The ladies that work here are always willing to help. The store is very clean and well-kept. The store always offers great deals and the rewards program is really nice. I like that the testers are always pretty decent looking (when in the big cities the testers look diseased and gross). The reason for 4 stars and not 5 stars is due to them always running out of my shade of the Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation (3.5) and they discontinued supplying the hair products I was used to using (smelt amazing, Sweet). read more

I attended the Ulta Salon as I have all over the country. I know that ulta offers a lot of cosmetologist right out of school into stylist positions this experience was clear that there needs to be more supervision over the inexperienced stylist. I made the appointment for 11 was asked to come at 1215 after already having to wait longer once I arrived I was in the chair for 5 hours vs the usual 1.5 I needed my roots touched up and explained I knew my gray color shades was different from the banding of bleach. The stylist kept trying to convince me to do highlights I continued to explain that's not what I wanted but she kept trying to insist it would look better. After settling that dispute we move to color where she strips my whole head to "see what level of raw color" I have. I was asked what my beauty budget was and was charged 255.00 when I said a max of 180. She asked me if I wanted her to remove the banding for 87 an hour I explained I don't have the time or the funds as I just moved to the location. What should have taken 1.5 hours was 5. The stylist kept harassing me to take pictures when in the blow drying state I was asked if I liked the color I explained No I was suppose to be grey I told her blonde in the winter makes me look washed out. I then was unable to talk to a manager the same day and was asked to reach out the next. Feeling worse about my hair I just wanted it fixed. I asked for a refund I was told I'd have to come in for a refund and then the retail manager who was not good at professional "covers the phone" as I hear her and the girl who had done my hair gossiping about me being upset then tells me that she can't give me a refund I needed to go through guest services I've contacted them and it's been 4 days and I spent another 130.00 at another salon to salvage my hair. After this experience I think it's smarter to go to a local salon where if there's an issue they will fix it immediately. In this area I would recommend Glance Salon, I'm so grateful they listened and walked me through what was going on the whole time. read more

Wish I could review just the employee who helped me! Maddy (blonde hair) was so helpful and made sure I found the perfect foundation for my skin tone, and recommended some awesome mascara. She was so friendly and easy to talk to, so when I saw a negative review about her here I knew I had to set the record straight! She is so pleasant and provided great customer service. I have been to this Ulta many times. I have NEVER once been greeted! When I ask for help it has never been friendly, Always seemed like I was being a burden and got awful attitude. I went to get my eyebrows waxed and was told she was booked(which was okay) until I walked around the store for a half hour and she just stood their talking to her friend!! Also EVERY SINGLE TIME I was supposed to get the free goodie I either got oh were out or had to ask for it and got a sigh or eye roll! I'm done going back to this store hope it gets better because I doubt I'm not the only one... read more

Honestly, ulta is one of my favorite places. I love the fact that they're taking extra precautions during Covid, but I was pretty disappointed in the fact that you have someone working the register who's coughing into her hands, then handling the products I'm buying. I was extremely disgusted and almost changed my mind on buying them because she was touching them after coughing into her hands at least twice while she helped ring me up. Definitely won't be returning for quite some time. read more

For a long time customer that spends a lot I am very disappointed in the customer service I receive from Maddy. From someone who manages a lot of people she would have been let go on the spot. I know the pickings are slim in Bismarck for workers but you lost a 300 dollar sale, after a 400 dollar sale last week and a customer forever. I don't think customers need to hear when an employee has worked so many hours in a day and has been complaining to you because we all work and I don't really care. The employees far exceeded our expectations if it would have not been from maddy. read more

I love ulta! I greatly prefer it to Sephora-- at Sephora I've experienced time and time again the girls' rudeness if I show up barefaced. Ulta employees are always warm and friendly no matter how ugly I look! They're very open to helping if you need it and harbor a lot of great advice. Two employees both helped me find the perfect brow routine one night. They're all lovely. read more

Was so excited, like many others, to have Ulta open in Bismarck, ND. But after multiple visits, we have come to the conclusion that it's not what we thought. This has been out customer experience: never have we been greeted upon entering the store. There virtually is never any store associates to ask for help either. Complaints through the Ulta website will get addressed through an automated response, never to have an followup as they say. At the checkout, store associates are unfamiliar with sales and advertisements in the flyer, and apparently the local store doesn't participate in the advertised flyer specials from the website. And the associates at the checkout seems less than caring, happy or upbeat. For example, on the website, hair products were on a special, but weren't on a sale in the store. I also purchased a clearance item and after getting home and looking at my receipt, I was charged twice for it. So if you are looking for knowledgable, upbeat, happy shopping experience, you are better off going somewhere else. The beauty experience at this beauty store is not there. Hopefully Ulta corporate hears the complaints and addresses the issues. There needs to be some Customer Service 101 at the Bismarck store. read more
