I was enrolled in my second week of classes when student advisor advised me that I was being canceled because of my background check. I had definitely made mistakes in the past just as everyone, but never was this a question in the beginning or during enrollment. My heart was broken but not for long, as DeVry University enrolled me, and when I told them what happened with Ultimate medical they informed me that in 2021 was illegal to even criticize anyone for their background!! I'm not a violent criminal, I've never hurt anyone in my entire life except myself with poor Choices! Thanks be to God that I was able to enroll with an easy mind knowing that I'm with a professional university that cares about me. I was entirely unenrolled after my second class because during the five week period for that course I was hospitalized twice, extremely sick a large portion of the time, then had a major family death that caused me to have to drive across the country. I had tried to keep up with my work to the best of my ability, but it's a bit difficult when you have all this going on. I just barely failed the class, yet instead of letting me retake the course, or get an extension, after I spoke with multiple advisors who told me that is what would happen, I was instead entirely unenrolled without any kind of notice or warning til AFTER it was finalized. Now, if I want to go back, I have to start from the very beginning with the course I'd already taken and passed. The school wasted my time, my money, and did nothing but lie to me. All they want from you is money, non-profit my ass. The only communication you ever get is an advisor who will call you seventeen times a week to check on you, but feign care and just say finish your work and nothing else, they don't care if you're lying in a hospital bed barely able to move. read more

I would definitely choose an in-person school next time. The first week or two of school was perfect, the Advisors reach out on a daily basis. It went from that to you can't reach out to ANYBODY! Between Academic Services and Classroom Support I don't know which one is worse. You get transferred to ANYBODY and they can NEVER help "I can't give you the answers". I never asked for answers I asked for assistance so I can understand it better but miss a day or two submitting assignments and they calling you back to back. I was very disturbed today at 5:20 p.m. 9/11/2025. I received a call from the Supervisor of financial aid, because I was having trouble receiving my financial aid and disbursements. I had not received any of my disbursement this year. I am graduating Saturday 9/13/ 2025. So, now all of the sudden it was found out today, I have no financial aid for this year, and they want me to pay for my tuition and I am responsible. I'm trying to see how, because if my fafsa had 13 errors on July, financial aid should have caught these issues before the deadline. Someone always called me requesting tax Transcript, wage Transcript. My first semester there were no, issues with my financial aid and everything was submitted disbursement were issued. Now 2 days before I graduate, I am not getting no financial aid, after staying up late nights turning my assignments on time. Then now finding out I had failed a class and this messed up my credits. No one has ver talked to me about classes or credits, which will affect my financial aid. I feel my academic advisor or financial advisor should have informed me or seen what I need to do to keep my financial aid in the the right Status. Because no one explained to me about certain numbers of credits which will affect my financial aid. This is a scamming school. The first semester was a breeze, but now I'm graduating here are all kind of issues, and I am not treated fairly, because this matter should have been taken care of before 2 days before graduating. Nothing was never placed in my school or personal email. When zI was talking to financial aid no one said nothing about a deadline, we even were on calls together to get tax paperwork. Then we had made corrections on Fafsa several times. With all these errors on my fafsa this should have been caught way before now. I am not responsible for these errors, financial aid department should be catching these problems and taken care of way before now. I am so hurt and haven't been treated fair. I was so excited about my degree and have learned a lot about my field and was so excited about using my skills I have learned. This is a wake up call for me. Excellence in a school (instructional, employer no cost placement staffing and to work for!)

I attended Ultimate Medical Academy and earned a degree in Medical Billing and Coding and a second degree in Medical Office Management. After I graduated from each I was offered multiple jobs, all basic call center type work that the pay was minimum wage or a little over. Having a dual degree should have made it easy for a better job, but they never offered anything more than call center work that you could find on indeed. My daughter's medical condition took the turn for the worst, so I decided to put my job search on hold to be able to care for her. It has now been over a year. I have told UMA on multiple occasions, verbally and in writing, to take me off the call list. I am not interested in job placement. They sent me a form to fill out asking for detailed information on my daughters medical condition, why that would stop me from working, and to give a date of when I'll be able to return to the job market. there is absolutely no reason I should have to give my daughter's complete medical history for them to stop calling. To this day I still receive multiple phone calls, emails, and text messages every week.. many times they call I hit ignore to send it to voicemail because I'm tired of repeating myself. On Monday, April 7, 2025, I went to log in for the third week of a new course. I contacted because none of my classes were available, and they informed me that I had been expelled for not participating in class during my third week. How come I wasn't behind on anything, logged in daily, and had good scores when the third week only began on Monday, which is this Monday? It's absurd that you're telling me that I have to restart my lessons, but I won't. They even informed me that I wasn't behind and that I was doing well when they called to see how I was doing. read more

I got all the way to the end of the program to be told that I more than likely would not be able to complete an externship because of something on my background. Now in the beginning I remember them say they do a level one background check. Now because they failed to do a background check equal to what employers do i have to pay for classes that I can't complete. On top of that they are expecting me to look for somewhere to do my externship. Oh and the previous months before all of this occurred they kept calling me saying "your externship is coming up are you ready" as if they had it lined up but didn't. I moved my whole life around to get ready for my externship and was paying a babysitter to watch my son on weekends (when he had free weekly daycare) to prepare for the externship. Not to mention I brought my graduation gown and had made plans with my family. I was embarrassed and still get depressed because of this situation. I had seen an ad (10/12/21) for UMA & gave my contact for more information. Within 24 hours, I received that info. While speaking with the representative, Ozella, I received a second call from the same phone number that was already in use. I didn't answer, assuming it an error in the system. The info I received was well put & clear, however, when I expressed that I would not start the enrollment process for personal reasons, I felt as if I was being overly pushed by the rep to enroll same day. Once off the phone, 5 minutes later I receive a call from UMA from a "local" number and it's a different rep with the same exact start of the call. When told that I already received the info & was not ready to enroll, the rep abruptly hung up, no enjoy your day or we look forward to hearing from you. Rest of the day, I was still being called by UMA from various numbers and ended up picking up one of the "local" ones. I expressed that I no longer wished to be contacted; 12 hours after expressing that, they have not stopped. I originally had the interest of enrolling with UMA down the line, however, seeing how they practically harass potential students or unenrolled parties, I'll be looking to get my certification at a more professional school. read more

Your teachers are the best thing you have going for you. Financial Aid is beyond ridiculous. If they answer their phones, they know nothing and act like you are bothering them. Someone should let them know the students pay their salaries. I find it absolutely funny that we, as students, spend a lot of money to attend your school to prepare ourselves for a career. It would help if you started with your staff. They make appointments that they don't show up to on time. You can't call the school and get a straight answer from any department without them calling their supervisor, or transferring you elsewhere, who transfers you yet again. I was very satisfied with UMA the whole time I was in classes up until the last five weeks of school when they started preparing me to graduate. Way too many people are involved, who do not communicate with each other. You should know your process before you call a student. Everybody is texting, emailing, calling, and scrambling for answers, that is nonsense. Train your people to do the job they have, the employees of the school act like they got the job and were just thrown out there. You are in the wrong business for that. The managers should listen to how the students are responded to. Now it is time to be set up with interviews, the laptops are a mess and out-of-date. I couldn't even keep up with the Zoom call with mine. I've been set up twice now with interviews that did not happen. For the number of years I will be paying for this education, I'm very disappointed. Graduation for those who can not attend is not even worth a mention, let it just scroll along the bottom. I have a 4.0 gpa, on the Dean's List the entire time with high honors. My name was not even spoken. I was told my student loan that I applied for in June would be coming any day. Then I was told you would have it within ten more days. So I planned my trip to Florida to attend my graduation. I kept on waiting but no funds arrived. I called again. Oh well,this person dug a little deeper. There was a hold on it. She spoke to her supervisor, suddenly the hold was gone. I was told no reason to cancel your trip, it will get there in time. I called the morning before I needed to cancel, it could take up to three more weeks, but no woories its on its way. When I called earlier this week after I seen it was paid to the school, but me. The young man laughed and said " That is the Government for you". Great Answer UMA. So l did not have money for a desk or chair, the laptop couldn't work with the Zoom call, no one would answer after I was removed from the team meeting for the job, and they offered to reschedule me why? It's a dictum to say that it's never too late for education. I haven't been in school in a decade but still made a choice to go anyway. I showed apollonian by completing all program courses with a 4.0 GPA. Although, it wouldn't have been possible without the amazing staff. They were with me every step of the way. The advisors are super supportive and helpful and making sure your family is doing well not just your school. The teachers are helpful and when things got overwhelming and I got behind on school they understood and accepted late work. All of the advertisements said you could go to school for a job you can do at home (medical coding and billing) with kids and that sounded like exactly what I needed and that's what made me sign up. It wasn't until my last class that I found out this job is difficult to do at home when you have little kids which was upsetting because I have to stay home with my kids. When I first started UMA it was so much fun with learning but as time passed things took a turn. Some of my assignments would say incomplete after completing them and my advisors were hard to reach. Financial aid fluctuated and made me jump through hoops and hurdles only for me to not receive some payments. I am due to graduate in December and expect for things to only get worse because the ork is very easy but they do not understand when you have personal/physical matters to handle. I have to say from a working stand point- If you are not a hard worker and you can not focus and meet deadlines this is not the job for you. This job will turn into a career for very few people. Also as far as my experience went it was terrible. But that was just my situation. As far as the education goes, it is expensive- but it is 100% online and it is in the nature of the school that makes it that way. Any online school is going to be that way. I had to block the phone number because of how many phone calls I got from this school; I started receiving phone calls when I was scammed into giving my phone number when I requested to see psychology schools near me online. They can't even tell you how much the average tuition is for a year. They said "The price varies for every student". Bullshit. Even Google can tell you the average yearly tuition.
