For example, feast your eyes on the new-ish Shrem museum, right on the edge of campus. New to Davis? This museum is directly across the street from UCD's visitor and conference center on one side, and the campus concert hall (wine-named Mondavi Center). High-tail it over to the museum and keep your wallet in your pocket -- it's free. It's 30 minutes or so you won't mind giving up. A fun mix of modern art that is always changing, so i won't date my review here. At the very least, it's a beautiful space with some thought-provoking installations every time I'm in town. I believe there's some kind of rule that all the artists have some connection to UC Davis. Davis hates cars, so the adjoining parking lot is about $10, during the week only. Weekends? Cars galore, no charge. Inspiring!

With renting the place out, there's also a large kitchen with fridge, stoves and other things that are available (just as long as things are kept clean and put back). Language classes are taught here by fluent speakers/teachers and membership with the I house will allow you to take any class you like (dance classes included too along with other event). There's storytelling for younger children each month and gathers for others weekly. Many other events happen weekly, just check on their website to see what's available and interests you :] Every year, the International House puts on the International Festival and there are many activities and performances. It's clear that everyone there is very passionate about their work and helping people out. Just come and check this place you, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. The campus is gorgeous that it sits on and the Center is absolutely beautiful inside. What I love most about the seating inside is that it's designed well with comfortable seats that aren't crammed together and you can actually enjoy the show. There are vents under each seat to keep you cool, which is also a plus on warmer seasons. The sound quality here is absolute perfection as well and I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't feel the same way as I do about this wonderful venue! What a true gift it is to have near us! Oh, the parking here is great as well and so are the attendants!!!

I've seen the UCD VGO perform before, but either at off-campus venues or on-campus at Wright Hall main theatre -- this was my first time watching them at Mondavi, they've grown a bunch! What's especially neat is that all of their members are current students or alumni of UC Davis, and all of their pieces are arranged by their own members. Each quarter is a different theme for the concert that explores various genres of video game soundtracks. Which would you prefer? 3. There is no food within quick walking distance. If you're making a 2 - 2.5 hour commitment to watch a show, definitely bring some food! During intermission I inhaled a bag of chips like a voracious raccoon. Despite these setbacks, the shows have been incredible. Overall, Wyatt Pavilion creates an intimate theater experience that can't be missed!

2/18/26- Just found…read moreout my oldest received his email of acceptance into the M.S. program!!! I am so happy for him! He's worked so hard and this was truly a joyous moment.. He applied for another program, so I'm hoping that arrives soon.. He does have other applications that he submitted so, we will see where he goes.. If UcDavis can provide what he needs, this will be the first choice.. (his goal: to go to the Okinawa Institute )..! The current employment director doesn't care for their students' schedules or their health. It's like they have tunnel vision. I told the employment director I that could not attend the career fairs for personal health reasons. All the employment director told me is "Let's see if we can find an alternative." Shame on you, employment director! The current employment director needs to be let go (or be fired) and be replaced with someone who actually cares for people's health and their schedules! When I asked them to not go to confirm with them, they said "the goal is to come for 10 mins. We can stand by the entrance and at the 10 min mark I'll check in." Shame you on you! Plus, we do the exact same things with the employment director every Wednesday. It is so boring and so repetitive. I hope the employment director gets fired (or to be let go) for choosing not to excuse me from the career fair over people's health.
