What's even more impressive is that he opens these camps up to other kids not registered in his program, showing that he truly cares about the well-being of all children in the community. We could have chosen to enroll our son at a Champions franchise closer to where we live, but the extra few minutes of travel is well worth it to have him work with a teacher and mentor like Master Seong. I have been doing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at Renzo Gracie Academy for many years, so I know what discipline is, and I wanted a similar experience for my child. But making fun and laughing at a child makes them insecure and is not the way to build confidence! Even after all of this happening my son was still going here. Today was the last straw! My son sees a tutor and he forgot (he is a child so they tend to forget) that he had a class with the tutor at 6pm. He went to the earlier class, so I went to get him and bring him home to see the tutor. I motioned from across the room for my son to get ready because he forgot the tutor and my son went to bow and tell Mr. Choi what was happening. At this point Mr. Choi is ignoring him and my son goes to get ready and leave but Mrs. Choi comes Over and tells my son to make sure Mr. Choi heard him. So this time my son is a bit louder and tells him "I'm sorry Mr.Choi I forgot I had a tutor class today and I have to go". Mr. Choi turns around and screams at the top of his lungs " DO NOT INTERRUPT MY CLASS! " when my son is only a few feet away. At this point as a parent I am fuming and wanted to say a lot to him but there were children around so I just told my son "don't worry, just get your stuff". Funny part is it wasn't even over, then Mrs. Choi comes over and says "You know we have rules here" so I turned around and said "what type of rules? Screaming at a kid for having responsibilities?" And then Mr. Choi came over and started screaming at my kid "you're not a good kid and your family is no good..." and then I stopped him right there. I proceeded to level my self to this man and said "What's your problem we are just leaving, do you want to take it on the mats?". You would think as a black belt he would take the offer, but he whimpered away and proceeded to kick us out like dogs in front of everybody and told my son that he is no longer accepted into this academy. Keep in mind this is all happening while the children and parents were watching. I proceeded to walk out and Mrs. Choi follows me out of the store pestering me, and I had to tell her "back off and I am leaving, why the need to follow me ?" I couldn't believe this happened. My son will no longer be going here and I am deeply in pain for the kids that had no choice but to see this go down when he should have self control and discipline. Master Frank and his staff ( instructor Anthony and others ) run an exemplary operation at Champion's Taekwondo of Wantagh. Neither my son Raymond, nor my daughter Madison were very much into sports and we struggled to find a physical activity that both would enjoy. We took a shot with a trial and my kids were hooked immediately after the first class. Master Frank has created an environment that is equal part fun and hard work and they continue to build self esteem and confidence within both of my children. The classes are structured where the children quickly catch on, they learn Korean commands, basic form of punching, kicking and blocking as well as physical fitness drills which somehow work the children very hard but with a smile on their face. Master Frank's lesson span well beyond TaeKwondo class into everyday life, stressing the importance of helping those in need, listening to parents, performing well in school and handling challenging situations including stranger danger. I am beyond impressed with the school and what it has done for my children and for once in our lives, there is no struggle getting the kids in the car and off to an extracurricular activity... we just say "its time for TKD and the kids are dressed and in the car. UCTA has become an extension of our family . Both My son Ray and daughter Emma attend classes at the Wantagh location for several years now. Master Frank has treated us like family since the day we walked through his door. I have seen both my children excel in independence and confidence.I also see a positive impact in there behavior at home as well as there school work . Taekwondo has become a part of our daily schedule for both my children as well as my husband and myself. Not only do they offer Taekwondo classes but LifeFit classes as well for the adults . Where do I start! I started Taekwondo at the age of 4 with master frank and my it changed my life in a positive way! I am now 15 and a TaeKwonDo instructor with master frank! At Champions Taekwondo in wantagh we are one big family! Master frank is one of the most supportive, courteous, kind,patient, caring and over all just an outstanding master! At champions taekwondo we have many different programs such as after school program, Summer camps, ect but there is one program that touches my heart every time I think of it and that is the special-needs program. Both of my kids, as well as myself, are members here and we all love it! Master Frank and his staff are wonderful with kids. My kids have learned so much and are not only is it great exercise for them, they have gained confidence and learned so much. I do the Lifefit Kickboxing program and it is an incredible workout. Con: - class size can go up to 15-20 kids in a small space but they have enough instructors/ assistants. Last two sessions I saw have 4 staff each. One session only has 8 kids so ended up 1:2 ratio. - part of the session they will divide the group. With two groups trying to yell loudly, it can be confusing and distracting for the little ones. - limited seating for parents to observe. Sometimes you walk in you don't lie where to stand so you won't block other parents. - Minus one star for small space. Conclusion: Will seriously think of joining long term after my groupon runs out. It will be about $1600 for 12 months for 2 sessions weekly. It is a great sport for kids and more importantly, I want my little girl to be able to defend herself. Took the initiative to make the call as a first timer with no experience. Considering how many businesses are failing on Long Island due to COVID, you would think serving your community would be number one priority. Clearly some of the employees have forgotten that phone sales are a massive relay.. being attentive, not having an attitude, and clearly engaging with other employees by making faces or mouthing comments or rolling eyes to hear other employees laughing in the background.. this is extremely disappointing and a very poor representation on what an MMA family should embody.

I came out to long beach to visit my family and I was looking for a place to to drop in and train…read moreand i found that in Long beach jiu jitsu. The mat space is clean, the students are all welcoming, and professor Lee is awesome (a legitimate black belt who is always looking to expand his knowledge). Would highly recommend this spot to anyone who is visiting or looking to start training.
