I am writing this review from a guys perspective who gets dragged in here every so often while out running errands. The store to me is overwhelming it's not very open and inviting while stacked with daily and weekly specials I would open it up more, but what do I know. Inside while I don't know make up this place is the epicenter of selection. They also have hard to find and mainstream as well. I know they do carry some guys things here but not my type of stuff. While I find some of the employees to be hit or miss for the most part they are and can be very friendly and helpful. I am surprised how busy this place is every time we have been here and they do a good job of line management and getting people checked out. On a recent trip my wife had a return and instead of being a robot with the return the employee asked "why" and went as far as going out to the sales floor and getting the right item. Like I mentioned not my type of place to shop but for my wife and daughters the my love this place and based on the selection I can see why. read more

I set up an appointment online to get my bangs trimmed but it got canceled after it was confiso I went in person to book the appt. They told me they were all booked but the stylist had some time to trim my bangs (she was AMAZING for this) HOWEVER when I got home I realized that she chopped off a strand of my hair in the process and didn't blend it. read more

First and foremost- the worse experience I've had at an ULTA store and truly disappointed. I walked in and asked if someone could help in picking an eyebrow pencil and literally no one came. I walked to the restrooms because my little one needed to use them...as I was walking by...3 associates were just standing around talking. Not even mindful of guest around them. I kept walking, towards the restrooms and the restrooms are absolutely disgusting. Definitely need to be check on at bare minimum. We walk back out to the store and the same 3 associates were standing around so I approached them and asked for help myself (since they weren't going to come to me. I went to them). One kindly helped me and I was thankful for that. I go to check out and the associate who helped me had such an attitude...not approachable...not friendly. She begins to ring up my items and I inform her that the eyebrow pencils are 50 percent off...she rudely tells me not everything in the store is 50%off (to which I tell her I know). She's just staring at me as I tell her that I grabbed them from there (pointing to the stand thinking she would go and check herself) and she not once attempted to walk over let alone ask anyone to check for her. I walked over myself and take a picture and bring it back. She still doesn't believe me so she calls a manager. The manager comes. Walks away. Comes back and begins to type in info and says "towards the end of the day sometimes the items won't ring up on their clearance price." Here's my dilemma...4 of my eyebrow pencils were marked $5.00 and the other 1 I got was not. I don't want to go back to the store because I don't want to ever go back to that store again. Was wondering if corporate could help with this issue. I've emailed them multiple times and chatted with agents and nothing has been resolved. Several young women behind the counter simply chatting and drinking their juice, rolling their eyes while the line stands waiting. I brought in a return and they immediately turned their backs and ignored me. (I spent hundreds the week before at this store, TYVM). The employees are often rude when you ask to look for a product... some of them are sweet but I'm going to stick with Sephora--super kind employees each time no matter what store I visit. Rude employees at checkout. Can never find anyone to help me locate products. Decided to try the salon. After 2.5 hours of coloring and blow drying I saw horrible stair step lines around my face and part. I told her I wasn't happy with how it looked and she said it was "part of the fade out"...? And wouldn't have happened if I didn't move around so much... She re-foiled around my part and face (luckily I had time, +1 hour) and it got better, but she overcompensated with us the toner and now it looks brassy. Employees here are no where to be found when in the store shopping and at the check out they are rude and dismissive.

Pretty decent beauty store, I like how they have drugstore brands as well as premium brands. The coupon situation is kind of a nightmare, they almost always have coupons available but you can only use it on certain items, which seems to be less than half of the items in the store. Almost every time I try to use a coupon, I can't. The associates at the store are super friendly and very helpful. My mom was looking for a specific product and the lady on the floor helped us find the product, plus other alternatives of different price points. I went in to purchase perfume for my mom as she likes a certain perume I can only find at Ulta, macy's or now Amazon. I want to support local business so I purchased here but when I purchased they wanted my phone number which I'm not giving out as I don't want to be on a marketing list and get texts all the time. The sales lady didn't like this and proceeded to tell me I will not be covered if the bottle is broken. I told her will keep the receipt and will take the risk. They seemed very agitated as I wasn't giving them my phone number. All in all a bad experience. Next time I will just purchase on Amazon and get twice the size for the same price. read more

Came here today and had a very UNUSUAL experience.. The 4 stars are for this store being well stocked, clean and having a fabulous selection of merchandise. On to the tea... OK I'm not sure what happened today at this Ulta. I was doing my usual rounds, taking pics of products for my IG, testing new items and grabbing my must haves. I've been in the beauty industry for over a decade so nothing really shocks me anymore, I even own a small indie brand StinaFace (find me on IG @stinaface, bet you liked that little plug right) So I am definitely familiar with the retail sector of the industry. Anyway today I was waiting in line to make a purchase, my hubby walked in with my 1 year old son and they walked over to me to stand with me while I waited in line. Thats when it all started... I heard a loud voice yell from about 15 feet away "YOU READY?!" It was the cashier closest to the entrance. I politely said yes and walked over. At first I just assumed maybe I wasn't paying attention, or maybe I didn't hear her the first time even tho I was actually In a hurry to get rung up because my little family and I were headed for the corn maze. When I reached the register The cashier didn't greet me, she said in a very stern manner "do you have a phone number on file?".... that's when I knew whatever this attitude was, it was directed intentionally towards me. I said yes and gave her my number. I also had a digital coupon on my phone, she saw it and scanned it and gave me a pretty annoyed look. She handed me my bag and that was it.... but man this girl threw so much bad energy my way I felt like I needed to run home, burn some sage, pray to Jesus, take a spiritual bath just to get whatever she threw on me off. Even my husband was like "what was that about" ... Maybe I'll never know.. it was some twilight zone stuff for sure. read more

I stopped by Ulta today for 2 reasons: 1. To get my free birthday gift 2. To try out the It Cosmetics brand. I browsed around the store looking at all the make up goodies & scoped out the girl who had the best makeup application on herself. I found Rachael. I explained to her that my skin has become totally strange since moving to Idaho 8 months ago. I told her that I was interested in the It line, but I was also open to other brands. We discussed what I needed as far as coverage as well as the overall condition of my skin. She told me that It would be a good brand for me. She asked if I wanted her to apply some to see how it looked & I happily accepted. She used minimal amounts of the make up & made my skin look gorgeous in less than 10 minutes. She answered ALL of my questions without a hint of attitude. She was very knowledgeable of all of the product lines & I appreciated that a lot! After she finished applying the makeup I looked in the mirror and was floored! It looked great! She didn't use a ton of product & she explained everything she was doing as she applied it. I'm pretty confident that I will be able to replicate what she did. I love how my skin looks and feels. This is truly a great Ulta location! If you haven't been here before , I highly recommend going out & checking It out. I also recommend asking if Rachael is available to help you out. read more

Allyson Doll is amazing at what she does as well as an amazing person. I took my 16 year old daughter to her for color and after Allyson was done, her hair looked exactly how she wanted it. My daughters hair was already dyed black and she wanted to change it to a dark violet. (I wish I would of took a picture of her after it was done.) I even had an appointment for blonde highlights and have no complaints. We will definitely be going back. I would definitely recommend Allyson to anyone. She knows what she is doing. read more

I have a love hate relationship with this store. I really want to love this store as it carries a lot of the brands of cosmetics I love, both high end/drug store, it is a large clean store, and the employees are less self impressed than those at Sephora, and much more willing to help. My 2 biggest complaints is I would say a good 80 percent of the time I find their stock to be very low. Especially anything that is new or has a lot of buzz around it. I would have to guess that this has to be the buyer is not ordering enough product to meet the demand. But it isn't just high demand products, many items have very low stock as well. I expect this to happen from time to time, especially with a new store, but this a habitual issue. The other issue I have is the last time I went in there were a lot of promotional displays that were blocking pathways and this was made worse by three female employees congregating right in the middle of the walk path to the registers and exit while they laughed and joked, completely obvious to anyone else around them. Too many promotional displays really start to create congestion and deminish the shopping experience. read more

Today was my first time in this Ulta. It was very clean and decently stocked (although Black Friday had wiped them out of tons of merch). I specifically went in to get a replacement for my Anastasia Beverly Hills contour kit and a new primer. I only looked lost for about ten seconds before an associate asked me if I needed help. I stated what I needed and then a beautiful (and I cannot emphasize this fact enough) boy helped me not only find what I needed, but got me signed up with an account and helped me get product they were sold out of even delivered to my door. Rudy was so sweet and helpful, seemed knowledgeable in not only what they carry but clearly knew makeup personally as his face was FLAWLESS. Eyebrows on fleek. I'll definitely be back. This was my first time going into Ulta today. I went to the one in meridian in stead of going to the mall for my makeup because it's closer. I walked in with my one year old in my arms I went to go get my bare minerals makeup, both powered foundation and mineral veil. They were out of my skin tone on the floor, the chick working in that area was doing some girls makeup and wouldn't acknowledge me and I stood there awhile. So I had to go find someone to pull one from the back for me. Then I tried finding the mineral veil and asked the chick doing the girls makeup where to find it and she pointed me to a used one they use for testing and went back to working on the teenager girls makeup. There was none in stock on the display. So I had to go find someone again!!! who could get me one. She was a very unhelpful, snobby cake faced worker. The WORST. I have been in there 3 times now and each and every time the employees treated me terribly. Today, I went in and asked for waterproof makeup, the girl recommended PUR foundation (which isn't even waterproof)- when I asked her to show me a brand that my friend recommended, she said "we don't have any more testers of that, have you tried it before because it's really thick" I told her that I had tried it before and liked it and I showed her the ones her store had and she just said "yeah but we don't have any testers" and walked away. Oh my goodness! Julie at the salon is a life saver!! I live in Kodiak, Alaska and my usual stylist I visit when I come home wasn't able to fit me in. I was initially skeptical of using Ulta, but Julie changed my mind. She was so kinda, so professional, and she totally fixed my hair. I am brunette and tried to add blond and it ended up brassy and dead looking and I thought I would have to cut several inches of my hair. I was really impressed with Rudys customer service he asked if I needed help after browsing for a minute or two but was still looking around and normally I'd have to hunt down a sales associate after letting them know I wasn't ready but he came back after a few minutes to check in. I'm so not impressed with this place. I bought some liter size shampoos and conditioners at sale price, got them home and 1 of them was clearly used. The seal was missing and at least 1/4 of it was totally gone. Not cool. THEN I went to return the product and told them in general I was not happy with that brand and instead of getting another one of that, could I get my typical brand also for sale price. The very young sales lady stated the sale is no longer going on so we cannot give you the other for sale price...Ok so I missed out on that sale. The one they sold me during sale time was clearly used. THEN they don't even try to make it right by letting me get another for the sale price--my typical type I get and asked for was also on sale only a matter of a few days prior--that was the one I wanted vs. $ back. I won't be back EVER to this place. I saw on the news where they seem to be famous for selling USED product. Well I gave them the benefit of the doubt and wish I had not. read more

I had an amazing experience at this store. My baby girl is 9 months and I haven't been able to get my hair cut or trimmed for about over a year. I baby wear my baby and don't have anyone to watch her. I went in to the Ulta salon and Stephanie had no problems cutting my hair standing up while I wore my baby. She even interacted with my baby. To all the mothers out there you know just how much this means to a mother. My hair looks so much better and I was able to get it done with my baby and all. Thank you so much Stephanie! Set up an appointment at the salon a week prior to get my hair dyed an all-over dark, emerald/ forest green. The girl on the phone told me that they had the dye for that. I showed up the day of my appt and they did not have the dye. The manager had to run to another salon and pick up the dye. Her and the stylist doing my hair told me that they could add yellow and neon green to the tips free of charge. I said yes, but made it very very clear that I only wanted small hints of the lighter colors at the tips, like tiny tiny highlights. First off, the stylist bleached my hair for 2 and a half hours, way longer than necessary for my already dirty blonde hair. I found out later when I went to get my hair fixed at a different salon that the stylist had actually overbleached my hair so much that it will not take dye anymore. So she basically ruined my hair. Then, she used the complete wrong dye and my hair was a BRIGHT aquamarine, blue color with huge uneven chunks of neon green and yellow at the tips. Not even a little bit close to what I asked for. I am not good at confrontation so I just paid and left. The next day I got the courage to call, tell the manager what happened, and ask for a refund. The manager was not apologetic in the slightest, and actually told me that they COULD NOT give me a refund but instead could have the same stylist try to fix it. This didn't sound right so I called Ulta's corporate and the lady told me that their policy is that unhappy salon customers are allowed a refund OR a redo, not just a redo. They sent an email to this Ulta's managers telling them to get ahold of me for my refund. I never got a call from this Ulta so I called corporate again and the lady told sent yet another email to this Ulta, this time telling them that they HAD to give me a refund. I waited a day, never got a call, so I finally went in and told them I was there for my refund. The manager was so rude while ringing up my refund, she would not look me in the eyes, and the only thing she said to me this entire experience was, "You're not taking back your tip, right?"
