So, we made a daytrip of coming up north. It was pretty cold and overcast in early October, but we still had a good time. When we arrived on a weekday there were only a dozen or so other people around. We practically had the place to ourselves. We first watched the four otters swim in the pools (brr) and play on the tubes. One really seemed to like me, and we both shared the name Louis, so we hit it off from the start. I liked him more than the otters (!), but I think he just came to the fence to see me because he thought I was going to feed him. Then, we saw the staff with their "mystery" public interaction animal... a porcupine. She seemed hungry and grumpy, and spent the time eating food. I guess if I was trotted outside in the 40-degree weather I would be upset too. We went for a walk in the woods and heard music piped on speakers in the trees. My wife made a comment about it feeling like an anime or RPG experience, and I think she was right. It was odd, though enjoyable. We then walked around on the elevated paths in the woods and looked out of the bird's nest towers and spider's nest (yuck). There were swinging bridges and other interactive things for kids of all ages. Again, it was cold or we might have spent more time looking at them. They had indoor exhibits which were closed due to the pandemic (boo), but on a day like this they are very much needed to help recharge and get warm. It was a good time, despite being chilly. The views were great, but my glasses kept fogging up from the masks so I couldn't see as much as I would have liked. It is a great park seemingly in the middle of nowhere, and very far from where we live. But, I would like to return in warmer weather to experience it again.

One horse, several times, backed into the bushes to scratch his butt taking the rider completely in the trees. Also it's back legs buckled & it dropped down to its knees with rider on & then popped back up! Another horse went so close to trees to scratch itself, that the rider's foot was close to getting stuck on tree as horse moved forward, over & over. Really a nerve racking experience. Did not enjoy it at all. Plus no bathroom!

I brought my two nieces (7 and 8 years old who had never ridden), but I hadn't told them where we were going and wanted them to have some time to get excited. We were greeted by all staff with smiles and the girls were given brushes to groom the two miniature ponies while we waited. Before our ride, the girls were given a short but thorough safety lesson and then we were off on the trail. Valerie had a lead on the first horse (Goldie) my older niece was riding, while my other niece followed on White Cloud and I was on Serena. Since the girls were a little nervous, we walked around many of the same trails which was perfect for their first ride. We had a wonderful time and were invited back the next day too! I went back with my sister and her three children (11 months, 3, and 4) and my 5 year old nephew. The kids were able to walk the miniatures (Casper and Blue Knight) around and we fed them carrots. We had a great time and will definitely return in the future!

So- I was here with some guys from my gold club looking for a course in the area to have a large…read moretournament at. With players coming in from all over- approximately 150 golfers playing multiple tournaments over 3-4 days. A pretty good source of income for any public course. THATS NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN. 1st off that you for being open during the current times. Secondly, the older man in the pro shop charging for greens fees was very nice as was the guy tending to the golf carts at the end of the day. Unfortunately that is all the niceties I have to offer. The fairways were mostly brown. The tee boxes were unkept. The ruffs were unplayable and the greens for the most part by and large were trash. Not to mention- the absolutely awful POS who I almost told where to go and exactly how to get there and gave my 2 cents to.. but instead I just let it go as it was the last of the holes and it was decided they HE was the reason we'd never have a tournament there. I sliced a brand new ball in the water and went to get it out. The 1st two balls I got out we're mine, so I dropped them in the ruff beside the water. That's when I looked up to a screaming belligerent nasty POS screaming at me for trying to find my ball- that I had just pulled out. Yelling at me that even though there are no signs indicating this wasn't allowed- he was telling me so in the most a-hole way possible. Telling me he owns the golf course and that he owns those lost balls, including my ball. Stating he uses them for his driving rage, which is also pretty low brow as far as below par driving ranges go. So- 150 golfers at $60 per round and 9 rounds for each golfer at 3 per day for 3 days equals $81,000 not to mention all the money spent on BEER and drinks and food etc. PLUS all money spent in the pro shop on random things YOU WILL NEVER SEE! hahahah what a looser. And if that nasty guy does actually own the course, that I seriously doubt- he can read this and take a good look in the mirror and thing about what he could have done with $100,000 or so... my advice- never play here.

The seats were not heated and when I asked they said the battery is probably dead. I also asked about the fire pit and they said it wasn't on. Overlooking Lake Placid is one of the tallest peaks in New York State, and one of its most prominent ski destinations - Whiteface Mountain. One of the main hubs of activity, no matter the season. It is located in the NY town of Wilmington, about 13 miles outside of Lake Placid. Standing proudly at 4,867 feet, this natural wonder is the 5th tallest mountain in the whole New York state. With a bevy of trails, this mountain is a prime spot for riding, skiing, and hiking. Even better, the views from this mountain are to die for. There are multiple ways to view and reach the top of Whiteface Mountain, including the Veteran's Memorial Highway, Gondola rides, and hiking. The mountain has 90 trails, with more than 22 miles of skiing and riding. The longest run is the Wilmington Trail, which is just over two miles. Fact: It was home to the six alpine ski events in the 1980 Winter Olympics. The summit of Whiteface offers 360-degree views that span as far as Canada and Vermont on clear days. if you are taking Veteran's Memorial Highway - It's $20 /PP fee. This scenic drive winds its way up the mountain giving way to some spectacular photo ops along the way - including a castle. From the castle, it's a 20-minute hike to the peak of Whiteface Mountain, We took the highway, it's a very easy drive plus we wanted to visit the Summit Weather Observatory, and there is a lift to reach to summit, where you have seen the lift to reach the summit? I have never seen a lift installed in the mountain like this. Lift is for 5 persons only at a time, and takes almost 30-40 secs to reach the top. it is equal to a 24-floor building. Also, the gondola is more fun in winter, in summer it will take you to just an overlook spot, I would suggest coming via highway. In fact, from the summit, you can see this gondola point, it's higher than the gondola point. (just make sure while coming down, use low gears- typical suggestion- but it's important) Parking: ample parking spot, one staff will stop you, provides useful info and tell you how/where to park. One food truck was there serving typical fries, sandwiches, and burgers. Restroom & Git shop - is there too...!!
