When we first arrived, we were impressed by the location above the cliffs and the amazing views from the hotel. However, when were arrived at the reception we were given a rather cold welcome by the gentleman behind the desk. We had arrived by taxi and we are a younger couple so we got the initial vibe he gave us was that this hotel was above us. Once he saw that we did indeed have a reservation he became a little bit more friendly. After check in we were told that our bags would be brought to our rooms, however 30 minutes later, no bags. I went back to the lobby to find them right where we left them with no one in sight. Since it was our honeymoon, the hotel did make it up with a complimentary bottle of champagne.
Once in the room, we had excellent views and the room and bathroom were clean. The bed was very comfortable. There is a salt water pool next to the sea and a rocky beach which you have to take an elevator through the cliff to get to which was pretty cool.
The catch is, the hotel is far from town and you have to take their shuttle to get there which is limited and you have to get to the reception early to reserve a seat. If not, its 15 Euro via taxi. There is a cable car, but it is quite a walk to get to. There is nothing within walking distance to the hotel. If you plan on staying at the hotel for any extended time, be prepared to spend some money. Food and beverages by the pool and beach are expensive and the food is not that good. There are two restaurants one of which we tried by the sea which was very good, except when you get the bill, which was about 150 Euros. At the end of the first night, we went to the piano bar which has excellent views of the coast, but the service was lacking on this evening. We sat for about 15 minutes with no waiter in sight. I had to go to the bar where the bartender took my order but said the waiter would bring it, which he did, and we did not see him again until I returned to the bar where he was chatting with the bartender. When I asked for my check, he gave me an evil stare and muttered something in Italian which I would guess wasn't too positive. There is a complimentary breakfast buffet, which has a wide variety of breakfast items.
Overall, I would not stay here again. It has a four star status but with the service we got it was more 2-3 star. read more
