The women who work here are great but plan on spending half a day here. I came first on a Friday…read morearound noon and got number 16 and they were only on number 67!! I didn't stay but came back at 9 on a Tuesday and got number 45 and they were on number 24. It still goes very slow!! I usually renew online but couldn't this time. I heard you can go online and make an appointment but it's about a month out for appointments so you would have to do that ahead of time - plan well!!!

It's definitely a hike to get out to this office, but it's worth it in the end…read more I was renewing my license and went to the Crooks SOS location and was pissed off by both the wait time and the rude service, so I said screw it and drove out to Romeo, having been there 10 years ago. I walked in, and grabbed a number. Grabbing a number at an SOS office is always a terrible thing. You sit there with this slip in your hand, waiting to be called as if I'm buying deli meat. However, I only ended up waiting about 5 minutes. The woman who helped me was very nice and we ended up joking around by the time it was over. If I had to rate my new photo, I'd give it a 1 star. My face looks terrible in two-dimensions. Still, not their fault, more my parents' fault. One big thing: THEY DO NOT ACCEPT VISA! I should call Morgan Freeman to fix that. They have an ATM that charges $2 if you don't have MasterCard or AmericanExpress. All in all, I'm perfectly happy to drive an extra 45 minutes through the pleasantness of Romeo to get my Sec of State on than have to deal with the stereotypical SOS offices near me.

I love this location. I will go out of my way just to come over here to get my DMV transactions…read morecompleted One of the most helpful, courteous, great service Secretary of State office I have ever visited. The customer service is superb. They treat people like people. They are fast and expedient when getting your drivers license in any type of DMV actions needed. Keep up the great work. Thank you for helping me get my disabled placard because I am a disabled vet. Thank you for all that you do t in taking care of veterans.

Let's be honest: nobody likes going to the Secretary of State. (If you're a follower in a part of…read morethe country where there's no SoS it's the equivalent of the DMV.) On a good day it still probably only racks up 2 stars from me. That's apart from the late, great SoS at Washington and Congress that somehow no-one knew about and I could always get in and out of. That place was a 4 star review at least, but I never would have reviewed it cause I didn't want the secret to get out. As it was it probably closed up to lack of business. I only went in to renew my tabs yesterday, and was going to give one of those computerized kiosks where you can just do it yourself a whirl for the first time, but when I walked in I found a large cardboard stand up cruelly bearing the image of one of the kiosks, saying it had been relocated to a nearby Kroger. Well, I was already there, and the weather was lousy, the roads weren't great and it was only 9:15, a mere 15 minutes after opening. How bad could it be? I walked up to a touchscreen, put in my phone number and got a text saying there was 48 people in front of me. I inwardly groaned, but I've waited in queues longer than that at these places; at least I could sit down and mess around on my phone. I figured it might be an hour. It ended up being two hours before they got to me. You can now make appointments and for awhile it seemed like only appointments were being called up while us walk-ins languished. At one point a guy in the row ahead of me started loudly protesting this. At another I got a text saying there were 10 people ahead of me. This would have been good news had I not received an identical text 15 minutes prior with the exact same message! A quarter hour later and I get that non-update. No progress whatsoever. That appointment stuff was really a drag. It's like if you went to Cedar Point and the ratio of Fast Lane people to regular ol peasants was way skewed and only Fast Lane people seemed to be getting on the roller coasters. A couple times the lady next to me said she should gave gone to "that other Secretary of State". I didn't bother asking which one, but maybe I should have. I feel like the one by my parents condo at Metro Parkway and Gratiot gets comparable crowds and eats through them a lot quicker. When I finally got up to the counter I do have to say service was fast and friendly. So don't think this one star stink bomb is aimed at the long suffering clerks who have to deal with an endless succession of cranky people. It's this understaffed, annoying bureaucratic government institution I resent. I guess next time I know to make an appointment or go to Kroger.
