Avoid it at all costs. Do not buy or rent from these people. The prices are robbery, the rentals are due back before your finals are even over and they tell you to get books teachers don't want you to get and then charge you for them. They do not ever respond to emails or rarely pick up the phone. The entire establishment is a stain upon the reputation of The law school. I ordered a few things online for my kids last Christmas. I had a hard time finding items in youth sizes anywhere else. When they arrived, the most expensive item, a hoodie, had visible mustard marks on it. (As a follow up, they resisted any stain removal attempts and are permanent). Do not go to the UNH bookstore. They have the highest prices on textbooks, and are terrible communicators. Twice they have been out of stock of a textbook I needed (including one I preordered!) and were not very helpful about it. I had the experience of pre-ordering a book (as they recommended), then having it not arrive on time. They said they had just sold out their shelf copies. Wait....I pre-ordered and paid and you got in stock of the books and did not contact me or reserve one for me? Well, they said they would have the book by the begining of next week (Monday). It was Wednesday, so I figured I could survive. Monday, no book. Tuesday, no book. Wednesday I cancel the pre-order and bought the book at the Durham Book Exchange (which is a great store). I noticed that my card had not been refunded, so I figured that will happen eventually. Wednesday, the next week I get a telephone call that the book is in. I explain the situation and they just keep telling me that the book I ordered is in. So I thank the employee and come in in person to resolve this. I was told that (contrary to what I was informed on my last visit) it was impossible to cancel an order. After a lot of attempts to sell me this book that I patiently explained I no longer had any use for two weeks into the semester, I started an "ok what can we work out here" conversation. The employee just chastised me about "poor planning" (I pre ordered....). Ok, she must be having a bad day. I just tell her I am not interested in buying the book. "You already did when you pre-ordered". She then starts trying to hand me this book. "ok, well I would like to return this book" I have not even touched this book, but a refund is impossible. Eventually when I start threatening to call my bank and call fraud she agrees to give me store credit only refund. I walked out of there with a Barnes and Noble gift card because getting a real refund was not worth dealing with these people a moment longer. So, terrible service, bad prices. You can get anything they have there cheaper downtown. read more

The UNH bookstore has a good selection and the staff is pretty helpful. Overall, reasonable prices.

What a rip off! Overcharged products and then when you try to sell back your books they only offer you 1/4 of what you paid, even when it is in like new condition still! read more

I would not even give them a star if that was possible. I would give the young kids working there 4 stars because they were very helpful and nice. The management however is a joke. My Son is a freshman and he went back to school on 1/26/16 which is a Tuesday. He was told to go to his classes to see what books he would need with the access code and then he would purchase his books which he did 2 and a half days later on Friday 1/29/16. We went in and paid almost 500.00 for books. We had a question about 1 book and asked the teller if we did not need it can we return it. She said as long as you have the receipt and the book is not opened.(still in it's plastic wrapping). We said great and left. Two business days later 2/2/16 we go to return the book because we didn't need it and Lorraine the manager I'm guessing would not refund our money. She said Friday was the last day to return these books when we didn't buy them until Friday??? No one in the store told us all sales were final that day also only that we could get a refund if the books were returned the way we bought them. How can the final day to return be 2 and a half days after the semester started when we were told to go to the class first and then buy?? She gave us 50.00 when we paid 118.00 for the book. You would think this genius would use her intelligence for once and would think if she took care of the customer maybe they would come back and spend another 500.00. The return policy said there was a 10% restocking fee. This is another joke because that is only 11.80 not the 68.00 she stole from us. She clearly is not the Owner because any good and decent business owner would never treat a customer the way she treated us! She was arrogant, rude and completely unprofessional. I have owned a business for 20 years and I know "THAT THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT"! Don't ever buy from the Durham Book Exchange unless you want to get ripped off and treated like an idiot. If I owned this store the idiot manager I dealt with would be fired!! And I will tell everyone I know not to shop there! read more

AVOID AT ALL COST On multiple occasions I have ordered books online with it saying the book is availabl e, only to find out that they do have the book, that it is on hold and I will have to wait 2-3 weeks for the book to come in. The first time it happened after 2 weeks of not getting a book I was then sent an email telling me that the book was on hold and I had to wait another 2-3 weeks for the book to come in. A second time I went into the store after ordering a book I was told was available to find when the book would arrive. I went over to the customer service desk to ask. As I was waiting the guy in front of me asked where he could find the book he was looking for and the lady he was talking to was incredibly rude to him; treating him like a five year old. After I asked the lady when my book would arrive to which the lady retorted "What did you order it Saturday night". I told her no the day before, and she then rudely asked me if I received two emails like I was some idiot. I told her no only one. She then presided to ask me again like I was oblivious. I responded no I had only received the confirmation email. She then told me to go over the pick up table.(she obviously didn't believe I had only gotten 1 email). I went over to the desk only to be told that the book was on hold and I'd have to go back to customer service(where I originally was). Once there I asked the guy there if I could find out when my book would arrive. He rudely responded to me "How am I suppose to know", like I was some kind of idiotic jerk. He then continued to ask me what the book name was, and then my name, before berating me about how he should know and then told me to go back to the pick up line, that it was their area. I then told him all I need to know is how long it normally takes, or a rough estimate of when it might come in. He told me UPS normally arrives at about noon.(again rudely) I then said thank you and went straight for the Durham Book Exchange where I was able to pick up the book in minutes and the book was cheaper. Oh ya, and the book did not arrive at noon that day(what a surprise). Avoid at all cost. read more
