Had dinner here with the family on a recommendation from a local. A lovely place that was easy to walk to from our accommodations through the bustling and vibrant Latin quarter. Ambience was muted and elegant, wait staff were friendly and patient and the food was superb, truly. An unexpected gift to find creative and delicious appetizers and entrees after a few days of solid but predictable soda bread, seafood chowder, and chicken fillet rolls in the Aran Islands. We tried two crazy sounding appetizers and they were both out of this world good. Shiitake donuts yeah?? Wish we'd had a chance to try brunch for some breakfast burritos and Bennie's eggs. Also dig their philosophy on food and farms, our family in Taiwan are organic farmers and the care and work that goes into producing food with that ethos is no joke. read more

Another superb meal during our trip to Ireland, this time for brunch. Bit of a line but worth the wait. I had the Dela Fry, which was a ton of food but 100% delicious and worth it ...especially paired with their outstanding house roasted coffee. I basically didn't eat the rest of the day. Where do I even begin? This meal was incredible. The side salad blew me away (maybe I was hungry) the charred tomatoes were the star and I'm now inspired to do that at home. The seared seabass was perfectly seasoned and full of flavor. I love that they source from their own farm, the freshness really shows. I am so glad to have stumbled upon Dela. Was visiting Galway for a few nights, and procrastinated on making dinner reservations. Thankfully, Dela had some availability on a Friday night. I felt strongly confident that my husband and I would love it, as our favorite restaurants back home are farm-to-table, and my husband was previously obsessed with a local wild-game food truck. Dela did not disappoint. The ambiance is so comfortable and relaxing. Our server was amazing. The food was fantastic. My husband and I split the venison pie. He had the featherblade steak, and I had the wild game of the evening (which was wood pigeon). I loved that their menu included education on their little blue zone and how they source their food. I also loved that the restaurant was close to the Latin quarter, but not IN the Latin quarter, so it was easily accessible while also being quieter on a Friday night than other parts of town. The menu is broad and has a mix of local, traditional and innovative items to choose from. The Dela Fry was very good, with both black and white pudding, and the Brunch Burrito was tasty. Came first thing in the morning before heading out for the day. Opened at 9:30, the earliest I could find around town. The service was quick and friendly. The portions are quite large. Very veggie/vegan friendly. The brunch burrito is supposedly very popular but I didn't like it much. It looked good, but was missing something. Maybe because I didn't get the bacon. I ordered the brunch burrito with bacon, my husband got the fried chicken Benny. Both dishes were delicious, definitely ask for the homemade hot sauce (it isn't that hot actually but has a very good almost sweet chili flavor). The appetizer came with about 20-30 mussels and clams, and the tomato broth drew away from the fishiness. (8/10). We also tried the Grilled Galway Bay Seafoods Mackerel Fillet, Sautéed Pak Choi, Pickled Kohiraba, and Asian Dressing (€10). This appetizer surprised me! Perfect brunch or date spot in Galway if you are looking for fresh and perfectly cooked food. How does one make a breakfast sausage so delicious? I can't stop thinking about it. Certainly the best Irish breakfast I've had in Ireland. The Dela Fry is a must - crispy potatoes, perfect bacon, tasty black sausage, and an addicting salsa. So good and not greasy like others I've had. Did I mention the sausage? I also had a bite of the pancakes and they are the lightest pancakes you'll ever have. So so good. I just wish I got their coffee as well because they roast their beans. The service was excellent and it was absolutely gorgeous inside. It felt so cozy and welcoming. We were able to get a table for 6 and a baby without a reservation for Friday lunch. Not the best place for kids but they brought us a high chair and we were able to make it work. Popped into Dela Cafe on my last morning in Galway. I wanted a cute spot with wifi so I could get some work done as well as a hearty breakfast & coffee. I was not disappointed. The waitress was a doll and helped me pick out my entree and ensured I was caffeinated. The eggs Benedict with Irish bacon cured my hunger! On a chilly, rainy evening, we were glad to have made a reservation for Dela for dinner. We were seated right up against another table for 2 with a plastic divider between us. It was slightly awkward because the couple next to us were just constantly making out, and mind you, it's basically a table for 2 with a divider. So they were really, really close to us. On to the food, however: - Vegetable Risotto: this was such a lovely and light dish after traveling throughout Ireland and eating a lot of meat, seafood, and heavy stews. I thought the risotto was slightly undercooked, but my partner really enjoyed it. - Scallop and Prawn Linguini: I've encountered the term "prawn" being used on many menus across the country, but every time the dish is brought out, it is really just shrimp. In any case, I will say that this dish slightly missed the mark for me. It was very oily, even before adding the chili oil. The scallops were overcooked but not rubbery, so I didn't mind it too much. Overall, the dish still needed something to really oomph it up, and I thought the bottle of chili oil would do it, but it still was a bit lackluster in flavor. Service was great, and it seems like this restaurant gets very busy during dinner time. So definitely make a reservation! read more

IMMA say this was one of the best restaurants during our tour of Ireland and the United Kingdom. All of the ingredients were fresh, the flavor was amazing, and the staff was very attentive and welcoming. We have plenty of good food during this trip and this ranked at the top of the list. They should be very proud of what they're doing, and this reminds me of something back home in Portland. But it seems in Europe they take great pride in the quality of the food, how organic it is, as well as how it satisfies the customer. Some of this food was also grown in their own farm so I guess you could consider it farm to table. I would definitely return and I'm looking forward to coming back and visiting again. Perfect brunch spot! Dela had great reviews so was excited to try their food. We just got in from Cliffs of Moher and we're starving. My husband got the burrito without the jalapeños and added bacon. Came here one evening as I really wanted to try this restaurant so we came in for dinner, to our surprise everything was extremely overly expensive (Over €20 for most meals) and mainly vegetarian/ pescatarian based meals (my favourite) but my partner wasn't impressed with the menu as he is a big meat eater, so we both settled for soup as it was the cheapest on the menu (around €6) I really wanted to give Dela another chance though so we decided to go for breakfast and i'm so so happy we did. It was the best breakfast I've ever had in Galway! I got the Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon which was super delicious. The breakfast/brunch menu is a lot more appealing than the dinner menu with better price range. I will definitely be returning to try more from the breakfast menu as everything on it looked so delicious it was hard to choose! The coffee was also super tasty and smooth. We came here on a Tuesday night while in Galway for my moms 60th birthday. The menu isn't large, but each dish is clearly mastered and uses superb flavors. Since there were 6 of us, we tried just about everything on the menu - none of us were disappointed. The restaurant itself has a great vibe - kind of homey and warm. Came across this restaurant by chance and I was very impressed! The food was to a high standard, all staff were friendly and helpful and it's nicely decorated and airy. I was also very happy that there were several creative vegetarian options on the menu, which is often not given as much thought as meat dishes in other establishments.
