They also carry a number of jarred items (honey, molasses, pickles, jams, sauces) as well as locally raised meats and I enjoyed going aisle by aisle looking my through their inventory I was also happy to see that they carry a number of gluten free items, including flour and pastas that I'm able to find at my local grocery store. I also loved that they have fresh baked breads and desserts, as well as sandwiches to order to go (didn't try any on this visit, but they looked excellent online!). I did pick up a bit of their jalapeño beef jerky which wasn't super tough like jerky sometimes is and also was super salty, which was appreciated. The staff seemed friendly and ready to help. Across from the store is a bbq spot with seating and I'll be sure to visit there on my next visit. The ONLY reason why I couldn't give a 5-star review this time is I had a very hard time finding the prices on a number of items (especially in their freezer/refrigerated sections). It made it a bit inconvenient and I didn't want to keep going up to the counter to check the costs each time. Other than that, I'd highly recommend a visit!

Today Caskey Orchards of San Marcos set up a booth at the Sunset Valley Farmer's Market in the SW corner next to Boxer Rescue (where I help out) and gave us some of their "ready to eat NOW" discounted peaches and let me just say these peaches are so juicy you need a bib to eat them delicious mess! I grew up in East Texas on a farm that always had juicy peaches in the backyard. Biting into my juicy peach from Caskey's with juice running down my arm had me reliving memories of biting into a juicy peach straight off the tree as a kid. Oh, it made me happpY!!!

I stopped at one of the stands spoke to a younger guy and asked him to please find me the sweetest one they have doesn't matter the size. He went and picked the biggest one... meanwhile I was having a chat with the lady at the same stand. I asked her again will that be a sweet one? I guess she felt bad and told the guy that it will be pink inside... she went and picked me another one herself. The one she picked was a winner! The store sits on high ground just above the "pecan bottom" on the Guadalupe River, consisting of 2700 pecan trees planted in 1958. Compare their shelled pecans to those found in the supermarkets and you will likely see the difference between this year's crop and those from last year--for me the difference was worth the trip. I do think some of the instructions might be overwhelming/confusing to someone if it's busy or you're in a hurry and just skim over them, but I get why they have their process and it probably helps with efficiency, avoiding damage/contamination, and keeping costs to a minimum, which benefits the customer because their prices are phenomenal. I will happily follow some hand written directions when the result is I can fill my entire garden bed for less than a hundred dollars, yes please. I love the selection of native plants. I love supporting a local business vs a big box store. I love that the owners are knowledgeable and obviously care deeply about what they do. Def worth checking out soon! As a first-time customer, we had no means of knowing that the outdoor plants shouldn't be brought inside for purchase. There was no clear signage or anything on the door that would help guide us to where we needed to go or the process to check out. We didn't appreciate how snappy Angie got with us when we made the mistake of bringing the items indoors for purchase. I had also grabbed a few items that were reserved for other customers (again no clear signage or roping was used to differentiate the areas where reserved items and up for sale items were). Again, we got a bit of a scolding from the owner because of this honest mistake. I believe with more clear signage and directions for new customers, a lot of this confusion can be avoided to help make it a better shopping experience for all. Ultimately though sales is not only about what you have to sell, but how you sell it.

I live in Blanco, so I was hoping for a small place just to get some housesitting provisions diet soda, frozen pizza, and some chips. I pleasantly found Arlan's Market. I loved the art deco style store, and when I walked in it transported me to the old stores i would go to with my Abuela. I was pleasantly surprised with all the offers and choices. I loved the meat market and the choices of all the different snacks, but we found the deli and were amazed. The store felt like I had been going there for years. The employees were nice and attentive. I couldn't stop raving about it. My father in law started going there since and he loves the meat packs and all the choices there. It reminds him of the small grocery stores in New England. If you are in the area I definitely stopping by for a quick bite and an outstanding shopping experience. We definitely got some mexican pastries on our way out.
