The bartender let us know that while the sign read food was served upstairs only, they were under construction so food would be served downstairs in the main pub area instead--but not until 5 (it was around 4:30 pm). We thanked him and decided to grab a drink and wait for food service. The menu of house ales, lagers, bitters, etc. + spirits was one I later saw at 1-2 other pubs who must share the same brewery. I tried a couple of beers and both were great. My wife had a cocktail which she enjoyed. The most noticeable thing at first was how quiet this pub is-- you could hear a pin drop. This likely changes later in the evening, but without music playing and the scattered patrons softly chatting at their tables, it was very quiet. Which really worked for us as we fought jet lag. We ordered food at the bar, my wife had fish and chips and I had the sausage and mash platter topped with onion rings. Both were delicious and fairly priced. This was all in all a great first pub to visit in London.

The…read moreinterior is just a happy place - light blue, light pink, clouds, etc. The music selection was spot on. With the door open they got surprisingly good airflow and kept the place cool. It was busy but not slammed - could still walk up to the bar and get a drink quickly. And that's what matters - the drinks. Their beer selection was superb. Of all the places on my most recent Beer Mile trek, I think this was one of only two spots that resulted in me getting multiple rounds of drinks. They have a bunch of their own beers (I think they brew at their other location and then pour here) as well as a couple guest beers. The taps change all the time but there is such a wide variety of beer you'll definitely find something. Even though it was summer, I most recently opted for a stout that was over 10%. It was delicious, boozy and intricate flavours with just a hint of sweetness. But they've got something for everyone, pale ales, belgians, saisons, stouts, etc. and they're not afraid to brew some strong drinks!

The mead its self (a brew of honey yeast water) is actually quite dry and refreshing- perfect for cider drinkers. Despite being another pop up looking bar, fear not, this place is not a hipster joint. It was started by a young guy who now has a team of three. Only open for drinks on Saturday afternoons, keep an eye on their social media for events and special releases. There is not usually food here so ear up before or grab a local jerk chicken take away and eat it at one of the outdoor tables.
