I suggest the "humdinger"! Michelle will be glad to serve you up and you are more than likely to catch some good local gossip while you wait and while you eat. Her dad Marvin is there and will often have some sage advice! Forget McDonalds go to a real local business with some nice people that will serve you up some great food! I highly recommend and if you need some an oil change you can let the trusted Watson Brothers take care of that while you get a bite to eat. The convenience store fills a need, being open late and selling beer, cigarettes, snacks, ice and such. It's an OK place. The diner is also OK, offering typical diner food at typical diner prices with friendly service. Just fine, but nothing to write home about. One thing that makes Lander's River Cafe better than a typical diner is the view out the window: you can see where Callicoon Creek is about to flow into the Delaware, and from the angle out the back window the two bodies of water appear to be flowing in opposite directions. It's beautiful. Here's where Lander's River Mart excels: in the convenience store part of the establishment they make sandwiches. Not fancy sandwiches, but good subs. Their Italian combo (at about $6) weighs over a pound and a half and easily feeds two hungry people. It might be the best deal in Callicoon; the cold cut to bread ratio is obscene. Reluctantly I just had to lower my star rating from 2 down to 1. I made the comment earlier that…read morethis station rarely has any washer fluid at the gas pumps for us drivers to wash their windshields. I'm sitting at this station right now and I was debating buying another tank of gas however I first checked the reservoirs and not only is there no washer fluid in there, it's bone dry, but there's a brand new squeegee. Are you seriously telling me that somebody put brand new squeegees into empty reservoirs and did it dump at least some water in there? It's going to cost me a few cents more per gallon down the road but that's where I'm going.
