Operative care was excellent. However pre and post surgery I was offered physiotherapy which I declined. I did not receive physiotherapy. A skateboard was left in my room and I was told to use it, no supervision or advice. I was billed £139 for a view of the skateboard I didn't request or want. Having had a poor service from physio on a knee op six years earlier I had arranged for competent physiotherapy outside the UC. At no point did I sign for the service or was advised that I would receive a chargeable service. Needless to say I won't be paying and will forward the issue to my solicitor. To rub salt into the wound UC want to charge me for crutches which I had from my previous knee surgery. I begin to understand to meaning of the "Till on the hill" label. Now I have to start by saying that in theory I am not a supporter of private health care. The level and speed of care you get should not depend on how much money you have. That's the theory and in an ideal world that would be the case. I know that it can be argued that people who opt for private health care perpetuate its existence, but when my children are involved, I will move heaven and earth and empty my bank account to get them the care they need and as fast as possible. Now that my rant is over, I can actually tell you about the Ulster Clinic. I have used the clinic many times, both for out patient appointments and for overnight stays for minor surgeries for the kids. Obviously I have been there because I have to be there for medical reasons so I couldn't actually say I enjoyed myself, but the doctors, nurses and all the staff really go out of their way to make your time there as stress free and pleasant as possible. Also obvious is the fact that the surroundings are going to be way better than those in an NHS clinic. Everyone has a private ensuite room for example and you get to choose your meals from a menu and they are then delivered to your bedside. Kids get ice cream, colouring books and a choice of DVDs to take their minds off what the nurses and doctors are doing. One of the benefits of seeing a consultant at the clinic is that you can do so at night or at the weekend and you can pretty much choose a time and date that suits you. But of course you are paying for the privilege. read more

Having been used to the NHS, I couldn't believe how quickly things turned around here! I have had a heath issue for a number of months and decided to take advantage of the health insurance my work offered, and got booked in here. They actually offered me an appointment with a specialist that very day, however that wasn't suitable for me, so I got another 4 days later. I got greeted immediately upon arrival and had a few forms to fill in, then got seen immediately. Within minutes I'd had a diagnosis from the specialist, and had a few followup tests to be done, bloods and an x-ray, both of which were done without delay. I was in and out within 30 minutes with a treatment plan in place. Very impressed. read more

Difficult to know where to start with the disappointing service I have received from UIC. One doctor was just downright rude and unpleasant and actually tried to usher me out, insinuating I was lying about my symptoms when he couldn't explain them, and didn't even seem interested in listening in the first place. I was actually quite shocked. I've spent thousands by now on appointments, having one doctor waste my time and money sending me to another department (that doctor immediately told me to rebook an appointment with the original department I'm trying to get treatment from, due to him listening to my symptoms), that I explained I've had investigated by my GP, only to come back and have him admit he should have sent me for a second opinion months ago. Unfortunately, the service I have received has been utterly shameful for the price you pay. These guys are not interested in thinking and trying to get to the bottom of an issue, at least in my case. read more

In the leafy suburbs of Malone sits the Ulster Independent Clinic. I pulled up into the spacious car park.... and found a free car parking spot!! There was a long queue at reception-not good. It's a gr8 shame they don't offer complimentary tea/coffee. read more

I had my wisdom teeth out here a few years ago and i was very impressed. The consultant was very helpful and explained everything in gory detail. The nurses couldn't have been nicer, they were reassuring as i was nervous and even the food in the afternoon was lovely. My room overlooked a garden and had a tv, video and en suite bathroom. The whole room was sparkling clean and all i had to do was buzz if i needed anything. To be honest, it was just like staying in a hotel. I was on a soft diet so they gave me soup and tuna sandwiches. I wanted to stay overnight but they made me leave! lol read more

I have never been treated at the Ulster independent Clinic, I tend to stick to the lovely people at the NHS for all my health needs. But my aunt did go through a knee replacement operation at this clinic and she has nothing but praise for their work. When visiting her, you do notice the difference in quality compared to the NHS. All the rooms are private and regularly, more importantly, thoroughly cleaned twice a day. There is always a nurse on call that comes at the drop of a hat if a problem arises. All the rooms come with their own washroom facilities, mini fridge and television. If my company offered its insurance for the Ulster Independent Clinic, I'd take it. read more

The Ulster Independent clinic is, as far as I am concerned, as good as healthcare can get. I honestly cannot think of a way my short stay in this place could have been improved. The staff were great and the room I stayed in was unbelievable. I had my own TV and my own toilet. It was like a hotel! I can't tell you much about the food, as I was getting my tonsils out at the time and didn't have much to eat, but the menu looked great. As an outpatient as well I have to say I was dealt with in the most incredible manner. I walked into the reception, gave my name and was immediately seen by a medical consultant, which would be rare in anything other than a private clinic like this one. I must admit that this kind of service is not cheap, but if you are with BUPA or something similar I definitely would suggest going here. read more

I have to agree with nichola the ulster clinic is truly the worse in belfast if not northern ireland! The doctors are down right rude and just want you out of the room as quickly as possible so they can get done with the the patients and drive home in their fancy sports cars its insane! read more

Clearly the receptionists and out patient staff at the Ulster Clinic have been poached from the pool of people who failed to get jobs in the NHS or indeed McD's! I queued for 22 mins! Yes that would be 22 whole minutes of my life lost to a queue which was literally out the door of the reception. For a phsyio appt. (Which was excellent.) I am paying for this treatment! Who is the idiot in this scenario? The support staff really let this very tired, resting on its laurels with little competetion facitity down. When I returned the next day to see a Consultant (lovely helpful very nice) I queued only for 14 mins. Way to go! 14 mins to queue to pay them £150 pounds. The rude unpleasant lady who checked me in was then interrupted by a nurse, not once but twice!! Who cares about the lady sitting in front of you clearly in pain and unable to stand..you chat away! I have just come off the phone after making yet another out patient appointment with some one, who if they worked for me, would not be client facing. Indeed would not be working for me for very long! They are rude, unhelpful, passive aggressive and frankly unpleasant. Sadly the Consultant I want to see only uses the Ulster Clinic. Interesting that there is no facitliy to talk to anyone in management at this place. No means of communication. They want your money and no complaints or feedback is required or wanted. If you have a choice I would go elsewhere. read more

It is virtually impossible to get through to the appointments department. This has happened on several occasions - I get a recorded message saying that "all our operators are busy - please try later". First interface with customers - this really needs to be improved!!! read more

At 11am on Monday 17th November my husband tried for the third day to cancel an appointment at this hospital. The receptionist was unnecessarily rude and abrupt. Remember this is a hospital dealing with unwell people. Her manner was totally uncalled for. The management should send her for some customer service training. This is not the only private hospital in Belfast. In future our business will be taken elsewhere. read more

im under the care of a mr swain for an arm problem i only attended here as an n.h.s outpaitent so was very surprised to learn that it was a private hospital until i looked up directions how to get to it on the internet. very nice inside and waiting times not long very nice inside swanky i call it but reception staff very nice i was in and out in abiout 20mins in total but normally im seen at the ulster or musgrave for this so this was out of the norm nice to see at least once what mioney could buy esp when i read about all the comestic surgery this clinic does. read more
