It is bright and airy and has convenient rest rooms! But I just can't. The quiet study room is a glassed in room with cubicles around the edge, it is pretty quiet. A great number of homeless people come to this library to charge their phones, warm up, hang out, Etc. Yes, they have just as much a right as anyone else to use the library. However what I saw was them come in with their belongings in garbage bags and carrying sleeping bags. I was studying in the quiet room, over the course of the day homeless patrons came in and due to the small poorly ventilated enclosure I had to leave the study room. To be honest, they were fragrant. But also they are using the outlets to charge their phones, text, and sat around reading comics. It's a bit distracting. I sat at a table outside the study room and find that there are rules glued to all the outlets, that they are only for laptops and a bunch of things not to do. Just as there was in the study room. This library runs a tight ship, but it seems it is because they deal with some rift-raft. The homeless gentlemen in the study room were courteous enough, quiet enough. However the reason I will not be coming back to this library is that when I went to study outside the quiet room on the third floor I was the source of many stares from men. It was incredibly uncomfortable. I was dressed very conservatively but I was stared at almost endlessly by men and they did not feel like friendly stares. Maybe there's a nice kids area- I don't know. But as a single female in her 20s looking for somewhere to study, I don't think I will be back.

I was raised LDS, so coming to a place like Kirtland (which yes, I'll admit, probably seems…read moreentirely random to the average person) was actually a really interesting experience. Some of my ancestors lived in Kirtland, so seeing a piece of my personal history was really insightful and something I'll never forget. My dad, my brother, and I all went on a guided tour around the grounds which is where the Mormon Church moved to in the 1800s. A lot of these buildings are restored originals where you can see what it was like to be in the village during that time. Kirtland itself is actually a really beautiful small town and from what the tour guides told me, it is quite spectacular in the autumn when the leaves change color. The volunteers were very knowledgable and kind young women who told us a lot about the history of the grounds and had fun facts at nearly every turn. Really cute tour and fun if you are into local history!

Written by a medical student looking for a quiet study space:…read more It is a bit dark in here and pretty dated, on the first floor at least. The second floor is a nice and bright children's area. However that top floor is not really enclosed so sometimes you can hear children squealing even when you are on the first floor. There's a mid sized computer area, all with cubicles pointing in one direction, like a classroom kind of. There's a digital media section as well as a teenager section. There are No specific quiet study areas. There are not that many places to sit and study, there is a shortage of power outlets. I came in one day at opening time and for quite awhile the two employees at the circulation desk were discussing their evening at full volume so I could hear them from the other side of the floor. Also, the bathrooms are in a pretty inconvenient location, which matters for me to stay there all day. The good: it's still reasonably quiet usually. The clientele here is nice, I don't have creeps staring at me. The parking is pretty good. Overall, it's still one of my choice places to study when visiting my mom- but it is not premium for the purpose of quiet study.

The Lake County Sheriffs Department is a joke. They act like they are out here to protest and…read moreserve, but in reality they choose to pick and choose who they think should be helped. When I had an interaction with the Sheriffs Department. I was repeatedly misgender by Deputy Wolfe multiple times after I asked him to stop calling my sir he just kept doing it. Then they sent out a supervisor Lt Bowen to address the situation. When Lt Bowen arrived I told him do not call me sir or refer to me in that way. Then not 2 minutes into our conversation he started calling me sir as well. When I called to make a formal complaint Sgt Chaffee also addressed me as sir multiple times when I was informing him of my complaint and the issue. Then I received a call from Cpt Izzo who tried to tell me these officers aren't bad people and the typical BS used to protect bad cops. I also did speak to the Deputy Chief who informed me they are taking action to educate themselves on this, but the fact that these officers continued to misgender after I asked them to stop was completely unacceptable and shows the bigot actions of those officers.
