This is a store that sells stylish shoes for people who have developed a variety of back, leg and foot problems, i.e. us old geezers. My wife and I fall into that category plus we both have problems getting shoes that fit comfortably , especially when walking. I'm particularly hard to fit because of a leg brace that requires one shoe to be larger than another. Shoe Comfort had styles we liked and, more importantly, had the brand of shoe that had seen me through ten years of overseas and domestic trips, delivering Meals on Wheels and daily use. We found the size that fit the braced foot, so the owner worked for half an hour to put together the proper combination of inserts to make the other shoe fit. When we got home, my wife found that one pair she bought was slightly tight after walking around the house for half an hour. She returned with that pair, explained the problem and the staff went through the same routine for her to make one size fit comfortably. There was no charge for the inserts and the staff were pleasant while providing after-sales service (rare in retail). I should mention that our visit to Shoe Comfort took place during the pandemic. The store provided hand sanitizer at the door and a cheerful reminder to use it before poking around. Capacity was limited to four people and the four chairs were neatly socially distanced. As soon as a customer left, the chairs were sanitized and, as soon as we left, the owner cleaned he outside door handles. I have never seen such impressive measures, especially in a smaller store. We can't be the only people in Edmonton who have problems fitting shoes. To all the others out there like us, we found the place to go.

I wasn't able to check it out that early but when I arrived around 10:30, there was a steady stream of people coming in and out of the store. When I entered, I was given a water bottle (one side of the label had DSW and the other said 'I'm a shoe lover') and candy bag with white mint, red berries and licorice, and black licorice. What an unique and fun way to show off their colours! I haven't been to a DSW before, and wow! I was impressed with the layout of the store. It's big and bright. From the left wall, it starts with rows of ladies' dress shoes (lots of pumps to look and choose from), sandals, casual, running shoes, and men's selection, which isn't as big as the ladies. The shoes are nicely displayed with the price (and suggested price) to show the savings. Under the shoe are the boxes organized and sizes easy to spot. If the store was crowded, I could imagine the aisles getting congested with people bending over to find their size and people walking by. There didn't seem to be many stools to sit on for trying on though. Just to the right of the front entrance is a wall and display of purses. It's not a large selection and I wasn't aware of all the brands but did see Nine West and Kenneth Cole bags. At the back of the store are the clearance racks. They are organized by size and they have a coloured sticker on the box. Each colour represents a percentage off the price of the shoes ranging from 20-70% off! There were good names including Skechers, Ivanka Trump, and Clarks. There's also a wall of purses that are discounted too! Not only do they sell shoes, but have a great selection of socks, and scarves. Next time you are looking for a pair or two of shoes, check this place out!

At the back is the clearance area which is sorted by sizes, here you will find all types of shoes marked down by coloured dots indicating a discount from 20 to 70 percent off! There is also a selection of purses. All you see is women's shoes in the rest of the store! Ranging from fancy dancy great for a wedding or grad shoes to going to the beach sandals of runners for the gym. There is more than one color in the same style. You can see the sample shoe and then help yourself to find your size, the boxes are located under each shoe on display. There are sales people on the floor but no one is harassing you while you shop. I would give five stars however the three times I have purchased something, the line is very slow. There were two cashiers with customers and they should have called another one. The shoes we're really that fashionable or that attractive, except for maybe a few of the flats. But Mephisto's focus is not on fashion; it's on comfort. Most of their shoes are for walking, hiking, or good for work. The prices were outrageous though. A pair of flats were $200-$300 dollars, and most of the other shoes were in this range. I noticed some of the shoes were made in Portugal, and the leather was super soft. They indeed felt like they'd be very comfortable. They had men's and women's shoes, and they also sold a few shirts and coats, but only for men. These were really expensive too. A button-up long sleeved shirt was $150, and one a corduroy coat was $400! I don't think I'll ever be back here, but I think if you have money and are looking for a comfortable shoe, you might want to check it out.

Their Black Friday sale was on early and it was 20% off. They only had one pair in my size and the sales associate was quick to help and get the other boot for me to try on. I asked if they had any other purple boots and she showed me another pair. She was helpful and friendly. The boots were comfortable inside and also good grip for walking and I was glad they fit well. I asked her to put them on hold for a few hours and she said she would until the end of the day. I went back to get them and asked about the return policy. Even though they're on sale, she said I would have 14 days to exchange or get a store credit. I'll check them out again when they have their next sale, likely Boxing Day as they have some great selection of high quality boots and shoes.
