I had never used a service before in order to get a Visa, but on this occasion I needed to as the Embassy I had applied through said it could take a long time. I was very worried about using an Immigration Service as you hear all this talk of scams and bogus operations and worrying about that on top of getting my Visa did not help. To be specific, I was looking for a UK Family Visa, but I did not know which was right for me, as there were even different Visas in this category. However, the website had a number of ways to get in contact with them, I could use a web chat feature (which as a 24-year-old student I thought was pretty cool!!!), I could call them on the phone or I could even request a call back from them at a time that suited me (again as a student this was brilliant for me as it saved me money on my phone bill having to call them). I was told by countless numbers of people that my application for a UK Settlement Visa would drag on for ages. However, at this point, I did not know about UK Visa and Immigration. I had arranged an appointment to meet with a Caseworker at UK Visa and Immigration for 2pm in their London Office. However, I was running extremely late and I was very embarrassed because I knew I was going to miss my appointment time, so I knew I going to have to call them. I gave them a ring and I got straight through to the London office, not some sales centre where you're passed from person-to-person. I explained the situation to one of the Customer Services Team and they told me not to worry, they would accommodate me one way or another once I arrived. I thought this was absolutely brilliant. Rather than making me feel guilty and making the situation difficult for me, their team were really polite and professional. I arrived at the office over an hour late, I had to sit in their office for an extra 30 minutes, but I was seen by an Immigration expert who was extremely friendly and didn't even mention that I was late and they didn't charge me anything for a consultation or for being late for the consultation because to be honest I was expecting that. I had originally applied through a solicitor to get help with my uk visa application and I was just sent a load of forms and left to get on with it without any guidance at all. I became completely baffled by all the forms I had to complete that I just ended up giving up because I just couldn't make sense of it all. I always wanted to move the UK after university; my mum told me my grandparents were from the UK. I wasn't sure if I would be eligible to move there without a visa.
