It's easily missed on a busy part of town. Cute little gem. They have very colorful umbrellas hanging upside down from the ceiling, the tables are on top of colorful barrels. Service is great. The food tasted good. But the portions were rather small. So it boils down to expensive food but it cured our cravings for rice. It could get cramped if you have a big group.

If you are looking to experience amazing Asian Cuisine in Galway, Ireland. I highly recommend Umbrella. Upon entering I was made feel very welcome. All the appetizers and Entree I had tasted amazing! Umbrella is a must visit if you love Great Food. The restaurant is very clean and has very clean rest rooms. The staff are all very professional and genuinely care about their customers. It should be noted I am originally from Dublin, Ireland, lived in the United States for over thirty years and served with the United States Marines all over the world. I definitely know a great restaurant from all my travels and life experiences. You definitely won't be disappointed. I definitely will return in the near future. Umbrella rates five stars and more!

This is a little gem of a place. They have food from South East Asia and it is delicious. We had Malay Ginger scallion vegetarian tofu with noodles and it was literally 10/10. Maybe we were hungry after the drive from Dublin but it was superb. Spicy salt and pepper tofu did not have tofu taste at all. It tasted like tiny Malay vadaas ( an Indian fritter ) . We finish a plate and ordered another. It was so fulfilling. This is also a place where they have tapas, small plates and a lot of sauces to go with your meat and begets to choose from. The home style dumpling is heavy on mushroom and if you like that it's a 9/10 for me 7/10. I wish they were close to me but I'll fly just to eat here.

Super cute hang out spot. Would love to come again if my time here in Galway wasn't so short. I ordered a Japanese Udon Noodle. Take in mind that this place is a tapas joint so every dish is served in mind of sharing with more people. Generally people go to tapas place to order three or four dishes and then shared amongst themselves. I came alone today, but really enjoyed the atmosphere. The interior is beyond fantastic, I'm a sucker for aesthetics. I really liked the service here too. The girl that took my order was extremely kind and thoughtful, whenever she realized I was a foreigner. I guess my States accent gives it away, but I really enjoyed my lunch here. The decorations that pull this place together really gives it its individuality. I wish there were more marketing exposures for this place, because this place was really nice.

Visiting Galway and hearing that this city provides a gastronomic experience encouraged us to carve out a day where all we did was bounce around from local eatery to local eatery....ummmm, Umbrella wasn't on our list and we only came across it because we walked by it! The inside decor caught our eye from the outside streets and we knew we had to walk in. Let me tell you, adding this to our list of places to eat on our "self-guided food tour" was one of the best decisions we made this trip. From the decor, to the genuinely friendly staff, to the delicious food, to reasonable prices - this is a must stop for all of you! The food was superb! Having an Asian tapas place is a genius idea, btw! You can order an array of dishes and have the chance to get all of your cravings satisfied! My favorite this trip were the tornado prawns!

I was in the mood for tapas and found this place in an Internet search. I've never had Asian tapas and the menu looking interesting so we decided to give it a try. The place is pretty small but there are a few places to sit. There were barrels for tables and square stools to sit on. They weren't very comfortable. The ceiling was covered with different colored umbrellas which was cool to look at. I started with a glass of Tempranillo. It was ok. We ordered Crispy Thai Spring Rolls and King Oyster Mushrooms. When I ordered the Crispy Potato Cheese Balls from the chalkboard she said the board was for weekends only. She checked with the chef and they had them so I did get them after all. The Thai Spring Rolls were spicy but very good. I did have to get some water with them. The Oyster Mushrooms were battered and fried and delicious. The Potato balls were good but would have been better with a bit more cheese in the middle. Our server was nice and the food was good. They also have sushi and food other than small bites available.

We had to wait a couple of minutes for our table then were seated. Prior to coming to Cava Bodega, I had tried some tapas but not much so I wasn't sure what to expect. To start, my friend and I got a glass of wine then ordered food. For dinner, we ordered the anchovies with piquilla pepper, patatas bravas, and paella marinera. I had never tried anchovies so I was admittedly nervous but the dish was sooo good. Patatas bravas is a dish I've tried before but I really liked Cava's version. This was also my first time trying paella and it was delicious! Everything was cooked perfectly and had a great combination of flavors. For dessert, my friend and I ordered the churros. Can never go wrong with this sugary cinnamon delight and we were definitely happy! Overall, I had a great time at Cava and it was the perfect birthday celebration. If you want to give it a try, definitely go for it!

From the start our waiter seemed impatient for us to place our order quickly and encouraged us to largely upgrade our menu selection to a much more expensive option. When I asked if an exception could be made regarding the upgrade, there was no flexibility. Another disappointment was that after taking our order, our waiter rarely checked in on us during the meal. We were also switched to a different waiter partway through service, and had a total of 3 waiters throughout the meal which made the experience feel somewhat unprofessional. As for the food, it was enjoyable, but it didn't stand out as exceptional. As an average Joe who isn't a food critic and simply enjoys a good meal out, I came in expecting something noticeably special given the restaurant's Michelin recognition. While the dishes were well prepared, they didn't feel significantly better than anything I've had at many good restaurants, especially considering the price. Overall, everyone was kind but I feel like the business lacked professionalism and attentiveness for what it was hyped up to be.

The space itself is small and cozy, with just a handful of tables and a private room, which gives it that intimate, tucked‑away feel. I'd 100% go back. They offer two specialty cocktails and a wine list, and while the cocktail selection is limited, the wines are unique and fantastic -- definitely worth exploring. The food was outstanding across the board. The monkfish scampi isn't what you might picture, but it's fantastic -- super crispy and full of flavor. And you have to get the bread: tomato focaccia or brown bread, then topped with the fennel, thyme, and maple butter were all unforgettable. The bavette steak was delicious, and the mashed potatoes were truly out of this world. The sea trout was incredibly fresh; just a heads‑up that the gremolata is spread over the whole dish, so it ends up almost poached in olive oil -- worth noting for anyone sensitive to that, but the flavor itself was excellent. Definitely end the night with the affogato and the shortbread cookies (chef's kiss). Who doesn't like to dunk their dessert? Highly recommend, would absolutely come back.
