damages! I was outraged that he even hinted at such a despicable thing; especially when my late daughter's belongings were in the unit! In the end, I was reimbursed through the Insurance company I had to deal with, for damages to my computer as it was found out that there was a hole in the roof above my stuff! After six years of dealing with U-Haul, this company has lost my business forever! I will never recommend them and have shared with others, the mistreatment I experienced. I booked a 17foot truck for Aug.8 to pick up some furniture and boxes from my mother's house. On Aug.7 I received a confirmation for a 20foot truck because there were no 17 footers available. Fair enough. When we picked up the truck (after driving approx. 350km to get there), we were given a 26foot truck even though we told them that a 10 or 15 footer would be more appropriate and their only reply was that we weren't being charged for the upgrade (like they were doing us a favour). The truck we were given was not mechanically sound - it made a high pitched whining noise and had very little power on any uphill climb (fully loaded semis with flashers on were passing us), the entire dash including the steering wheel shook constantly, and the brakes screamed at the slightest touch. When we finally got home, we were unable to get the ridiculously large truck around the switchback in our driveway and had to carry everything the last couple of hundred feet to the house... A trip that takes a Greyhound bus 3 hours took us 6.5 hours. It made no sense, considering the truck was only filled to 1//4 capacity. When I complained to customer service, I received a voicemail message from "Bob from Greyhound" (no last name or contact number given), telling me that I had consented to the 26foot truck the day before with my confirmation (totally untrue) and if I was unhappy with the upgrade it was my own fault for accepting the confirmation. No mention of the mechanical issues or the fact that we had to spend hundreds of dollars on gas (about twice what we spent when we moved and had about 4 times the amount of furniture on board). I'm not sure what was worse - the truck that had no business being on the road or the rude and dismissive "customer service". Well done Uhaul, you have successfully chased away a loyal customer. read more
