Today was the first day that Union County opened its newest library, Southwest Regional Library…read more Many of us have been waiting for an updated, modern library that will serve the needs of the residents. Without a doubt, the Director has done a phenomenal job in bringing this creation to life. First of all, this library is almost 4 times the size of the old Waxhaw library and there is plenty of parking spaces for parents, students and residents without having a long walk. When you walk in, you're warmly greeted by a large staff of friendly faces. There is a map to help you navigate where to go. Aesthetically, the library is one of the best libraries I've seen in the Charlotte area. The decor and atmosphere blend very well and even when the library is full, it still has a calmness to it. One of the first things I noticed was the huge children's book section which should more than accommodate any child's interests and reading level. As you move through the library, you'll notice they have study rooms which as first come, first served guaranteed for at least an hour. They have two stem sections, one of them has a 3D printer 3D computers and PS5. The other has smaller activities for children. There are several areas for reading, relaxation and if you want a snack or beverage, there is a small area for that as well. The adult book section is substantially larger as well with a much better variety of authors and genres whereas the old Waxhaw library was stuck in the past. When it's time to check out, you can either do self checkout at a couple locations inside or at the help desk. Overall, I'm truly impressed with our newest library and all of its offerings. The customer service is excellent and there is plenty of staff to happily assist if you need.

Unlike some other libraries in the district, this one had more library things for kids to play with, but fewer library materials (books and puzzles). Still and all, nice library and recommended.

Libraries today aren't as quiet as they used to be, but I had plenty of space at my table to be comfortable with my book, notepad, pens, & highlighters. I actually enjoyed being in earshot of a teacher tutoring a student and giving the parent an update. Was very pleased to find the ladies restroom clean. Would definitely return here for study time, if necessary.

If…read moreyou're not paying attention then you'll miss it because it's a small house that has been repurposed into a library. The location is problematic because it's in a neighborhood off the main road in Waxhaw which would confuse some. When I went into the library, I noticed the lighting was poor and the selection of books and other materials was severely lacking quantity and quality. With a library this small, it's difficult to find a well known author or title by African Americans or other minorities. I'm not insinuating that this is done on purpose because I believe the county or city thinks that the demographics of Waxhaw, Marvin wouldn't be interested in these genres. I did find other books that catered more to a certain demographic of a certain political affiliation. If you're wanting a better library overall and you live in Waxhaw, I'd suggest going to the main library in Monroe. You can thank me later

There's a good selection of DVDS for such a tiny library, and its children section is half the library. A town's library is key to the town's educational success. Vote in November for the referendum of Waxhaw building a much needed larger and up-to-date library for the sake of our children's future!!! Early reading is paramount to a better education! My son started reading at the age of three and has had amazing results from it. It's thanks to a great, well stocked library in Glastonbury, CT! The ImaginOn: The Joe & Joan Martin Center collaboration between the library district and the Children's Theatre is a hands down wonder. While some libraries specialize in library things (games and toys) to engage kids and others specialize in library materials (books and puzzles), ImaginOn has it all ... including plays and story times. The library itself is free to enter, multi-story, newish, clean and easy to get to, with available parking that is free for 90 minutes with a stamped ticket. This facility absolutely had everything to stimulate kids of all ages ... probably 2 to 12 being the sweet spot. Do make a point of finding your way here for a visit someday ... you'll be glad you did. Highly recommended.

There is always some sort of craft, legos, toys and computers for her to play with/use. They also usually have monthly events and a theater. I prefer to download the CMLibrary app to keep up with events. We prefer to come here on the Saturday's but it's definitely more packed. It's about 40ish families at every session. They have a parking garage (under the library) which you can take the elevator directly into the library. They validate for 90 minutes. The issue is when it's full or days they have events parking can really be a pain. They may direct you to park at 7th street parking garage but they only validate after 5pm on weekdays or anytime on weekends.
