Not sure if it's in the background or the forefront, but this masterpiece is visually stunning no matter which angle you're seeing it at. Up close, you'll find white, green, and pink marbling along with ornate details, which just takes your breath away. Online, you'll find recs to climb up the dome, but expect to break a sweat! I was fortunate to stay just steps from the Florence Cathedral and got to see it both early in the morning and late at night--easily THE best times to experience this vision in all its glory. If you go late morning or in the afternoon, you'll spend more time pushing through crowds than actually appreciating the architecture.

Entering the cathedral is FREE. You just have to stand in a long line! I'd recommend getting there…read moreright when it opens to beat the massive crowds. Secure your tickets to see the Duomo in advance ONLINE and print out your tickets. Once you print out the tickets in advance you can bypass the lines like super quickly!!!! There's still a lot of people ahead of you and behind you, but there was NO waiting in lines! There's tons of workers that can guide you! Backpacks are a BIG no no! You can leave your bags for FREE with your ticket. They give you a key with a number on it and when you return back you simply give back the keys. The day that I went, tickets were ALL sold out a month in advance which is crazy because people are hoping to get in the day of, but you can't! The ticketing office had to turn away so many people. By the ticketing office, you will find restrooms to use. Unfortunately, there is a fee to use. They accept credit card. If you get the Brunelleschi pass (which I did!) you can go to the museum! Inside the museum, you can use the restroom for free only if you scan in! I'd definitely recommend securing the Brunelleschi pass and bring a bottle of water and comfortable shoes as you will be walking a lot of steps. It's not impossible as I saw many elderly people do it!

Besides being a normal bar to have…read morea coffee cappuccino, they also host many events like reselling goods, weekly dances (usually for the older crowd's) and the occasional food festival like tortellini and wild boar. also during the weekend they have a pizzeria above where the food is very affordable and decent. While its not the 'fanciest' place is the world - it does the job and does it well. Keeping me filled with coffee, bus tickets and the occasional wonderful food festival. Don't be deterred by the sometimes creepy clientele hanging out by the front door, some people really have nothing better to do than that. By the way Sorgane is known to have been a 'public housing' neighborhood but it has dramatically changed in the past two decades. It is safe and despite the strange looks when I tell people I live there, its actually a great place to live besides the soviet style apartment blocks.

If you're coming from the historical section of Florence and significantly uphill, it is definitely worse as part of a stop there's a church, the Piazza Michelangelo and other must visit Saitz are all with an easy walking distance once you make the truck up here If you start off early, grab some bread, grab some salumi some cheese bottle of wine and have a lunch in this gorgeous setting.

The square is large and vibrant, stacked with priceless statues and the giant Neptune Fountain. Michelangelo's David lived in the piazza for centuries before moving indoors to the Galleria dell'Accademia, and you can see a smaller replica on the original site. The piazza surrounds the Palazzo Vecchio, its physical and spiritual centerpiece. The building is cool and distinctive, topped by a crenellated tower. It's Florence's town hall, and the piazza the city's town square. You don't have to try very hard to see the Piazza della Signoria. I'm actually not sure we ever went on purpose. Make sure not to miss it, though, if you're a tourist visiting Florence. It's an amazing place, essential to the city's history.

Fair warning, the entrance isn't very clearly marked. It looks just like a business front and I was confused as to how entering the park would actually work. I didn't do much research (which is a shock I know) into this garden before coming and was a bit daunted by the uphill climb. From the entrance, I assumed there would be a funicular or something. I was wrong. Not only am I not in shape, but I've been having some medical issues, and I was terrified I just paid an entrance fee to a park that I cannot check out. Luckily, the switchbacks are super gentle. We could hardly "feel" walking up this hill. There was also a lot to look at as we walked up so it was really a beautiful "hike." We were confused a bit by the signs and how far the garden went up. We weren't the only ones either because two couples past us while we rested on a bench, wondering if they were going the "right way" as well. I was expecting a bit more "garden" but got more "trees and shrubs" but I think this place is worth the hike just for the views of Florence alone.

Wow, the view is totally worth the climb. Make sure you check the sunset time and get there 15-30…read moremins beforehand, as there is a good 10-15min climb from the base to the top. If you want to get a nice vantage point for pics, definitely go 30-60mins beforehand. They have a cafe where you can get drinks (lots of people got beers) and nab a nice spot to sit and watch the sunset while impressing your date. There's also a set of stairs that faces the Ponte Vecchio but lots of people are already camped there for sunset, so plan accordingly. We came on a random Tues night and there was a band playing crowd pleasing songs.
