Wasn't on a time schedule. I spent 2 hours in the store. Found beautiful baby lamb chops. Filets were $6/lb cheaper than my grocery store. Bought beautiful endive. Had to bring home the red wine peppered salami. Coming home, opening the cooler, and handing out foodie presents is like Christmas morning. The oohs and aahs were heard at multiple houses. The staff were very helpful finding my treasures. Wegmans trips make traveling for business worth it.

When they were out of green onions, a friendly worker was able to refill the bin quickly for me (and direct me to the spacious, clean bathrooms). They have tons of checkout lines, only a couple were open with humans; and they have lots of self-checkout too. I mean, it's just a grocery store, but it's a pretty good one!

The store associates sanitize the carts immediately when they are returned. There are also wipes located near the entrance and hand sanitizer. I liked that they control how many people enter the store. It allows for social distancing and makes you feel more comfortable shopping and looking at items before deciding whether to purchase or not. My friend had to speak with the manager about a previous purchase and the manager was very nice and accommodating.

Fast forward to me moving to Hershey for grad school from my delicate life surrounded by Trader Joe's, Sprouts, etc in the bosom of Orange County, CA and I was shocked, saddened, and defeated. This wonderful area that I now called home had two Trader Joe's "in my area", one being in Towson, MD and the other being in Philadelphia. Luckily, as I traveled back home to California during holidays, I'd be lucky enough to fly into and out of one of those airports so I'd make it a ritual to stop by TJs on my way home as long as I flew in before they closed. Still though, going to TJs once every few months isn't ideal. So imagine my delight when I'm driving to my clinical rotation site at State College, and what do I see - Trader mutha$#*in' JOE'S. I'm only up here for 5 weeks total, but I've gone here every single day so far. I've probably spent about $500 in the last four weeks. I love this place. It's exactly how Trader Joe's should be: bright, inviting, clean, and with an excellent selection of food and goods. Hell, even the staff is as jovial as the ones back home, which is proof that they have incredible system-wide hiring practices. If you're in the area, go to Trader Joe's. Just bask in the glory of the wonderful stuff that they have. Pro tip: if you're going to do one thing to elevate your charcuterie game, make it the herb-crusted Chèvre goat cheese and grab a jar or the hot and sweet pepper jelly. Crackers are your choice. Walmart Auto Center Benner pike is the worst. I was to have an oil change and they drained the…read moretransmission before catching it. They didn't replace the fluid and hide the fact that it happened. My transmission is now shot and is almost $7000.00 to have it rebuild. The manager and Team lead where both there when i picked up my car and didn't bother to tell me that there was a mishap on their part. This happened in may and I am still waiting for compensation. I asked if the insurance would pay for a rental car, which i was told i would have to send them a copy on the invoice. Keep in mind you can only rent a car for 30 days. I don't have the means to pay for a rental car and wait months to get reimbursed for it. Store manager Mike was no help at all when I contacted him, he told me it was an insurance issue. The compensation may be in insurance issue which i have options on them as well. The store manager should be responsible to the customer's complaint and address it, but he doesn't care. I have contacted Walmart Headquarters 3 times and was told i would be contacted, that's a joke because I have yet to hear from anyone.

There are many things worth noting about this store that are good. There was marginal mask wearing by the employees, about 50%, and about 25% by the customers. Both groups are thus inconsiderate, to themselves and to their customers, and to the related area. Mask wearing is a super easy way to reduce the spread and help us get back to work and play. It saddens me that in this somewhat christian area, known for its churches (many Mennonites work there, and Mennonites and Amish shop there, you can recognize them by their clothing and lack of mask), that they are not being kind, Christian, nor sensible. What would Jesus do? He would wear a bleeding mask. I did speak with the manager who noted that workers had been reprimanded. But within sight of us were two workers not wearing their mask close to correctly! One if left to ask, do they believe in food hygiene even, then? do they believe in food safety? If they won't follow some of the most necessary and visible public safety rules, what do they do when we are not looking? Do they "believe" in cold chain? Do they believe in the pathogen theory of disease? I guess I'll go back post pandemic, but I did lose a little faith in humanity in that the manager (the manager!) felt powerless to enforce public safety on her own employees. I cut my visit short, reported them to the PA Department of Health, and wrote this review. I will also have to be less sympathetic to groups of folks that do not support public health. I left sadly disappointed.

Aldi, generally speaking, is a cheaper grocery store with lots of good options for basics. They don't have everything (i.e. obscure ingredients for specific cuisines) but they have a lot of the basics and, my favorite, lots of cheaper options for some of my favorite items (popcorn chips, skyr, cookies, cheese, etc). This Aldi is super clean, they have lots of shopping carts available and a great big parking lot. The staff have been very friendly every time I've been (~once a week). The only complaint is it can be crowded at times with undergrads... so if you're like me, go in the mornings when they open or another time undergrads won't be likely to go. Other than that, this is a great place to save a few bucks and support something unlike the big blue monster (wally world). Bring your own bags!
