To my first London Thanksgiving dinner a friend of the host brought a bottle of 2008 Rochioli Pinot Noir. I liked the wine from this Russian River Valley outfit so much I asked him where he purchased it and he told me "Uncorked near Liverpool Street station" at which point I promptly bookmarked it on Yelp.
From my description, the chap behind the counter knew exactly what I was after and called the wine I wanted "slutty." I think, were I in the wine business, I'd probably become enamored with describing wines that way too. I mean, just how many times can you say: smoky, oaky, mellow, astringent, firm, round or soft without reaching for something a little more exciting?
