after having a mental breakdown and literally crying, because the powder compact from covergirl that I'd used for the last 15 years has had a change in formula and it's horrible. I've gone to five different stores and ordered several times online, they're all terrible. I finally came into Ulta and told them I needed a professional help. To be honest, the first visit the girl wasn't super thrilled to be helping me, but I went back in today, 5.8 at about 8:15 PM. and a blonde lady, my age in her early 40s was phenomenal and deserves to be recognized. I was so upset about my makeup and she listened to all of my complaints. She asked tons of questions about products I use. she gave me great advice, taking me through each step of the makeup routine. most importantly made me feel seen and made me feel like I mattered. She treated me like we were friends! At the register prior to this, I had to make a return and they were busy with a line beginning, the manager jumped on a register and assisted me, not only that, but she engaged in a full conversation with me during the return. she listened to everything I had to say about the products I had tried and were returning. They were all super engaging, and it made the purchase pleasant. I usually order most of my products online because I live like 15 minutes away. After this experience, it makes me want to go shopping in the store. I feel like that alone speaks volumes. And I am well-versed in makeup and shopping. I can assure you. I really enjoyed that the entire store was your make up palette and wish I had more time to be able to enjoy and browse but the entire session took over two hours and I was rolling well into my photo appointment time. If you book a salon appt, please book with Violet! She gave me a free trim after I moved to her because the stylist I was originally seeing at Ulta got another job. I came to her looking like a hot mess with my cut and color situation so I appreciate her throwing in that extra service. She is the expert in bleach/color. She also offered to take me home after her shift (I had to Uber there) and she ALWAYS goes the extra mile for her clients. I love the fact that Ulta also offered customers in the salon refreshments. The only downside is that depending on who you book with you're going to pay different prices, and Ulta isn't cheap. FYI: Going Platinum is a major long term process (months) so be prepared to spend $1,000 and up if you have dark hair. I spend $200 each appt. (I'm going from dark brown hair to platinum blonde) and Ive had 6 sessions so far. Sometimes I feel as if they don't use strong enough bleach to lift my hair on purpose just to keep me coming back for more appointments. I have been waiting for Ulta's salon to open back up, since COVID. I finally went back since it opened (YAY!). I brought a picture and showed Elizabeth/Liz and she did it EXACTLY as the picture looked, I was SO AMAZED. She is SO TALENTED. I am always pleased with the service there, people are friendly and helpful, not pretentious. I always feel welcomed there. I highly recommend Ulta salon and cosmetics to everyone that asks me because they are consistently friendly, well priced and have a great selection. I am never disappointed when I go to their salon; I know the staff will keep me current and fresh looking. They will not look at me sideways if I want to switch it up or add some pink randomly. Several months ago my Ulta Beauty account was hacked, I had fraudulent charges on my credit card, and all of my Ulta Rewards points were drained. I had heard of this happening to others and heard of other peoples' bad experiences with Ulta's customer service but I ignored their warnings. I got a huge wake up call when my info was stolen in June: I spent 4 hours on the phone with people who were of no help because Ulta outsourced from the U.S. and got no where. I was told someone would call me about not being able to sign into my account--no one ever did. I literally had to contact Ulta again to see what was going on. That's the short story... so today I go on to Ulta to place an order, they're doing a 5x points deal on certain items and one happens to be my fave wash which I'm almost out of. I keep getting an error message--I tried PayPal, my personal credit card, my Ulta credit card and even AfterPay with NO SUCCESS. So I call Ulta and the lady tells me she will put a ticket in and to try again in two hours. I don't know what two hours is going to do, but okay I oblige. So I call back because I still can't order and but she didn't give me a clear answer on if Ulta would honor the 5x points promotion (which I'm missing out on but clearly is not by fault of my own!) so I message Ulta on Facebook and get this message. If @ultabeauty IN THE U.S. does not rectify this, I will be closing my credit card and spreading the word on how you treat your loyal customers... DON'T SHOP AT ULTA, SHOP SEPHORA OR DIRECTLY FROM THE COMPANY/BRAND YOU WISH TO BUY I'm tired of being treated like shit by Ulta and getting customer service reps that aren't based in the U.S. who can't help me with my problem and then tell me someone will call me back in 5-7 days. read more

If I could rate the salon seperate from the store I would! I got my hair colored back in November and loved it! My stylist(Allison) was fantastic and in a week I'm going back for a retouch and cut. I'm excited because I know she'll rock it and that's hard considering my hair is VERY hard to work with! However, the store part has some of the worst staff which left me very disappointed. I had gone in to get some concealer for some scars I have around my eye from a car accident. I wanted something providing a good cover since I don't want them to be visible in pictures. I'm an avid makeup wearer but in my everyday life, I don't spend a ton of time covering up much so I didn't know what to buy. I was also looking for some powder but wasn't sure about color because I'm sort of in between shades. Well, there were two ladies that worked there chatting to each other, but they were too busy to acknowledge that I was standing there looking. I even went up to them for them to walk away. I decided then that I would just go elsewhere because customer service wasn't their concentration. I will continue going to the salon, but I will not buy anything else there. I stopped in to look For another shade in the Estee Lauder foundation that I am currently wearing. A woman from the Clinique counter came over and asked me if I needed assistance, I took her up the offer. Although she was a very nice lady, my complaint is that she proceeded to remove my makeup off my face with her brush cleaner instead of a cleanser. She was spraying it onto a cotton ball and wiping it onto my face. Needless to say, I couldn't get out of her chair fast enough. read more

DO NOT USE THEIR ONLINE SITE to make an appointment! It is completely not useful at the store. I was called 15 min. before my appointment to be asked to reschedule since the online request didn't sync with their store booking and to mention that I'm already outside the door. ALSO, I did a get a call confirming that time, the day prior and yet that girl failed to notice something was double booked. However, i was nice and said it was fine. She absolutely stated 4pm for 2 days later. I DID NOT get a call confirming that day and time but I clearly remembered what she said and put it in my calendar immediately, so I didn't think of anything about it. The day of the appointment comes along and the worst thing can happen. BUT it might not for you but Oh this was shitty. I got into a car accident driving to this place, I can see Ulta right where I got in my accident. Sadly the first thing I called was Ulta to state that I am coming late due to my accident and they were like "oh that's okay I will let her know" blah blah. I understand how crucial hair appts are. I didn't get into Ulta until 4:40pm and the girl who actually called me had to get the manager. So the manager says I was scheduled for 3:30pm and I came far too late that getting me in would ruin the other appointments. I WAS SO HEATED WHEN SHE SAID THAT. I told her are you kidding me, you rescheduled me in the first place b/c of their technical issues, didn't even call to verify the appt., I get into a car accident which wouldn't really happen if I wasn't rescheduled since I wasn't going to do anything that day, and you're telling me I can not get my hair done. Then she adds that the website should have known to not book late hours and I was like, who was the idiot who called to confirm the appointment in the first place!!! she was obviously not computer automated!!!! Conclusion, don't waste your time with inexperienced staff and people who blame technology for their issues. I told the manager she should call and reschedule one those appointments that happen in 15 minutes since that's what they did to me to let someone else get their hair done. all she could say is sorry and that's all they are paid to do. THIS PLACE IS A ONE & DONE. I ordered quite a large online order and forgot to put the promo code in to get $10 off. I called Ulta online immediately within 2 minutes of placing the order, to see if they could add the promo code! They could not help?! They told me to cancel the order and reorder. Which I did. 7 hours later I receive an email stating they could not cancel the order, take it back to the store! This is ridiculous and so inconvenient. This is not the first time I have had trouble with Ulta. They repeated send things that are opened snd liquid is all over everything. And it is so hard to get it refunded. Then when you return it to the store, the store clerks are so rude that you have a return! Nikki from the Benefit Brow Bar doesn't know what she's doing. She burned me with wax in between the brows which I forgave her for.... I understand accidents happen. BUT I became irate when she marked what my brows would look like AND asked me what I wanted THEN completely did her own thing. Everything for skin care, hair, nails, styling, perfumes, and cosmetics, they have it all. I was pleasantly surprised at their selection of professional grade hair styling tools, they have a better selection than most suppliers geared towards industry professionals. The staff is knowledgeable and the entire store has a very classy feel. They also have an asethician on site to perform facials, waxing, and skin treatment. The prices on the higher end brands are comparable to department stores but the lower end products were not only less expensive than a drugstore but Ulta also had more variety. read more

The salon is amazing! I am incredibly curious on how things work. Dying my hair isn't something that I have have done in the past. Dark brunette, I wanted some blonde. A LOT of blonde. Amber and I went over techniques and options to pick what was best for my lifestyle. The best products for taking care of my new color at home were brought to me with detailed instructions on how to use them after my purchase. Then when it came time for the cut, same thing. Discussed my routines and schedule to see what would be easier and then what looked best on the shape of my face. I can say that it wasn't only this particular stylist. The lady in the chair next to me was receiving the same service. I know from experience that other salons I would have walked into the store and told them to just bleach my whole head and they would have kindly obliged allowing me to walk out looking a hot mess. The girls know that you are a representation if their work and they will not allow you to walk out onto the streets looking horrible. Kudos to the Ulta team! Every time I go in this store and need help, everyone is busy. I stand there to try and look around for someone available, the employees make eye contact but don't help. When I ask for help they rudely tell me to wait while they're with another customer. They have microphones to talk to each other so the least someone could do is get in touch with another employee. Aside from customer service, I wish they gave out samples. I'd like to be able to apply the makeup in the comfort of my home. They let you use testers so why not provide something very small to put the product in ? All negative things aside there is a wide selection of beauty products! read more

Went in to have my eyebrows done. Explained to the girl who did them exactly what I wanted, thickness to stay the same because I had been letting them grow in thicker for the last 4 weeks and just clean them up/shape them. I even repeated that multiple times. Unfortunately I walked out of there with thinner eyebrows than they were even before I started letting them grow in. Now I have to start all over and let them grow again. Never again will I go back there for the salon services. read more

Absolute worst hair cut of my entire life and I do not make that comment lightly. I'm new to the area and had a coupon for a hair cut. I figured I'd give it a try I'm a new mom on a budget. Silly me you definitely get what you pay for. The stylist did not listen to a word out of my mouth. I asked to keep it long if so I could still pull it back. I don't have a lot of time in the morning to get ready some days. She cut it to a point that I could not pull it back. My last hair cut was within 8 weeks so the ends were not that damaged and my hair was far past my shoulders. I specifically told her before starting my hair has many textures and multiple cowlicks. She assured me she could handle it. I also expressed I hated layers especially blunt ones. Not only did she butcher my hair it had more layers then Monica and Rachel from friends. The stylist interrupted my hair cut twice to go attend to a color job and just left me sitting there. She did not dry or check to see if my hair/layers were even they were not. I told her I would pay to have it dried and styled if it was extra. She totally ignored my request. My hair is awful and if a salon thinks that behavior and scheduling is appropriate for a stylist. I did not trust anyone to do a correction. I have managed pinning it back but cannot wait to get another hair cut and style. Anything to help this mess and the cut has made my cowlicks worse.
