I am extremely disappointed by the lack of accessibility and the dismissive attitude of the staff. As a handicapped person, I arrived to find a large trailer parked across both designated handicap spots, completely blocking access. When I pointed this out, the staff told me it was "okay" because they "wouldn't be there long." A handicap spot is not a loading zone, and "not being there long" doesn't change the law or the impact on those of us who actually need those spots. To have staff prioritize a trailer over the legal accessibility needs of their customers is incredibly rude. I won't be back. read more

There have been issues with at least one drawer on every single item I have purchased very soon after purchase. Wow! What an amazing shop I stumbled upon! The employees were all so friendly and helpful! The minute I walked in, I was greeted warmly and asked if they could help with anything. All of the different rooms are decorated and there is a surprise around every corner! Whatever you may be looking for, I'm sure you'll find it here. My antiquing adventures continue. This time I was in the town of Shingle Springs, CA. Under the Arbor shop was a bit hidden from the road. As I was walking to the front doors, the decorative iron arbors framing the walkway immediately caught my attention. They provide a focal point for the front patio section where they sell garden and outdoor home decor, arbors, patio furniture, and plants. My tip for first timers is to pace yourself. There is tons more inside to see and buy. From the exterior, the shop looks deceivingly smaller than what it actually is. As I walked into the shop interior, my mood immediately lightened and my interest level shot up to 100%. Besides being immediately greeted, the visuals throughout were gorgeous. The design displays were modern and stylish. Visually stunning. Very IG worthy. Speaking about IG, the shop's handle is underthearbor. For folks that may not know what I mean by IG worthy, it translates to front cover/main article pictorial spread of a magazine. Interspersed with the consigned furniture for sale was new home decor items. They were all beautifully displayed in a thoughtful organized way. For instance, they had items displayed as rooms in a house. Kitchen, library, living room, dining room, bedroom, etc. Each room had its own style like modern industrial, bohemian chic, Victorian, and farmhouse. Prices for the antiques are on par and competitive. There are plenty of new home decor and accent items as well. The new items are priced at points similar to the big box retailers. They make great gift items. Items include kitchen towels, candles, soaps, vases, and pillows. Plus they have a women's boutique selling new clothes, purses, jewelry, and accessories. Very on trend boho styles. The styles and fit are geared for the youngins'. Not to say middle aged gals like myself can not wear them. read more

During the 2025 holiday season I shopped local as much as possible. I have shopped at Under the Arbor consistently over the last six years, including purchasing several pieces of furniture from them. I have always been pleased with my purchases and never thought to review their return policies. A couple days ago I purchased a gift that turned out to be a duplicate gift. It was a wind chime that was mass produced and can be purchased via the web for slightly less expensive. Today I returned to Under the Arbor to return the chime and shop their after Christmas sale. The young man at the sales counter politely explained that they have a no return policy for non defective items. I commented that I was unaware of the policy and was surprised that it was not posted at the point of sale. (I later reviewed their web site and couldn't locate any return policy information.) At that time a older unpleasant man snapped at me "its printed on your receipt" several times. Ok, but does it make sense to only advise customers of your return policy AFTER they have already made their purchase? I will skip Under the Arbor for my future purchases and continue to share my less than stellar customer service experience with friends. read more

This store is great. There is so much labor going into these pieces because they are all wood. It's hard to ask for discounts in this economy, however I am a perfectionist and drawers not sliding easy is a big pet peeve. Store was okay. There was a male/female appearing couple who looked like customers who kept moving furniture and merchandise around the back of the store during business hours. They were in the way, and I kept trying to look around. Very cold feeling and not the most welcoming. Even one of the ladies at the front "joked" that she likes to stare. Wow! I'm really excited we got to go to Under the Arbors's sale! I'm going to focus on talking about their "Under $10" sale mostly, because I was there for the deal! Let me start by saying that everyone had the same idea as me! It was packed!! Both with people and great deals! When you get to Under the Arbor, there's a space outdoor to the right for all the "under $10" deals. It was a small space full of great fins! I picked up a decorate garden stake, something I can't describe that I plan on crafting into something, while my parents got a pot holder, some small bunny statues for the garden, and a few other items all for great deals. Everything went quick! We walked the rest of the place - inside and out - and came back to the deal area. In a half hour it was less packed, but lots has been sold! I was just happy to come back around with it less crowded. Everything inside and out was really neat! A lot of it was out of my current budget, especially knowing the sale! With that in mind, maybe another time I can come back to lay for some of the regular-priced items, but for now I'm coming just for the deals! (I almost didn't want to post this review, so it doesn't become too popular that I miss out on the great items!) ;) read more

There isn't an Under The Arbor Placerville store setup on Yelp yet, but that is the location I visited today along with my baby and husband. Very, very cute shop, but immediately upon entering we felt unwelcome - maybe because as a pretty heavily tattooed, Harley Davidson T-shirt, bandana-mask wearing couple, we didn't look like their typical clientele, but we were not greeted when we came in the door. In fact, we said hello to the man and woman at the counter and received a cold stare in return. We came specifically to look at some vintage globes that were featured on the Under The Arbor Instagram page so when we went inside I asked where we might find them. The woman at the front desk hesitantly pointed us in the direction of said globes, the man behind the counter with her didn't acknowledge us at all. I felt like the prices were very reasonable and the shop catered to many different styles of decor. We purchased a globe and complimented the shop, but hardly got a response back. It was only after I inquired about the online store and other location that the woman seemed somewhat interested in interacting with us, asking if we wanted to join the loyalty club, aka trying to make a future sale. Bummed because I'd love to support a local shop, especially during this difficult time for small businesses, however I probably won't go back because of our negative experience. It's easier to shop online and not feel judged or like my presence was unwanted. read more

This is a wonderful store to find both indoor and outdoor decor items. I have been shopping here since they opened and it has only gotten better with time. There are many different decor styles represented, so one can always find something to buy. I haven't been to the Placerville store, but will be going soon. Well worth the trip to Shingle Springs, or better yet, stop on your way to/from South Lake Tahoe or Apple Hill. read more

We have purchased many items from this store and really enjoy walking through it weekly as the inventory is always changing. They will generally take at least 15% off if you ask. Best kept secret in Shingle Springs. This store has a wide variety of vintage, refurbished, quirky, and recycled home decor items for both indoor and outdoor. This is a cute place for both indoor and outdoor decor. They seem to have more brand new items in the mix than they used to (I'm a fan of real vintage however), but expanding and offering an increased selection to appeal to a wider audience, is a good business practice. The prices are notably not as low as they were before the expansion and the clearance sales haven't been nearly as good as they were in the begining either, but they have had good overall growth. My own personal taste would not be to slap paint on most every piece of furniture on display, but I do acknowledge that there is a strong market for the shabby style that they specialize in. I wish they did have more true Antiques with original finishes, but again, that's just my own personal taste. It's a cute store that has improved with the adding of a few new vendors, but the flip side is that is also that it seems less quaint, less warm and more impersonal to me too. It's a good place to buy gifts or look to decorate your house, especially if you like the painted look on wood furniture. Being someone who prefers Antique character and patina, this is not my first choice for my own personal home purposes, but rather for me it's a fine place to find nice gifts. I would opt to stop here before venturing down to Bidwell in Folsom on the hunt for gifts. read more
