But what got me was at the checkout counter, the cashier said oh there is a gift with purchase, but sorry we haven't gotten those in yet. Ever since this Ulta opened, I have found the majority of the employees surly & way less than helpful. But because I love the products they carry, I kept going back. No more! I called to make an appointment with Angela to have my brows waxed. (Angela is one of the few pleasant employees) I was told she was booked today & didn't work tomorrow. Ok. I get it. But what about one of the other girls? I had to ask to make an appt with her. And then the girl on the phone acted like it was a huge deal (audible sigh) for her to go look. I honestly didn't want to come here based on the previous reviews BUT I seriously needed a quick make up run and I didn't have enough time to go to Flower Mound. So...I was looking at NYX products and of course if you're an employee and you see a customer you're supposed to greet them right? Not just walk right in front of them and especially not say EXCUSE ME. I thought that was kind of rude...that was the same girl that checked me out and she seemed super stuck up and blah. My visit here was alright, nobody greeted me and nobody asked me if I needed anything until I finally had no choice but to ask. 3 stars because the girl (I think her name is Lauren) that helped me out at the Bare Minerals section was super helpful and has a great attitude. I've been here numerous times, but this will be my last visit. Most of the associates were gossiping with those working in the beauty salon. I needed help locating a Chi that was on display and on sale. A nice guy finally came over and helped look. He said they were out of stock. AGAIN. I asked if there was a way to get the sale price on a similar Chi that they had in stock and was scoffed at. Why have 6 of the same flat iron on display and none in stock? Store is poorly managed. I drove there for the special cosmetics bag for $20 buy 3 get 2 free. I received two different answers, but basically neither person I asked knew why it was advertised in the flyer but wasn't available at the store. I was going to buy 10 total, but came home empty handed. That's the second time this happens. Also, went to the salon and asked for a specific cut and didn't get it. Worst customer service! I felt like a security risk by the clerk who was assigned to follow me around. I came in specifically for shampoo and was not greeted upon entry. The first words spoken to me were "want a bag?" by the person following me when I stopped to shop other displays on the way to checkout with my shampoo. Shopping and admiring displays and products does not translate into stealing however I was "watched" the entire time. The cashier who checked me out was not welcoming - "phone number?" were the first words to me. She asked me for my email address which I declined. She asked for my birthdate then warned me not to lie that "they would find out!!" ??? I declined and stated I just wanted to pay for my purchase. She rudely stated that "then you won't get rewards". Her name was not Michael as stated on the receipt however I believe she was a manager. She spoke into her headset as I completed my purchase to inform the person assigned to follow me throughout the store that the "customer was now leaving". Strangest experience I have ever had! Someone needs to clearly train the employees/manager who work there. Treating people rudely is not acceptable. I will choose to spend my hard earned dollars at stores who value their customers. Ulta just lost another customer. read more

Honestly, I hate Ulta like I'm not gonna lie. It has the absolute worst customer service of any store I've ever been to. I want to give it one star but I want to give the lovely employee I'm about to talk about 5 stars so I figured a 3 star review balances it out. I don't think I've ever once been asked if I need help when I walk in or even after I'm in there for half an hour looking totally lost. The employees are always just standing around talking to each other or testing makeup on themselves(and that says something because I've worked retail and I don't judge having a chat with coworkers, we are only human, but at least ask if someone needs help first.) Today, though, that changed! For the first time someone actually asked if I needed help as I looked confusedly at the foundation. I didn't manage to get her name but she had bleached hair with dark brown roots and was quite short and pale with tattoos on her arms. She was so so nice and was also a huge help and listened to what I wanted and needed and color matched me to a T. She was non threatening which was really nice because half the time going into Ulta makes me want to have a panic attack because of how trussed up and untouchable all the employees seem. She was such a breath of fresh air though and I am so pleased I came to this location. Honestly, I will come back here just for her help and expertise. I even made sure to tell her manager that she was a huge help and that she was awesome and I hate talking to people because of anxiety so that was a huge step for me to take, which should tell you how great she was. read more

Avoid this Ulta, the employees ignore you when you need to ask questions about products. When they do address you they either interrupt you to carry on conversations with other coworkers or they give you terrible advice on products/shade-matching/techniques. I once asked a girl working in cosmetics to help me pick a new foundation, she applied her favorite on me using her fingers without washing her hands first which really grossed me out! To make things worse I left looking like a drag queen with the caked on look. It is also very important to check your makeup to see if it has been used. Several times I have had allergic reactions and break outs due to products that had been tampered with. These were products that when I've bought elsewhere had no problems with... Because customers are not escorted through the store like higher end makeup stores (ie. Sephora) customers help themselves to products and get their germs on products....eww. So don't shop here unless you know exactly what you're looking for and it's a tamper free container. read more

I live in Plano but work in Denton, so I stopped by here a couple times and had decent experiences. I decided to check out their skin and brow services so I checked Yelp to see what to expect. Wow, lots of bad reviews, but I really wanted someone to apply lash extensions (clusters) and didn't have time to go anywhere else. BUT I was on high alert, kinda expecting this rude, inefficient, treatment. Well... that definitely was not the case. Ruby, who applied my lashes, was so great with helping me decide which lashes to go with, she was patient as I removed the mascara (3d fiberlash, which takes a while to remove and I really should have removed it prior to the appointment), and she gave me lots of opportunities to check her work and make sure I was happy with the results (definitely was). I also noticed there was a really kind woman at the entrance holding bags and offering them to shoppers. I heard some great interactions between customers and employees. There was an older lady who was talking to one about her life and how she used to wear makeup, etc, and kind of going on and on but the employee seemed super friendly towards her and took the time to listen. So, anyways, I just wanted to share that info. Maybe the store saw these other reviews and realized they need to kick it up a notch with customer service.
