As a little background, I work in sales and I have for several years now. I can't tell you how much I despise the slicked-hair salesmen routine when you can tell the guy will tell you anything just to get you to buy the guitar. On the opposite side of that, it's awesome when you find someone who has a true passion for what they are selling. The later is what you'll find at Uncle Ike's. I'm not sure who the name of the gentleman was who helped me (I think it might have been Kevin?), but he was an older guy but boy does he love guitars. I should briefly digress and say that I wrote to their email address online, and heard back from them *within an hour*. Talk about awesome customer service! As I was telling him a bit about what I was looking for, he armed me with a TON of knowledge about each guitar we looked at. He took me through the very basics of what features of the guitars differentiate the pricing, and then gave me a ton of background of the companies. His knowledge seemed endless. He knew where every guitar factory was, what kind of guitars come out of there, what era each guitar was popular in, and so on. He was completely content to talk to me for almost an hour going over everything. One of my favorite things was that he couldn't seem to keep his hands off the guitars! Every time he was talking about one, he would pull it down, jam out on it just a little bit while we were talking to give me an idea of the sound. He never once asked about my price range or anything, and seemed more interested in teaching me about guitars in general which was great. I could have been a well-informed buyer anywhere I went after I stopped into Uncle Ike's, but of course I wanted to take my business there. It's rare to find a great salesperson in most places, but certainly go to Uncle Ike's if you're interested in finding the right guitar. I bought a 1979 Marshall amp from Uncle Ike's. Their service was stellar! It was packed very carefully, they even removed the tubes and packed them separately to ensure they would arrive safely. And the amp is a killer! A real vintage tone machine ! I am very very pleased with my buying experience with Uncle Ike and would buy from them again in a heartbeat !!! read more

I purchased a fender guitar stand online, very reasonably priced with free shipping. When I received the stand, put it together and hung a guitar I immediately noticed something was out of kilter. The bend at the top of the stand had been manufactured about ten or twelve degrees off center. So the guitar hung wrong over the padded leg area. Maybe I'm too picky but I expect a quality product from Fender! I called the store and spoke to a very nice sales rep, he said he would check the other Fender stands to see if he had a good one but called back and said they were all like that and offered to send me a shipping label to return it for a refund. I agreed to do that and sent it back the next day. When I got my refund, it was only for 12 bucks! I called the store and spoke to another sales rep who said it was their policy to charge shipping for both directions on returns! I said "but the item is defective" Then he re-stated the store policy about three times about screwing the customer. So after getting nowhere I gave up. Be careful to read any fine print if you buy online from these crooks!!! read more

I rented speakers from Uncle Ike's for my wedding in Galena, IL. They were delivered and set up on Friday and dismantled and removed on Sunday morning. Kevin handled delivery and pickup and did it quickly and neatly. He tested the sound system with our laptops and it worked great! Overall it was an easy rental experience. read more
