As there were rain storms in the forecast Jon contacted me and asked to come out the next afternoon. He arrived and worked late into the evening and got the job done. I wanted a spare key and fob for my Silverado. I called around and choose Skeltons because they are local and I like to support local small businesses. He had me come in a week later to get the key made and fob programmed to my truck. After waiting way too long to have a key made he finally ran out of blanks and failed to make a usable key. So I returned a week later to get the key made...I will add every time I set up a time to meet him at his store I had to call after I arrived as he was never there and I would have to wait for him to show up. So he finally handed me a key and I left. The next time I drove my truck (not my daily driver) the key fob failed to unlock my truck and when I tried the key, that worked to start the truck, it would not unlock the door. I was near the auto parts store and replaced the battery in the fob and was able to get in my truck. I contacted him and made arrangements to meet him at his store. I told him during this meeting that "if this thing is going to eat a battery per month I don't want it!" and he agreed by saying "yes sir". He couldn't make a new key as he ran out of blanks again. He told me to check later and he would replace the key. I contacted him a month later and he had the blanks and we set a time and day. He didn't show and I had to call him. This time instead of coming he stated he would come by my work later and make the new key. When he showed up I gave him the original key to copy and the key fob stating it failed again and I want a refund and I went back in to work. He called saying he finish. I went back out. He handed me the key and fob and said he replaced the battery and he jumped in his truck and left. Well the very next time I tried to use the key fob it was dead. At this point the key fob worked maybe 5 times and had 3 batteries in it. I called to arrange the return of the faulty product. He asked my name and a few minutes later he mumbled something I couldn't understand and hung up on me. Then would not answer the phone when I called back several times.

His "sales pitch" to avoid giving an estimate before starting work was a big failure on my part. Rickey comes in acting like a good guy and quickly running through numbers but not giving a written estimate. He states that it depends on how much of his wonderful product will need to be used. With that being said he did a section of my driveway for his high end verbal guestimate. It was ridiculous to have argue with a guy (good guy Tom disappeared) over his poor choice to not give me a written estimate and paint a picture of a more reasonable cost and for me to have sticker shock at the new price he quoted for just the section. I am disappointed with myself for not requiring a written estimate but I never thought that he would maneuver the price for the whole driveway to be 2-2.5 times more than his buddy-to-buddy verbal estimate. I cannot recommend Mr. Rickey's Asphalt (his team was very nice) but I would recommend being careful of any professional that can't give a written estimate and then stand by it.
