The classes are chill, but the main draw is the auditorium seats. Oh man I love the feeling of those chairs. They have the perfect combination of firm and soft seating that will wonderfully stimulate your posterior, and it's enthralling to me that they possess the ability to balance the combination so perfectly that I feel like Remy's friend from Ratatouille when he tries the two flavors together for the first time and experiences the burst of texture and perfection. It's the only place that makes me feel comfortable enough to wear an adult diaper and defecate every content from my bowels so I can press my bodacious dump truck into one of those heavenly chairs and squish around my fecal concoction between my rump cheeks and the cushion for a sensory pleasure acquired no where else. Been parking at the library lot for years with no issue; got a little discgolf in on the campus course, 7 am on a Monday, got back to my car by 9 am with a $30.00 ticket on it, you cheap POS of a school, with your hideous brutalism and crushed beer cans littering the entire campus. The lot was less than 30% full, and you need to ticket me? Wait, that is WHY you need to ticket me. ABSOLUTELY enjoyed every minute of my time here at this 4-year university. Graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in the large amphitheater this past May 2008. The Nursing program at the school is rigorous, tough, and excruciating at times. . . . but totally and completely worth it. Real-world experience in the form of clinicals begins in the Sophomore year, earlier than most colleges I'm aware of. Classes take the form of small groups, lecture halls, lab practicals, etc. Each step preparing you and honing your skills for a life after college. Here, they actually teach you what you'll need to know when you jump into your first job. As far as I'm aware, the college boasts one of the largest passing rates of the NCLEX (nursing boards) post-graduation. I passed on the first time and felt highly prepared starting my first RN position at a local hospital. As a side note: The college of nursing (mostly girls) is located right next to the college of engineering (mostly guys). . . you do the math. Looking past the academic aspect of the university. . . the campus offers a large amount of clubs, groups, activities, jobs, meeting places, etc for the student body to enjoy and use. Dorms range from single rooms all the way up to apartment styled areas complete with living rooms, kitchens, and separate bedrooms. Though things quiet down on the weekends, as the college seems to be made up of mostly local travelers who are able to visit friends from home at this time. . . there's always somewhere to go, somewhere to party, some adventure to go on. The small campus atmosphere makes meeting new people with similar interests and goals easy to do! Parking sucks but they can't win in every area. I highly recommend this school to anyone interested in Nursing, anyone who enjoys a close-knit campus atmosphere, etc. read more

I would have to say I really enjoyed my time at UMass Dartmouth and I was able to get my Bachelor's Degree without a hitch. I attended UMass Dartmouth for two years after I transferred from Bristol Community College. However, I attended this college as a commuter so I can only speak about how my commuting experience was. My classes were two days a week so I was able to make a schedule that worked around my job. The college is very large with the parking lots shaped around the buildings like a circle so it will take getting use to but it has a new renovated library which is a great place to get your work done. My only complaint is the parking decals are very expensive and if you don't pay for a sticker, you'll get ticketed almost every time. I also found this college to be affordable for a university, especially me being a Massachusetts resident. I was able to get financial aid for the majority of my time there so my debt is less than $5000 dollars. I would recommend this college to anyone who's serious about going for their Bachelor's. If you can get a Pell Grant, then heck, you got nothing to lose as a Pell Grant might even cover the whole cost. UMass has majors that are in high demand fields employers want. A great college to go for the science and arts programs alike. I see no point in paying thousands more for the fancy, Ivy league colleges. You are just paying for the name. In the end, a BA or a BS is the same no matter where it was obtained. State colleges are just fine. read more

My younger brother graduated from UMASS Dartmouth on Sunday with a degree in Biology. (Congrats Jimmy!) I drove my parents to the ceremony. We arrived an hour and a half early and there weren't any seats left. The school allowed people to save one and two rows of seats for their friends meanwhile elderly and handicapped people had to climb up a small wall and sit on a small grassy hill. There was only about 1/4 of the seats needed out. There was a huge empty field next door, where there would have been plenty of room for a ceremony instead of the extremely cramped amphitheater, where it was held. The ceremony itself was great except for the commencement speaker who gave the most depressing graduation speech I have ever heard. After the ceremony, my brother had to get the last few things out of his dorm room. Instead of the moving out I was used to during my college days, we were forced to circle around the campus then wait in line to get to his dorm, which was one block away from where we were parked. We moved out in about 15 minutes but to get to the dorm took over 45 minutes. UMASS Dartmouth is a great school but after 108 years, they still have not gotten graduations down. read more

They give you inaccurate information or very general information, whenever you go and ask them something then you get more confused and have more questions, but then they get pissed because you have more questions. The advisors don't look very neat and they don't seem to know what they do. read more

I have found used needles in the LARTs bathrooms , campus, backup generators don't work when powers out , teachers are almost all foreign and lack conversation skills, WiFi isn't good enough to do anything import that requires a steady connection , Food is horrendous, dorms are gross and the heat / ac is always blasting , I'm in my senior year and I can confidently say that my tuition has gon nowhere but into the pockets of the university. This university needs to be held to a higher standard but unfortunately it's a cesspool of trash and various other issues , sure you'll get your degree but not without headaches and headaches. The students treat me like crap and the housing department, oh god just the worst human beings ever. Loved this school. Graduated with a Operations Management degree, and am running my own business currently. Every school has it's quirks obviously, but I after visiting other schools this one looked a lot better. PRO'S: LOVE the architecture, not really something that everyone likes, but it has a lot of twisted cement buildings. The inside of some of them has floating cement platforms that you can study on or take little pathways to get to. Crazy design. Campus life is great PLENTY of clubs to join. From Lacrosse to...theatre, to playing like magic the gathering at 4 in the morning in a closed building. Party's. Love the party's. Typical crazy college party's except, unlike at Umass Amherst you're not going to get raped or killed on your way back to your dorm. The Dartmouth campus is small enough so that you'll probably recognize most people in your grade by the 4th year there, but the school is large enough to allow to meet fun new people all throughout the school years. Classes are very well put together, I loved the structure of the majors and how they branched out by junior year into different subdivisions of what major to choose. Homework wasn't bad for most of the classes if you actually can handle a little responsibility. I loved the dorm rooms, start out smaller freshman year and end up with your own mini house that you share with 3 people, but with your own room by senior year CON'S: Parking sucks dick. They can't even add anymore parking lots because the campus is setup as a circle and the ground for draining rain runoff is already so small that floods can happen in some areas. Also weird ritual where peoples side-view mirrors on their cars get hacked off like every night. A good number of foreign teachers that might be hard to understand. And of course the normal woes of college such as your dick RA's you get sometimes, the shitty online add classes system (called COIN here) bla bla bla. But no school is going to let underage kids just drink their asses off and not do homework so I mean whatever. Not quite con's at all. We got our RA to do keg stands in the dorm room so can you! Overall I recommend this school as a cheap alternative that receives the same accreditation as Harvard when you graduate, without paying it off the rest of your life. read more

I went to Umass Dartmouth for 3 semesters before I ended up transferring. Honestly I hated the school. Yes I hated the architecture and the surrounding area but that is not my main gripe. I thought the academics were a joke. I had more work to do my senior year of high school than in my freshman year of college. Some of the professors were good, most left me uninspired. I suppose the problem was the lack of motivation from the student body which lowers the standards for class work and thus dumbs down the entire exeperiance. I have heard UMD is great for nursing, engineering, it has a good art program, but the liberal arts area is very meehh. Also, I found living on campus hell. People complain A LOT there about how many people commute or leave for the weekend and those complaints are well founded. If your idea of a Friday night is not pounding back natty ice while listening to pop hip hop or pop country in a dorm room that has to be paranoid of RA's walking by EVERY HOUR or going to a seedy club in Providence than skip this school. Also, I found the majority of this student body to be apathetic politically, and could say downright racist, sexist and homophobic things of all the time. Some vile nonsense. Also, the college culture one traditionally thinks of, like somewhat pretentious, yet endearing, coffee shop talks about something academicy like postmodernism,etc., are strikingly non existent at Umass Darmouth. In conclusion if the above does not sound like fun check out Umass Amherst because at that school, even if your idea of fun is pounding back natty ice you can do it at a real party not some cheap shot dorm. Also, RA's are Umass Dartmouth are obnoxious. At Umass Amherst I hardly knew who mine was, check ins are done by students and there is no absurd bag checking rule to get into dorms. And at the same time there was less partying in the actual dorms and less partying on weeknights. Maybe in Southwest residential area at Umass Amherst there is but I lived in Central and it was, for the most part, nice and quiet on weeknights but on weekends off campus the parties and bar scene was way more hopping than at Umass Dartmouth. don't waste your time. professors don't teach, they just read from overhead slides. i am an accounting major and an excellent math student. i have taken accounting i twice with two different professors and i'm still confused. all (if not most) professors prefer online instruction over class room. don't waste your money and just go to an online school. they basically read the slides and then post them. you are not taught, you must learn on your own. class room instructions is non existant! and when there is, the professors difficulty with the language makes it impossible to understand what they are saying as most (if not all) accounting professors are asian!!!!! such a waste of my time and money. don't go to this school!!!!!! read more
