This is a hardware store that has just a little bit of everything. When things are hard to find in a small town always check out the local hardware store. We went specifically to have a fishing reel restrung and ended up purchasing gloves, case of canning jars, Yeti cooler and snacks and a few touristy items. They do carry quite a few "Homer" items to take home as gifts. read more

This is the place to go if you need almost everything. We purchased Waders lures, winter clothing, rv items, drugstore items, and more, the staff are outstanding. I should point out some things are more expensive but it you need it the price is ok. read more

This drug and hardware is one stop shop for Homer. You'll find everything you need to do just about anything you want to. Ulmer's is a miniature Walmart with a warm, homey feel. Need pharmacy/toiletry items? Check. A new fishing pole? Check. A new tchotchsky for your bookshelf? Check. Everyone is friendly and eager to assist. They will even walk you right to the location of that candle you can never remember the smell of but reminds you of post camping on the spit. read more

Ulmers drug and hardware has everything you need and more! The staff is courteous and helpful. We needed a cabinet latch and some grommets for our rv and they helped us find exactly what we needed. They have a pharmacy, dry goods, clothes etc. if you are in Homer and need any such supplies you can't go wrong. read more

Love this store--a little bit of everything--but was surprised that they would not honor a discount coupon received via email from Ace corporate. Ulmer's prices are higher than just about anywhere else so it would be nice to get some kind of deal now & then. Disappointed. read more

I love Ulmers! Staff has always been professional and helpful. The store carries such a wide variety of items, which is perfect for Homer! I can find things at Ulmers that I can't find in Anchorage! After camping on the Spit, we decided that a camping heater would be pretty useful so we came upon this hardware store. They did have a couple heater options but it was more than what we wanted to spend and a staff member was extremely helpful walking us around the store to different things from blankets to fleece tights. She was also helpful with recommendations of places in the area. The four stars are really for her. She was exceptional. read more

I have to say, I love Ulmer's Drug and Hardware. This little store in Homer, Alaska, has it all! Husbands can shop for hardware while the wives shop for fabrics. That's right. They have a full fabric section. And, drug store too, so it really is a one stop place for many items. We love stopping at Homers! read more

This place has the rudest staff I have ever met. With prices as high as Ulmers you would imagine some eye contact and assistance. Not at this place. Staff go out of their way to be rude and unhelpful Safeway has a much better pharmacy with much nicer staff. read more

Holy Cow!!! -A $9.99 bottle of Roundup at Home Depot retails for $64.95 at Ulmers (exact same bottle). I don't mind paying a little more to have a local store, but 1500% markup so that Daddy Ulmer's kids never have to work a day in their lives is crazy. -every time I go the staff seem really mean and unhappy to be working -there are way better options for a pharmacy (Safeway) and I'll drive 2 hours to Home Depot anyday before setting foot back in Ulmers. *****THIS PLACE IS THE ULTIMATE RIPOFF***** read more

Love this place can't believe it is a True Value store. Found the perfect batik fabric for a special quilt. Their toy department and garden supply are fantastic as are the fishing and clothing depts. Open 7 days a week and a friendly staff. U can tell there's no Walmart in this town!! read more

This fabric store is over the top with great fabrics and great employees very willing to help you. We visited it from our cruise ship and I sure found lots of fabric to bring home. It was great as my husband could just wander the rest of the store while I shopped for fabric. Their selection is superb and prices are very comparable to the lower 48 prices I am used to paying. Their selection of Alaskan type batiks is the best I have ever found, even online. read more
