Secondly, the company gave me ample hours over the summer months when I first got hired, but bumped me back to 27 hours per week due to "lessened business," yet refused to allow the store manager to fire the person who was habitually showing up 1 hour and 30 minutes late for EVERY shift, and put him on for a minimum of four days per week. Third, corporate micromanages you, to the point where they expect perfection, but they cannot be bothered to train one assistant manager per shift to ensure safe work practices over the course of all shifts. Our phones were down one evening when I pulled a double shift, and I was told I couldn't keep my cell phone on the floor. A customer got belligerent with me when I asked for his ID for a major alcohol purchase (a minimum of 8 6 packs of booze), and threatened me when I refused his sale, as I was required by the company to ID ALL customers for tobacco and alcohol products. He continued to threaten me for over half an hour, while I had absolutely NO access to a phone to have him physically removed from the store at 3 Military Street, in Houlton, Maine. 10/10 will never recommend that anyone work there! That place isn't worth the minimum wage they pay.
