They are situated on the river and are close by Cataract Gorge (DO NOT MISS CATARACT GORGE) The rooms are modern, but the set up is a little awkward (you need your card key twice: First to access the entryway that services two rooms; Second to get into your actual room)-can you imagine my poor neighbours if I had stumbled in drunk? (Oh wait, I DID stumble in drunk-hope I didn't disturb anyone!) The service is personal and very friendly and makes this feel like a small hotel. It is probably the most modern hotel in Launnie and very comfortable so I would highly recommend it if you're visiting the area.

Quite a scrum. =/- So So shower pressure Maybe a little street noise came in, but we also like fresh air. PROS Great Location Friendly and Helpful Front Desk and Bar Staff. Mornings 1 and 3 at Breakfast were much better, except for maybe the coffee line. Breakfast offerings were pretty good. Our bed was clean and comfortable, there was plenty of room, adequate desk space was available, and the WiFi was pretty good.

However, when we tried to check in, the woman at the front desk got the same information checked us in I thought and then as I turned to walk away said do you want the second room as well? I looked at her and said what part of a single reservation with two rooms under my name. Did you miss? She goes well. Sometimes people show up later I said. Oh no! She's out in the car watching our stuff so it took more than twice as long as it should have and I didn't really feel like she cared at the inconvenience she was causing. All I can say is if you stay here, the rooms are clean, comfortable and quiet. But there's a high probability. You may not get a terribly intelligent person at the front desk

The rooms were spacious, the amenities were great (full kitchen, bbq area, comfortable beds, seating areas). The rooms had solid brick between the walls, reducing sounds from neighboring suites and nearby road noise. My only gripe was the dusty smell in the bed spread. I didn't want to turn the heater on, so I needed the extra blanket for warmth. I wish I had brought my sanitizing spray with me so that I could douse the bed in that. Oh well. My immune system lived to tell the tale. All up, we booked 3 suites using hotels.com. My room was the deluxe, which had a twin (single) bed and a queen, and we had my husband and I with our baby and preschooler. My sister had an apartment room, with her 2 young boys in the bedroom (bunk beds + queen bed), and she and her husband in the lounge room on the queen bed in there with their baby in a bassinet. My parents had the standard room which just had a queen bed. Great access to local attractions - about an hour to Cradle Mountain, 30 minutes to Mole Creek Caves, and about 30 minutes to Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm.

Modern décor surrounded our king size bed - much of it exclusive to the hotel (you'll love the window blind!). The ceiling is probably 12ft high, and the ensuite quite roomy. The hotel now has in-room free wi-fi as well as cabled broadband. The lobby and restaurant/lounge are compact, but classy and well looked after by the staff. Hotel Charles is located a short walk South of the CBD on a plot previously part of the Hospital. It shares many of its parking spots with a number of businesses during the day, so there are signs reserving spaces for hotel guests only from 5:30pm to 8:30am. If you can only get one of those spaces when you arrive, the obligation to shift would be a downside of your stay.

Perfect for families or other groups! We spent two nights in Cottage 1 (2 bedroom), and found it spacious and comfortable. The furnishings are beautiful and solid, and the story of the cottages is pretty neat. I'm glad they were rescued from neglect! Everything was clean. The service station clerks were very, very friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome. There is a lot to do in the area (for rural Tasmania) and these cottages are in a nice, quiet location well positioned for exploring Mole Creek, Elisabethtown, Latrobe, etc.

Tons of closet space/ a comfortable sofa/ large bathroom. Very clean as well. My only complaint is that there is no lift! The reception had offered to carry our luggage up to our room but on a day when you come back from hours of hiking, the last thing you want is the further aggravate your knees from climbing the stairs to your room.

Also nice to have a big bathtub and a little brick patio out back to relax in after a long day. There is also a good Indian restaurant, Pickled Evenings, just down the hill near the driveway entrance. If you are coming during the cooler months, do bring a bathrobe and warm pajamas though as the suite can get quite chilly. There is a space heater, but still. Also, I wish there had been an information sheet in the room - I arrived late and so was not able to jump on the wifi until someone could tell me the password the following day. I also did not realize until the end of my stay that the bed had an electric blanket underneath the sheet, which would have been great to know earlier. Breakfast is ok, just some eggs, toast, and cereal - but the view from the dining room is quite lovely.
