We emailed them during the week to book for Saturday lunch and were told it was booked out, so it was surprising to arrive for a tasting to see more than half the tables were empty and be told we could have one as long as we cleared out in two hours time (People must do long lunches around here!) so always worth trying your luck. Food is decent without being mind-blowing: tasty fish and chips, calamari, burgers and meatball pasta were our choices and everyone left happy. The wines are hit and miss for me. Some really nice ones, others don't impress - but I should say that some of my tasting buddies had the opposite experience and loved what I didn't, and weren't taken with what i loved - so it's one of those that might polarise taste buds. My eye was then instantly drawn to the cleverly curated wall of prints, particularly Rona Green's "Latti" tattooed cat, which I would have also loved to take home.. To top this all off, (we do love a cheeky Thursday night cocktail), two West Winds Gin libations, served in little Alice-In-Wonderland style "drink me" medicine bottles, were on offer to sip while we perused the art. Also worth a mention is Cleopatra Jones Modern Macrame - currently coveting an amazing black pot hanger, which was ingeniously displayed as a fish bowl holder, love it! Future Entertainment is probably the biggest events company in Melbourne. They also run a series of smaller local events all throughout the year and book some of Melbourne's and even the worlds biggest Dj's. Future Entertainment is a group of very talented individuals and I have yet to be disappointed with any event run by these guys. If you are a Dj, producer, dancer or some kind of entertainer looking to get involved in the Melbourne dance scene I recommend contacting Future as your first point of contact. If you are a regular festival goer Future recruits a large amount of promoters during festival season to help sell tickets and promote their events, not to mention making a few extra bucks for yourself in the mean time! It usually runs…read morehiphop events for under 18s in the Collingwood area, but recently it's opened its doors to other groups who would like to hire and use the space. It's a huge highly customisable warehouse space. There's a lot of pretty fantastic graffiti on the walls, but this can be covered up if it doesn't suit what you're doing. The staff are incredibly accommodating. When I booked for an event my organisation were running, they couldn't have been more helpful. We were allowed to come in and brainstorm how we were going to set up and pack up, we were allowed to use their equipment, we were even allowed to move every wall around to suit us. It is fantastic. There are a few downsides: noise restrictions after 10pm mean that whatever event you're having has to either end early or be very quiet. Not a problem for my group, but as soon as any kind of amplified band is thrown into the mix there'll be an issue with the neighbours. The impression I got from the staff is that those neighbours are quite the complaining sort.
