If I could give zero stars I would. Had two appointments scheduled. They called me twice to reschedule to earlier appointments while I was away. I called three days before my appointment to cancel because I was having surgery that day for a broken wrist. I had to cancel next appointment due to COVID. When I called to reschedule they didn't call back. When I called again they said they dropped me because I had two late cancellations. Never spoke of this policy or let me know. This office was recommended by a friend so i was hopeful, as my experience with counseling in the Capital Region has been difficult. Over a 3 month period, i asked tor a male therapist in the Niskayuna location. they then attempt to provide a female therapist. Callback, they say they have a male in Saratoga, no thank you. 3rd callback, okay male in Niskayuna office. Appt set. this is now about 2 months later and I get a call a week before appt stating they rescheduled for a specific date and time without even speaking to me. I notified them I will not have anything to do with their office. Mental health services shouldnt be a chore and unfortunately in this area it is nothing but. Terrible! I'd warn anyone try to get help for yourself or child not to go here. When Mark took over as my doctor after the one I'd used the past 2 years left for another job he immediately changed my prescriptions. It took a good 8 months for my previous Union Street doctor to finely tune in my meds and I expressed that to him and he said " I don't care " he was unprofessional ever since that day and even LIED after he and Union Street Counseling messed up which now makes it impossible for me to get my meds even though I gave proof of my illness very recently proven by a top Doctor child and adults. Don't ever go to Union counseling. They originally took my Empire Blue cross insurance and I paid only $25 which is my usual payment for office visits with regular doctors. What I thought was my copay went up to $50. for 5 years, I was self paying, and since they had my insurance card, I assumed they were billing my company. It wasn't until the payment went up to $95 that I was officially told they didn't take my insurance because they were out of network. I don't ever remember them telling me that they didn't take my insurance until last December. The guy at the front desk named Ian, with a stutter on the phone said he would submit what I had to insurance, and instead of getting money back, they hit me with a $300 bill. I am damned if I am going to pay them, when I never would have authorized them to bill my insurance, if it would go to my deductable. DONT GO! read more

I have been going to the Union Street locations for several years. I have had nothing but good interactions with the office staff and the therapists there. No, call backs are not their strongest suit but when you do eventually connect the results are worth the wait. read more

I have been trying to get a psychiatric med for two weeks. I have been out for days. Never had a problem before. I don't know if Carrie Glans is not responding or if the office isn't sending the requests correctly, but it is irresponsible. I will have a psychiatric episode without these meds. Providers were good, sadly they are connected with a facility that has extremely poor management and consistently mishandled the billing. The price for intake, was $178.00 so i made the appt for a week later (june/2020). Had a lot of technical difficulties during the virtual appt. Lost about 20min trying to fix it. Then my provider called me instead of video, which I mention a few times that I DO NOT like an appt without the video, and she proceed to say " I will probably not charge you since we lost so much time". Then I get a bill in the mail saying that I owned $200. Called the office, the manager called me back saying that the $200 is the new price. WAIT, WHAT?? Her explanation: when I made the appt was 178 now is 250, I'm charging only 200 because I talked to my manager and she lowered to $50 for you, and when you had your appt was already 250. THIS IS SO ILLEGAL. Just because you changed the price, doesn't mean I have to pay that since when I scheduled my appt was still an old price. New patients BE AWARE! I would NEVER recommend any health care provider associated with Union Counseling BHC because of poor management. They made my anxiety worse than it was before. read more

I can't really say anything about the clinicians that work there, because nobody ever called me back to schedule an appointment! The voicemail that you get when you call Union counseling services states that phone calls will be returned within 24 to 48 hours it has been 3 weeks and nobody has returned my phone call! After reading the other review about this place, I can surmise that the receptionist is quite unprofessional, and definitely not doing his or her job. It's no wonder that all of these clinicians have openings for new patients, because they're not getting any new patients to fill the slots due to not returning anyone's phone calls. It's a shame, because there really are people out there that need help and it just takes one bad apple like this to ruin an entire practice. read more
