However, in 2018 I noticed a dip in the floor around the refrigerator. I made calls to companies who had originally done the foundation and insulation work, with no response. I reached out to several other contractors that worked in my area. They either did not show up or told me to just keep an eye on the problem. Then I got in touch with J&M Remodeling. One of the owners, Jeff Braswell, came to review the issues. Jeff was very professional from the start. After a thorough assessment he had some not so good news. The prior work that was done was only to cover up rotten foundation beams. Insulation was sprayed over rotten beams. I had paid to just have problems covered up not repaired. It was an expensive lesson, but I feel so fortunate to have found Jeff and his team do the repairs. The floor and foundation had to be replaced. Once they started, they found several other issues that he suggested we take care of before they would become a problem, which I agreed. Walls and studs needed to be replaced. Their knowledge, professionalism and craftsmanship amazed me. But it was more than that, that impressed me. They all went out of their way and added special touches to put this project over the top. They moved light switches to more convenient heights, they painted areas of the house they didn't even work in to make sure everything matched and blended in. Everything was seamless. My house was cleaner after they finished that it ever was before the remodel. As a senior citizen, I need people and companies I can rely upon. I feel as if that is what I found in J&M Remodeling. The company has reached out with apologies and statements about how they have changed their procedure. So, while our experience was not positive, I hope that the changes have made them better to work with and more timely and customer focused. *** It's a real shame. The actual work is beautiful. However, it took months to get the job done. And... so many lies. We are weekenders and weren't there to keep a constant eye on them. They trashed our yard and hill and deck. They left all the debris and lied about it being removed to get their final payment. I don't think we heard an honest word from them. They take smoke breaks every five minutes and leave the butts all over. Stairs to our dock... in just four and a half months. Ha. Plus the extra money to clean up their mess. Don't do it. A week later still no return phone call so called again and left another message. Another week goes by and finally I get a return phone call from them. Otis comes out and evaluates the job. He said that he'll send a bid by Friday. No bid received by noon on Friday so I called again and left a message for him about my bid. Now it's been three weeks since coming out and still no bid. I hired a different company to do the job today. American wasted my time.

American Sun Control recently installed locking pool gates around a pool we've built. A couple…read moreweeks after the install I noticed that our 3-year-old son was able to open the gate, even when locked with a key. I called American Sun Control and spoke with Steve. He said he'd take care of the issue, but after several weeks stop returning my calls. I then spoke with Pam (the manager) who informed me that the gates were working fine, but my 3 year old wasn't using it properly. I insisted that the sole purpose of a locked gate is to keep a 3 year old out, if it doesn't do that, the gate doesn't work. Pam became very unprofessional, telling me to keep a better eye on my kids and that when she had young children she, directly quoting her ... "I watched my kids". I can't believe the unprofessional ism I just experienced with American Sun Control's staff and management. I can, to some degree, understand/accept poor quality products and shoddy work but to insult a father who has been trying for OVER A MONTH with repeated unanswered, unreturned phone calls to make sure his locked gate keeps his 3 year old safe is totally unacceptable.
